    I love that they didn’t tell the daughter to cover up and instead raised their sons to be respectful of women no matter how they decide to dress. I also love how open they were and how vulnerable the mom was willing to be with the kids. Great parents and mentors right there

      The parents did come off as strict but I noticed that one of the boys had ear piercings. I'm a Christian and grew up Christian and in my home we viewed Tattoos and piercings as an insult to our bodies and to God, so to me it seems like in that household that if you work and show that you want something you'll get it. That to me is the most important lesson in life that any parent could teach their children that so many kids lack nowadays

    The mom sharing her childhood trauma of her dad was definitely Stacey’s turning point. These people had been through trauma, took their trauma, and grew from it. They became the parents they wished they had. And I think that’s what made them so understanding and compassionate towards these kids. They’re strict, but not unreasonable. By far my favorite family.

    Wow how the mom handled the kids when they admitted to smoking is amazing. To praise their character but condemn the action, its great. I originally thought they were gonna be crazy parents but they are just good parents. I hope the their two boys turn out to be amazing gentlemen.

    i think these are the best parents that took in troubled children that i have seen so far! they are not too strict, but not too lenient either. they also were incredibly nice by letting them have the nicotine patches and gum because they know addiction is hard to overcome. this is my favorite family❤

    I really appreciate that this family didn't impose any dress code rules on the girls that they wouldn't also impose on the boys. It always struck me as unfair the amount of families on this show that placed the burden on girls to dress modestly but never talked to the boys about respect.

      They're both miserable tbh. I grew up around these kinds of teenagers in middle school and high school. My teachers would always be like "how are you hanging out with them and still have good grades." Simple. I never let them influence me. Some ended up in terrible situations in adulthood now though, some got better.

    i love how these parents weren't abusively strict. they showed that children can be disciplined through the nurture and genuine care of others.
    edit: i'm not saying their restrictive parenting style is good. i was just saying that they were more gentle in their approach to the kids in comparison to other the other parents on this show.

No, my parents didn't forbid it for religious reasons, but when I finally watched it, I didn't feel like I had missed anything out in my childhood - not because I didn't like them, in fact I did, but because it's really not tragic to not have seen that. Those shallow things are really worth nothing compared to real experiences.

      They are much more likely to have the teens respect them and do as the ask being allowed to wear what they want and have the piercings. Getting the girls to dress modestly and taking the piercings out causes friction and doesn’t achieve anything.

      The few other episodes I've seen where the parents force the kids to remove their piercings have to do with the school rules on the days they go to school. Since these kids didn't have to go to school during their stay, it didn't come up. There could be other reasons, but just think it's because none of the activities they chose for their stay required removing the piercings.

    Where in God's name do these kids get the money for cigarettes?! I started smoking at 17 and quit at 22 because it was so expensive!

      @@embily8186 same! i started when i was 15 cause i live in nz and lots of teens smoke and binge drink here (including me, clubs liqour ect age is 18) but it makes me feel crazy how much ive spent on drinks/smokes
