@Jerb Sherb That is usually the reason parents do get children pets. That is the usual reason for getting a pet. If the parents feel they are teaching empathy, it is not the same. These are feelings that develop with the bond with the animal . When someone who wasn't allowed to have a pet , will get one once they are older or on their own!
This kid is going to have so many dogs in his life, and they will all be as happy as Tilley. He's going to learn a lot so young, and use it for any lucky future dog that gets to know him.
I have rescued many dogs in my life. I have seen them grow old and pass away. Each one brought happiness to my life in its own special way. They all made me feel loved in a way no human being could. I will always share my life with dogs.

Berners are so precious and are perfect for kids. They’re so gentle, and my big boy (who sadly passed at 6 years old, I miss him every day) was so fascinated with babies and little kids. He was VERY aware of his size. Our little one is 1 year old and he’s absolutely wild, but incredibly affectionate, and I love him. I highly recommend this breed. I love my little doggo 🧡✨
One of the most heartbreaking things about Bernese are their lifespans. I grew up with them, one after another, and either their body gives out or they have health problems from over breeding. Hurts even more because they're the absolute sweetest dogs I've ever seen.
😥 My Tegu will make 15 years and the Pallas lizards 50. Tuatara 180 years. Someone needs to breed these dogs for age, don't ask me how. My expertise is in reptiles. Cancer & fibro and a flat not really compatible with a doggie-horse. Plus an angry scared tegu could easily snap a Bernese leg. Think a friendly intelligent micro crocodile that will curl up and sleep on your chest.

I don't know why, but watching these two made me cry. What I saw was a genuine love between the sweet little boy and the sweet little pupper. She was a tiny pup at the beginning of the video, then we saw her growing up, and now she's much bigger than he is. Their love for one another, however, endures. Oh God, this relationship is so beautiful. It brings back so many good memories of my first dog, Winston was my comfort, my protector, my best friend, the best dog anyone could ever hope for. This brought tears to my eyes. I remember when I was a little girl, I had a dog that I really loved SO much. When I was at school one day he had an accident on the rug and my mom gave him back to where we got him. I was so heartbroken. I was affected for a long time. I see this little boy so happy and it makes me smile. I've had dogs over the years. 11 to 13 years each. I loved each one and yes, just like Joey here, each one was my BESTEST friend. Each taught me how to love and be loved. Hop Hop is my girl today. I am now 63 years old. I love you Hop Hop. 🤭😁.
I interacted through my workplace with a terrific attorney from a colder climate who always ended conversations with delightful tales of his precious Bernese pup. Such endearing animals as this sweet child’s interaction with his best friend shows. 💞

He sort of reminds me of my St Bernard, who loved to be a big goofball and a great lap puppy for my early middle/ late high school days, and taught me plenty about love and the power of being there for people to comfort them. This experience is so good for young people, so they can love and respect animals and people.

I remember my Goldie when I was about his age. My parents brought home a female golden retriever puppy when I was 8 yrs old. She followed me everywhere I went, through the woods, bike rides, treehouse etc, she waited in the front yard for when the school bus dropped me off and she would run inside with me. when I was 21 we had to say goodbye

As long as you teach them to pet them carefully and remind them that pets are not toys then is ok
