A bit of a correction. They killed all totems where they could find them. They had a hard on for the spider totems. Because of the dethroning thing. When morlun came to new York he just ate a German totem hero who was the totem for chicken.
True but. They specifically enjoyed the taste/lifeforce of spider totems the most. Really only Solus needed to eat totems, the others didn't need to but their father genetic altered his kids to crave totems. What wee still don't know is how Solus came to exist.

My main problem with Morlun and The Inheritors, they killed the spider friends off-panel.
Growing up, that was 'my' cartoon.
I hated how his brother killed Spider-Man from Spider-Man Unlimited. I loved that show.

Imo, what makes morlun special to me is the narrative associated with him. Hes the only Spidey villain to have killed him HUNDREDS of times. With EASE at that.
To me, morlun represents destiny, I think it was obo(peters reanimated course) that stated Peter was supposed to die to morlun. But the 1st time, peter beat him, the 2nd time the great weaver brought him back. Each time after that peter has beaten him by being smart and resiliant.
Morlun represents destiny to me. However with hardwork, determination, and planning, destiny doesnt always arrive. It can be changed, it can be overcome. 🤘🏾
It wasn't the great Weaver that brought him back. It was cloning. In Spider-verse he and his family would get killed and revived by being cloned in another universe, until the facility was destroyed.
I think what you might be referring to is fate/concept of fate. Still a great overall message bro

That would’ve been interesting. I found out about this character in 2016 and am surprised he isn’t talked about more often. He’s like Spidey’s personal Doomsday. If they executed him just right, Morlun could’ve been a terrifyingly awesome character to adapt into live action.
I think Shathra would be good to adapt too, she was a threat that Spidey faced before morlun. She was a spider-wasp totem and only found her way to 616 because Peter didn't follow Doctor Strange's advice when in the astral plain.

I like Morlun as a villain, he's cool n vicious, but I've always thought the spider totem bit was dumb. Wish they would rework that part.
I feel like Javier bardem would fit this role perfectly.
yeah the whole totem thing kind of totally destroys the origin of Spiderman.
I guess some people like it, but the whole entire thing really should have been placed on a new separate character than spidey.

My whole introduction to Morlun was
“the other”. I thought it was awesome. I hated how full of himself morlun was when he fought Spider-Man, but I absolutely loved when Spider-Man killed him and got his wrist spikes. Wish he kept those.
I liked how originally Morlun went from cocky and confident to full on SERIOUS as he takes more Ls to Peter. It shows morlun views him as a threat.
And the stingers peter had were dope, but kaine took and mastered them when "the other" transferred to him. The in story reason is that Peter lacks the killing mentality that Kaine for a time had, and Peter rejected the power during one more day.
With greater power comes greater responsibility
I really want to see morlun and the inheritors become the next villain in the spider verse films because they were the ones who started the spider verse in the 1st place in the comics and I will like to see them be the next villains in the next spider verse movie

Correction? Peter actually DID die on that sidewalk during morluns ground pound. Pete during the tail end of "the other" states it. It was his spider side that killed morlun.

That first introduction of Morlun is the only collection of actual Spiderman comics I have, was a Christmas present. It's kind of nice to see Rob cover it.

Just read Jim butcher's Spider-Man novel The Darkest Hour!!! It was a great story and put into how terrifying this villain could be for Spider-Man.
Morlun and more of the inheritors are nuts op.
But they still have people, spiders, they will not go up agaisnt purely because they'd all be done in with no sweat to certain spiders.
Jim Butcher is a my favorite author.

I hope Morlun gets the 'Adam Warlock GOTG 2' treatment, that would be amazing. Hopefully Rob will do a series on the Book of Ezekiel, because I LOVED that look at Peter from an outside SPidey-guy perspective.

also the part when Ezekiel shows up is awesome honestly loved this whole part of Spiderman the question of the chicken or the egg which came first but in the context of the Spider bite which gave him his powers e.g. did the Spider give the power because of the radiation or was it going to that anyway very cool premise and storyline.
I just dug the Morlun comics out my parents attic, and Ezekiel tells Peter after Morlun touches him, that his adamantium walled bunkers would only help a Totem stay hidden before it has been touched by Morlun, after the touch it wouldn't help at all. Great video, you are a legend! (P.S. Morlun not killing Spider-Man because the cops showed up is hilarious to me.)

