So he failed his primary mission and was left to his own devices, never to be activated and with only remnants of his childhood memories still intact.
The CyberShell console wasn't actually popular in Russia. He even said it himself that it's rare and extremely hard to find, if it was popular it wouldn't have been rare. Sega Genesis clones were indeed popular in Russia, but not CyberShell in particular.

they used to play an ad to garner attention for RUclips on Google Videos does anyone remember? I was 9 and its the only reason I knew what RUclips was and I got pissed when some Google Video thumbnails started sending you to RUclips, I considered it a nuisance

I had actually completely forgotten about the get out frog and just assumed you were referencing Onion Ring Sonic.

I’ve seen Cybershell couple of times in street markets, but those were really expensive for Mega Drive knock offs.
My first memory of it was an ad in some weird cheap anime magazine my parents bought me when I was in hospital. That magazine had story about Osamu Tezuka, and it had a whole page on Kimba/Lion king plagiarism thing.
I’m still wondering where exactly writer got that info, in Russia, in 2000s.
The answer is probably boring - the article was bought/stolen from some European magazine.
But sometimes I hope that actually it was written by some internet freak who somehow proxied usenet to his university dorm pc.
