AP builds then = absolutely diverseful rune options and varieties of talents, many different options, deathfire grasp, magic life steal, abyssal scepter, even athene's unholy grail was a viable option giving 90 AP, lots of CDR and other bonuses, you could make a build from scratch that would actually work, and it is better to include wards on it, because it is not a fucking free item that automatically appears in your inventory even if you forget to buy it, but do not worry, sup is going to grant vision the most, every role has a very defined function, its not like everyone is doing everything at the same time. Mid lane then = the most op was Kassadin, almost every match used to give you a decent duel, the kind of game that could give you the chills, for making you go for you limits over and over again, characters were epic, nidalee, gragas, ahri, ziggs, akali, malzahar, katarina. AP builds today = luden's echo mid laners today = zed with thunderlord dealing 600 damage over 1 second without even using ultimate, ad lethality varus or any other shit like this, yasuo vanishing your ultimate with a wind barrier without even spending any kind of resource, sylas recovering 50% hp during a fight, zoe
Team builder was the worst time in League ever, bar none. It was essentially Riot's experiment before they figured out how to rework draft pick into what it is nowadays. (The BGM is epic though.)
