Absolutely love these DA kitbash series, always are a huge source of inspiration, I love the 'Less is more' approach too, no point going berserk adding loads to each model. :) keeps it clean.
Thanks! I always say painting is 50% of the work and sometimes all it takes is a few bits changed here and there to completely change the look of a model, DA are such a joy to kitbash because there’s just so many bits available
I’ve thought about adding some legacy miniatures to my force but the size different just puts me off, will probably to and recreate some tho with newer minis
@@cat_or_rabbit I totally agree. My Dark Angels is pure Primaris outside of some vehicles. Although I do sort of want to get an OldHammer 2nd Edition army going too. Just for the nostalgia.
Really approved that thumbnail art with the 2nd Ed style box. I do love the blue background on those, givin' that meta/off-context mood with sole focus on miniatures in an uplifting tone.
Oh I could easily fall into that, however I do try and paint up what I kitbash (and have achieved that 99% of the time) as I also like to keep my backlog fairly small
Have been wanting to get this kit to do some cool DA kitbashes. Will finally get my Company Veterans kit together with the Deathwing Assault box with the new DA upgrade bits aswell!
Well in March I would of been working on my dark angels for a year - and seeing as it’s been awhile since I’ve done an army update im thinking big anniversary video?
I really want to do a kitbash of these guys. Captain to Zabriel, Champion to Kai, heavy bolter to Lohoc, Ancient to Launciel. Not sure who I’d convert the boltgun guy to
Some nice kitbashes. The one thing about primaris command that bugs me is how tall the banners are. If a "mini" marine was 7ft a primaris must be 8-9. Thats like a 20ft tall pole!😂😂
I am wanting to get into Dark Angels and your content is a massive inspiration for me. What are some kits you recommend for someone who has zero 40k bits that is wanting to emulate your type of style?
For DA specific bits - the veteran kit is amazing for heraldry and iconography - the raven wing upgrade sprue is also a really good one - in all honesty they have 3 upgrade sprues and they too are also pretty solid, although the new upgrade sprue tends to be tailored towards making a specific mini.
@@cat_or_rabbit What about any specific boxes that include a plethora of miscellaneous extra bit? Besides the company veterans, I've already decided those are an auto include for me.
@@MrJmarsh56 not really, aside from the Knights/ companions/ veterans we don't have many dedicated DA themed kits, thus the reliance on the upgrade sprues etc
Yay, i found another calm RUclips er building cool 40k stuff😀. P.s. did you have lots and lots And Fu£%&%g lots of little bastard triangles to deal with on that shite cast 😊, been there with the ork tank buster's!
Love it, was going to try and add the sword part back in however it would of involved some cuts to the angled lip of the blast shield, and I didn’t want to take the chance of messing up a cut and it ending up a bit jank. - having said that I’m wondering if something can be 3D printed to make something like this work
For those wanting a look at the company heroes box and my thoughts - here is my unboxing

That heavy gunner is my favorite I think.
Ta! I did a similar thing on my sternguard veteran kitbash video

I love that you used that old 2nd ed banner 👌
It seemed only fitting!
That Dark Angels Banner bearer - I owned the 2nd edition version of that - way back when there wasn't even a sculpted banner on him.
I’ve thought about adding some legacy miniatures to my force but the size different just puts me off, will probably to and recreate some tho with newer minis

Awesome stuff, I agree artwork old and new is great for kitbash ideas and motivation!
As I’ve slowly gone down the kitbashing rabbit hole, small narrative beats and artwork is slowly becoming my biggest inspiration.
Really approved that thumbnail art with the 2nd Ed style box. I do love the blue background on those, givin' that meta/off-context mood with sole focus on miniatures in an uplifting tone.
Thanks! I’m not very computer minded and the whole thing was made on MS paint 😂
Nice conversions! I probably spend more time kitbashing and converting my DA than I do painting them
Oh I could easily fall into that, however I do try and paint up what I kitbash (and have achieved that 99% of the time) as I also like to keep my backlog fairly small
that really big book is meant to mount on landspeeder hoods. So if you want to convert one up for the ravenwing you can do it
Defo going to add this to a repulsor or executioner in the future!
love it! i am watching you whilst i kitbash my own dark angels :)
Love it! Enjoy!
Nice conversion, done something similar with a box of ultramarines honor guard
Ultras have great kitbashing potential, I’d love to do some victrix honour guard
The ancient bearer was such a pain in the ass for my black Templars. These are some proper nice conversions 👍
Thanks! Another great faction this kit suits really well

Yep! I’m looking forward to the Deathwing box - but I think I’m looking forward to the upgrade sprue the most!
The pointy finger definitely helped the pose on that last dude haha
I don’t even know what the original pose was trying to achieve he just looks a bit bored and janky with his arm just hanging down. 😂
Great job, my man. They look pretty cool. 👍🏻
Thanks!
Would love to see an update with these guys all painted up! They look stellar!

Fantastic work! Well worth the effort!
Thanks! I try and keep it simple and I’m really happy with the result of these
Always a great watch! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks!
@@cat_or_rabbit did you manage to get your hands on the death wing assault box?
@@thatratchetjosh9974 I did! Very much looking forward to it
@@cat_or_rabbit can’t wait for the video my man 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Always nice to see kitbashing Dark Angels. Looking forward how you will paint them!
Made a start on the captain - will pop up progress on the community tab
Excellent work.
Thanks!
Great as Always! Love the book/banner on the company champ!
Really please with how it turned out, especially for my first really custom banner
yes neat stuff got see part two the paint of tell then we will see the nest vid
Not sure at the moment - there’s no need for a painting video as I already have a dark angels painting guide
Awesome mashup brotha. Subbed.
Thanks! Very much appreciated!

I’ll be honest I have no idea who any of those people are so ill have to look them up, however it’s a great idea to theme a squad on characters!
Always nicely done conversions 🇦🇺👍🏻
Thanks! Do enjoy making my miniatures a bit more unique and personal!
@@cat_or_rabbit so do I mate
Hmmm and maybe use the firstborn Company Veterans as Scouts?
Imo they’re just to small, and being a Primaris scale force I think they would look a bit out of place
Good work 👌🏻
Thanks!
excellent!
Thanks!

Oh if your mixing 1st born and primaris the banners are very noticeable in height

Glad you’re enjoying my vibes! And yes - I must of gone over it 3-4 times and I still missed bits!
CatBit, I have a ton of DA bits lying around.. do you have a po box where one could off load them to you? :D
I don’t have a PÓ box - bits are always welcome - will have to sort out a way to receive them
Might be worth checking how much it is to set one up and have it as a patreon goal..@@cat_or_rabbit
So ridiculous idea for the heavy bolter, instead of the blast shield just drill a barrel sized hole in the emblem.

The company ancient is absolutely horrible to paint!
Im not a fan of finecast in general, glad its just the banner I’ll need to paint