Yoooo with immortal hulk linking a gamma Bomb to satan, venom being linked to an eldritch God, and me just now remembering all this morlun Spider-Man shatter dimensions stuff.
Marvel should really do something with all of that, not sure but I hope it all connects in some way because I love all this sudden hidden undertones of cosmic horror/dimensional beings linked to my favorite characters. Pretty cool.
Marvel probably will do something with them, the multiverse is a trend in superhero movies now.
I liked how all the Spider-Men were also connected to an eldritched God, the Waver of Fate i believe.

What's crazy is the only issue I'd seen him in was the one where he plucks out peters eye then totally forgot about him for years. Until a video involving that issue popped up on my recommended. Brought back a lot of memories of being absolutely horrified for Spiderman

I doubt Morlun will appear in No Way Home, but he may appear in the upcoming animated Spiderverse film.
Morlun is a seriously underrated villain. Now that the multiverse has been incorporated in MCU and even SSU by extension, I really wish we could see him and the Inheritors in live-action sometime. Or at least in the Into the Spider-Verse series.

The encounter with Morlun led the Straczynzski/Hudlin storyline and used the folklore of Anansi the spider to assert the multiverse, Madame Webb, The Other(Which leads to Peter's resurrection) hence the spider totems. I owned the whole storyline including the Amazing Spider-Man Straczynski book of Amazing Spider_Man issues 300? Until it was stolen from me 6 years ago!

I love Morlun. I was reading Spider-Man at the time and I loved that arc.
Learning about this storyline and the character Morlun, sounds a bit like Mr. Sinister meets Knull.
I always found it funny that the Spidermen, Peter parker and Morales and gwen etcetera, are all science based superpowers but they're also randomly just connected to a multiversal magic thread of fate
I have always said that bringing the first Morlun Vs Spiderman storyline to the big screen would be amazing because of how relentless Morlun is. The moment when SPOILER Spidey swung across the street far away from him,stops above a building and then somehow Morlun caught up to him ON FOOT and threw both him and Spidey off that building was insane.
So only a clone story with Mary Jane could solve a bad continuity decision for Spiderman? That's irony. I'd like to see JMS write and Alex Ross draw an extended story series around the Totemverse. Bring in Black Panthers, Man Things, and certainly Squirrel Girl. Morlun and his allies naturally would include all the Hulks and the FF as enemies as they are avatars of radiation. So is Daredevil, when you think about it.

Sounds to me like Marvel is going to do a mash up between Morlun and Kraven the Hunter because their motivations are very similar as are their powers but individually they're quite simple characters yet if you combine them to create a super-human multiversal hunter who kills in order to extend his own life ... well, that's far more interesting.
Petter and Morlun should have their own movie, that story was good.

I think it would be really cool if the first time we see the MCU F4 is in a Spider-Man movie as nod to his first appearance in the comics. The same can be said for the punisher who was introduced in a Spider-Man comic.

I guess people are talking about him is that he is in this new wave of Spiderman's Marvel Legends. I think they put him there because 1) he's a Spiderman character, and it is an Spiderman wave; 2) there a similarites in his design with the Morbius character, which fits the time with his recently released trailer and hype surroundng an vampire kind of character.

The first Morlun story by J. Michael was great. What's come after - sounds like it got messy and complex. But I haven't sampled it first hand. However - when they try to fill out an excellent villain, they usually strip away what makes them compelling. Morlun should have just stayed a mysterious force of nature - so to speak

Only way Morlun makes it into the movie is in the end credits. Most likely in the way that Blade was introduced. A voice off camera makes a comment about Spider-Man that everyone knows is Morlun.

I like the Spider Totems thing J.M.S. wrote. I don’t love it, but I do like more than I don’t. I do hate the Dan Slott retcon of it and Morlun (i.e. Morlun being given a family of Totem Vampires), and personally I think the only good thing that came out of it was Cindy Moon (Silk)
