The first stanza sung by Troy in Welsh: translation is "The sound of the fog, the mossy forest, the granite, the cemetery of trees, and the drowning, a form of my life's tapestry." Love it when Marko rocks the beast. I think "leather and lace" is the perfect description of this song, Tuomas is a master of switching things up. Thanks for another beautiful reaction, stay safe, God bless, keep rocking.

I think what Troy meant there: he has always wanted to play at Wembley because in musicworld (not just in England) to get to play there and to play a sold-out show at Wembley means you really have made it as a band.

    • @NickBR57
      @NickBR57 Год назад +4

Also, in England every 9-year old who plays football wants to play at Wembley where the championship games are played.
I have always taken Troy's comment as a reference to that.
But I like your interpretation too because in the same concert Marco says hello and says he had to say it too. In Marcos case, he later wrote that Wembley was the biggest show of his life. So that fits with your comment, certainly in Marco's case. They could have had different reasons for saying it of course...

Wembley Arena is the most iconic concert venue in London and UK. For example, The Beatles, Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones have played there. So for all british musicians like Troy that is THE place to play, that's what they have been dreaming of since starting the career as a musician. Nightwish is the first and only finnish band to ever have their own concert in the arena, so it was a big day for the whole band.
This song gets it's name from Henry David Thoreau's book “Walden”. Thoreau and his work is linked to Walt Whitman and Nightwish also has a song called “Song of Myself”, which refers to Whitman's poem with same name. I don't know which one of these authors Tuomas found first, but they are more or less linked together, american authors and humanists from 1800's. Tuomas obviously reads a lot of english literature with a broad range of genres. I guess that explains how he can write such amazing and complex lyrics in english as a non-native english speaker. Even natives don't always understand all the vocabulary he uses in his texts.

Walden is a book by Henry David Thoreau, an American naturalist, essayist, poet, philosopher, and leading transcendentalist, detailing his experiences over the course of two years, two months, and two days in a cabin he built near Walden Pond amidst woodland owned by his friend and mentor Ralph Waldo Emerson, near Concord, Massachusetts, in the 1850’s. The work is part personal declaration of independence, social experiment, voyage of spiritual discovery, satire, and a sort of manual for self-reliance. For more Troy rocking the pipes, check out the only instrumental from the Wacken show, Last of the Wilds. Praying for Floor. Keep exploring Nightwish.

Rolling her "R", with a grin.

    Emppu conducting the audience,
going quiet, you know what happens next, are you ready... Pause, 5, 10?
    Well done MouseMan :)

Inspired by the pond in Massachusetts made famous when Henry David Thoreau stayed in a cabin there and wrote the poem by the same name. To find one's own Walden, is to find the place, whether a physical location or a state of mind where you feel at one with nature, at peace within.

    • @MickRiley
      @MickRiley Год назад +2

Also Walden is a old English name for Wooded valley and as Troys mentions of poets Lord Byron, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, English poets, and American Walter Whitman points that its maybe just poetry? David Thoreau's version of walden was the insparaition for Thomas. to write “The Crow, the Owl and the Dove” as told in the interview Tuomas Holopainen Talks Literature so maybe this song My Walden is more about using the word in its older form.
      the welsh translation is
      “Sain y niwl,
      Gaunt y goydwig fwsog,
Gwenithfaen, cen y coed, a'r lleuad,
Un gway f'adenydd I dapestri bywyd“
      “The sound of the mist,
      the mossy forest,
granite, the lichen of trees, and the moon,
weave my wings into life’s tapestry“
      followed by
Light shines bright beyond all the cities of gold
On a road of birdsong and chocolate shops
Of buskers, jugglers, innkeeper's welcoming call
The sound of mist, smell of moss-grown woods
Weaving my wings from many-colored yarns
Flying higher, higher, higher into the wild
Weaving my world into tapestry of life
Its fire golden, in my Walden
I will taste the manna in every tree
Liquid honey and wine from the distant hills
      An early morning greenwood concerto
Greets my Walden with its eternal voice
Weaving my wings from many-colored yarns
Flying higher, higher, higher into the wild
Weaving my world into tapestry of life
Its fire golden, in my Walden
Weaving my wings from many-colored yarns
Flying higher, higher (higher into the wild)
Weaving my world into tapestry of life
Its fire golden, in my Walden
Weaving my wings from many-colored yarns
Flying higher, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher, higher...
I do not wish to evade the world
Yet, I will forever build my own
Build all the way, forever my own
      Forever my home

My Walden is one of those pieces were Troy is able to show how talented he is and why he earned his place in NW and our hearts, the Pipes and Low Whistle sound fantastic, Marco harmonises with Troy, on this and they all sound wonderful, Troy is From Cumbria (over 200 miles away) and now lives in North Yorkshire which is a similar distance, But for an English Musician Wembley has always been the place to play when you've made it in the music biz.

Tuomas is indeed for me the metal Mozart that he proves time and again through the variety of compositions. The songs Tuomas writes are often complex both tecnically and musically. He is lucky to have band members who can perform what he composes exelent. @ Crissy, Marco's beautiful bass tone arises because his bass guitar goes through the preamp to the mixing board.
