- Anvil F8C Lightning just got massive nerf in Star Citizen 3.23 EPTU . How much? Well that is what we are going to try to test today. Join me as we battle lagging servers.

Actually no, the ship has a better DPS but lower turn rate now. So it is nerf but, deserved, now it is a real heavy fighter. o7

You gotta get use to using boost on turns now as well as better power management.. also ballistics are now lower dmg, higher count and affected by shields but are still good for damaging PVP ship internal components and such or at least they will be when they are done. Whereas energy weapons can only shut down the energy relays (fuses) and damage external components. None of that really has anything to do with the F8C exactly, it affects all ships. I've been using my F8C and F7C in the Xeno test plays Thursday and Friday of last week and they performed great.. got lots kills each run out with lasers - but only a few with ballistics due to dmg lacking.. I found energy weapons worked best for me in that situation as I went out with full ballistic loadouts at first, cinematics looked great hitting ships, the BRRRRR was REAL man but took way too many rounds to take a ship out and currently we can't reload or repair at Pyro jump station which sucks, so I had 2 ships and would claim one and go out with the other LOL.. With lasers there is a trick, full power to weapons, shoot half your shots (which the total doubles when you put full power to weapons) and then switch to shields or engines full power at halfway point and still have a full clip of rounds while powering up other parts of your ship. rinse and repeat.. it's hard work but fun once you get the hang of it. Also should mention, there is a large amount of cabin fog currently in F8C at Pyro gate and so far the only place I've had that issue.. there is an IC in for it.. apparently it's been around for a long time now according to several people in the #sc-testing-chat chanel.. hope they fix it soon, that sucked - I had to fiddle with my gamma and brightness settings to even begin to fight at Xeno event tests.
Did you compare it to other ships to see if they got "nerfed" the same? Master nodes has changed alot.
So far I have driven my F8C , Corsair , C1 and 400i which I found abandoned. Not too much change in these ships, mostly nerf is for F8C and Ares ships. Will have to test this one too.
I just do not understand how CIG can nerf all these ships that WAS SOLD WITH these features and then take them away after you a few hundred dollars for them. Like Being sold a Lambo, then after 2 months of owning it the dealerships come in the night and replace your V12 with a V6 and change out your tire size to half!!!!!! Shame on CIG!!!
They are still working on it. Just a little more patience it will be good.

Honestly the ships deserved a nerf. The firepower and the agility of the ship was crazy, almost making other heavy fighter irrelevant.
I has the stats of the Warden, a lot of ships have had their stats reset to a standard prototype, for instance at some point all 300i series, including the 350r shared the same stats.
It seems they're in the process of rebalancing everything but aren't disclosing it properly.
I have been an owner of the lightning for a bit now. I am originally a vanguard fan boy. I know everything changes but hearing This does give me joy so that I can get three hundred dollars back

Imagine having half of your weapons distortions (no hull dmg) and complaining about low dps and long time to kill enemies... lol. To make it even worse you combine them with ballistics and not lasers.
iirc shields have a 95% resistance against distortion since 3.22.1 as well and since ballistics mostly penetrate shields the distortions did nothing at all. That said, they definitely have increased TTK quiet a bit in this patch or the hit detection is just messed up due to terrible overall server performance on the eptu.
Not complaining about weapons actually it has higher DPS, that was just observation about distortions. Video is about nerf to ship turn rate. 🫡

Eh, I’m still going to fly mine. Love the aesthetic and it’s a single seat heavy. Not having to have a gunner to maximize damage output is a win for me
CIG always sells OP ships, just to nerf them as soon as sales end: think about the ION!
This nerf goes against the game lore. F8c was supposed to be the premier most superior fighter. Bought this ship as it was a great all round performer. Now it's just a flying pancake. I hope cig restores it. I won't be buying any new ships anymore. Sick and tired of being played by them. The ship has become unfit for purpose. Why even buy any new ships if every ship basically performs the same? We are playing nerfed citizen...
Remember the same comment when arrow got its shield count halved, but in reality it’s still the PVP king.
@@jackjin1623 agility wasn't nerfed before. Thats why the Arrow stayed dominant. Now agility is a huge factor when it pertains to the F8c.

At the 2:00 mark..."If I could just get a shot on him" followed by "Ship Feels so slugish" followed by "What the Hell was that?". Famous last words to any Hornet F7A MKII owner which is a FAR superior ship in many ways to the F8C Lightning. My heart goes out to all of the proud Lightning owners ;)

I just wanna mention that distortion got a 70% nerf. So distortion in 3.23 is pretty much useless. The ship being a bit more sluggish could be a feeling thing. To proof it you would actually need to test its pitch and yaw. Ive only seen a 3rd of the video because i dont have time rn so i appolagise if you tested it further then just personal feelings
You are right, but CIG mentioned that they nerfed movement speed so it is true. Weapons now have bigger DPS because of 4s3 and 4s2
Too early to tell IMHO. The shields are better, this looks like four S2, the weapons are better four S2 four S3, if anything the F8 looks stronger. With Master mode what worked in combat up to 3.22 likely wont work in 3.23. We will have to see how the other fighters perform in battle before any claim about nerfs or buffs can be made.
Nope, the shield is worse, now it is a bubble shield, you can't redistribute it any more. Same 2 shields as before, but not as good as before.

I suspect this is more of an initial tuning than a nerf.
I think all ships in the same class are getting similar handling and performance right now, which is why you said it felt like the vanguard (they are both in the same class).
But yogi said during one of the Star citizen lives that the ship types are just the starting point for the tuning, in the lore, the F8 is supposed to be more agile than the F7, despite being a larger ship. So I suspect we will see so major rebalancing either before 3.23 or some time afterwards.
The big benefit of the F8C over a warden was it's maneuverability. So I guess it is a dead ship now. No way I am keeping a $300 in my hanger if it performs the same as the warden.
CIG need to buff the F8C before IAE or they wont be getting any new money from me
This is just a first conversion to master modes. It will be better .

The vanguard should only be better (maybe) than the F8C if it has a turret gunner. But at the moment, the Vanguard is just as good or better with a single pilot.
But yes, I realise there is a lot to manage with MM, and I am generally positive with it. But I personally hate the light fighter meta, so I have always loved the concept of heavies having more presence XD

I think it is very much in line to other single seat heavy fighters as Ares Ion & Inferno. Vanguard is a dual seat heavy figher with bed(s), of course its bigger because of that. o7

They nerf the f8, and now the top one is the new military f7... it's nonsense, I hope we can also get the military one from the f8...
I think the f7 is also nerfed, f8 has better DPS but nerf is in the turning rate, but it seems all ships have received the same thing. Will have to test more to see. o7

I mean.....1) It's Alpha testing not even Beta testing. 2) HEAVY fighter means less agility.

Heavy configuration limited the aircraft manoeuver, limitation handle by the FBW (fly-by-wire) with thousant explanation about it.
We are not in a space simulation but not on Call of duty.

Dude you are still turning on the 45 and yaw turning. Master modes doesnt work that way, you gotta roll and use pitch. Trying to turn on the 45 is no longer the advantage it was in live.
Also you are using distortions which suck at dropping shields and ballistics, which do penetrate shields but when shields are full are going to further reduce damage.
Add on the fact distortions have extremely LOW velocity so you are mixing pretty distinct weapon speeds.
Yes, I know about weapons, it is actually a boost for weapons now we have 4s3 and 4s2. But agility has suffered and you are right about rolling. Also the shield is nerfed to bubble 🫡
@infinitespace239 but shields are nerfed overall, and all heavies have the same slap applied to them so a more apt title would indicate "heavy fighters nerfed" featuring the lightning.
At least the lightning has the option to gimbal unlike the vanguards
@@schlagzahne6741 I have not tested other ships, because I don't own them. But that could be true, then all heavy are nerfed. Corsair also has a bubble shield, but you can redistribute power.
@infinitespace239 true enough. Things are very much in Flux and tweaked by master modes it may be a while before we really see where the lightning sits.
It's funny to read about people who will ditch a ship as soon as it's level of "power" is changed.
Same as what we will see when construction material and salvage jobs are nerfed in 3.23, where supposed lovers of the reclaimer ditch it, or when mining was changed and those who professed to love it mostly disappeared or sold their prospectors during that initial patch where the changes happened.

I disagree about the opinion of it being "nerfed". It has rebalanced yes but so were all the other ships. The F8C is still very strong in combat in my experience. It absolutely rips with a full suite of Ballistic weapons. It's just not the obvious choice for combat anymore with its overturned rotation rates. I still love it and love using it in 3.23.

to me MM looks terrible, even fights looks even more sluggish, and thats across the field, nothing to do with your flying, flying is just way slower and looks kinda boreing now. once MM hits live its gona be a shit show.

In fairness, this thing felt more like a medium fighter with twice the guns and shields attached rather than a heavy fighter before and master modes balancing is going to push ships more into their intended roles anyway. I also noticed that you moved all your power to weapons away from shields and thrusters.

Not much hope in the F8C, it is basically going to be a heavy fighter specifically for taking out other heavy fighters. And you just know they will replace it with a F8A or MK2 down the line.
feels fine on my end i liked how warden handles f8c is grouped as heavy fighter using same preset as warden atm till they adjust the groups more but i had no issues fighting gladius or other fighters in xenothreat mission feels nice with the 4 size 3 4 size 2 guns

It's not a nerf, it's balance. We all know the ship was overpowered. One ship can't have it all. Why would anyone even want that to be the case?
Maybe before saying its been nerfed, try an actual good build on it. Because I can tell you from personal experience that the F8 is still very OP
The nerf is not about weapons, actually now it has higher DPS but the turn rate is slower now, much slower and shields are now bubble which is worse. 🫡
@@infinitespace239 Not to be rude or anything, but try and roll your ship and the pitch up where the ship is strongest. If they made stuff like the turn rate any faster there would be no balance and the F8 would just be even more of an unkillable monster.

@@infinitespace239 as long as you roll and pitch up instead of yawing and use your boost the F8 flies fine. If anything in MM it's stronger than it used to be since all ships have gotten the "same" treatment

F8c is booty now. The f7c is beast mode now fully kitted. Tbh the f8 needed it. Its now more inline w the rest of the heavie fighter.

There is no pay to win ships in Star Citizen. Arrow could shred F8C without any problems. There is only a boost to firepower while they are selling the ship lol
