HELLO FRIENDS THE TUBE THING CONNECTED TO MY SYNTH IS CALLED A TALKBOX. Totally understand if it’s not your fave thing but some ppl think it’s cool and funky if played well. It’s extra funny to me bcuz Nataly’s human vocals are always so impeccably executed and then here I am just straight abusing the pitch bend robot vox.
Y'all had no business making this so funky! Also, "I would do one art in exchange for love" is going to be in my vocabulary for forever now so thanks for that lol
We now have a unit of exchange called an art and a love. The exchange rate between this and the dollar bill or Bitcoin is unknown. However, we know that it's a one for one ratio between art and love according to Nick Campbell's equivocation.
I bet the reason they added it is because you can't swear in the first minute of a video if you want to monetize it. So by having a skit in the beginning the first "fucking" is right at the one minute mark. Maybe?
Jack (red shirt) looking around as if he's surprisingly amazed by the sound they're all creating together like Pomplamoose hasn't been releasing bangers seemingly every week for the last forever and always hahahaha
Can someone please explain to me HOW Swatkins sounds like that? Like could you draw me a picture?? I mean, I know I’m looking at it, and there’s clearly a tube and a keyboard involved. But could someone please draw me a picture???
Ever put your face in front of a large fan and move your mouth around to make words using the sound from the fan instead of from your vocal chords? It's like that. The tube is blowing synth notes into his mouth (there's literally a tiny speaker in the talk box) and he's just making them talk by moving his mouth around. He has to use the keyboard wheel to bend the notes because he can't do it with his mouth like a normal singer would.
@@grantbob It's not a vocoder, that works the other way around (you speak into a mic and the synth gets modulated by the speech). Here the synth sound is sent into his mouth where wordy sounds are made.
The slight pull back at 2:45 with the line "all eyes on me"... folks, THAT spot, in that space between pitch and time, that's about as raw as it gets. It's raw soul, pure love, pure anxiety, pure dread, existential even. Man, I just absolutely love those moments in music. This band is absolutely killing it, everyone of them.
Jack making the funk stank face at 1:34 when he knows the groove is oooooooooon. Also everything else about this song is bonkers in the best possible way
This was INSANE. So good I couldn't help but have to squint while listening. In a weird way I feel like Bo Burnhams version still carries more emotional weight and the vocoder chords hit a little different than the lead talkbox on this. Still LOVED this though. Next up, you gotta do a pop punk version of "Welcome to the Internet." Then maybe a very Pomplamoose version of "funny feeling."
They aren't made to evoke the same emotions. This is more like the song version you may relate to more powerfully when you feel like you're out of a slump but still like an extra boost.
I somehow always end up watching your uploads just before bed, often with weird dream results, but the sheer chunkyness of Swatkins' tinkling here is sure to bring some delerium, and I utterly welcome it!
Tremendous intro! Nick keeps enticing me to finally get into learning the bass. And as always, I love Jack’s look around that says “Oooh this is nasty. Is this nasty? Oh hell yeah this IS nasty!”
Interesting song choice -- you guys _crushed_ it! BTW, dear reader, if you haven't watched Burnham's "Inside", watch it *now.* It's a remarkably funny/vulnerable work of art. And can't wait to hear Nick's album -- love his playing!
Rush-Motörhead-Sabbath I’ve watched this more than a dozen times in a row. It’s choked me up , the vocals and the ever amazing Nick- Words escaping They bring and break genres Floored every video Humbled as a bassist, Nick is the most talented. No music brings me to tears,
That was pretty awesome! I guessing here, but I'm thinking that you guys were jamming, decided to record it, then you weren't sure which channel to put it on. I'm totally here for it, it was great however it happened!
Since Peter Frampton, in the Seventies, that I wonder why the technique of fusing the human voice with the machine sound of musical instruments weren’t used anymore, and I love that you have artists reviving and recreating that with you, bringing it to the light of actual capabilities of instruments and technological possibilities to enrichment of Music itself 🙏🏼

Don’t listen to anyone I love your weedlies woodles ❤️❤️
Who on earth could possibly be anti-weedly-weedly?
Frampton never imagined the way you used it. Spectacular! 20/10. Would recommend!
Bro you're keeping the art alive man, I'm so happy to hear it!
Bring on the talkbox!!!!!! I can't get enough.
I love that Nick is waxing his bass while on the phone with me.
One Art for One Love.
Yeah, tell me about it.
Almost as awesome as Swatkins waxing poetic on those vocals...
Hard to get it sufficiently waxy otherwise.
Ah, so that's what it's called.
Nick's delivery of "What's this? A phone call?!" got me good. LMAO!
Hahahahaha

That opening exchange is everything.
1x 🎭 > 1x ♥️
This feels like the start of an "I feel love" collab...
brilliance
"I would do 1 art in exchange for love".
I will drink 1 alcohol and give 1 like in exchange for listening to this 1 art!! Thank you!

Well... no. 😁

Probably magic and this is AWESOME!

@@dankymatters838 Ok I still don't understand, but it means a lot that you tried to explain it to me.

This has so much rewatchability. Bout to commit the next 72 hours with this song on repeat!
That is some of the best damn vocoder work I've ever heard. Bravissimo, gang.
I somehow always end up watching your uploads just before bed, often with weird dream results, but the sheer chunkyness of Swatkins' tinkling here is sure to bring some delerium, and I utterly welcome it!
The video we've all been waiting for without knowing we were waiting for it.
I'm Glad you're giving Nick the shout-out. He's so talented and deserving. RESPECT MY ART!🤘😆
Oh wow! All Eyes on Me is legitimately my favourite song from Inside and this cover was so unexpected but actually really good?
What a fantastic exchange we are making right now. Excellent work.

Hello Pomplamoose! What are you thinking of a meddley "Long Train Running" (Doobies Brothers)/VenusShocking Blue)?
The song that made everyone cry now makes everyone groove.
This is quite awesome
I put my hands up faster than being mugged at gun point.
i was trying not to get too excited but this is good shit

The way you guys are talking to each other on the phone reminds me of the Zognoids bit from Game Grumps.

So funky!
I. Love. This. So. Much.

The video seems to focus on this Nick Campbell, but SWATKINS totally owns this whole video lock stock and barrel. Amazing!
I didn't know I needed a Bo Burnham/Daft Punk team up
Wow. That was awesome.
I will listen to this everyday. TWICE.
One art in exchange for love. Sounds like a bargain.
Chaun Horton enhances every group he gets involved with.
His work with Bob Reynolds is damn stellar. Amazing drummer

Is that a 'Vocoder'? I think the first time I came across that sound was on _Frampton Comes Alive_ :)
Crazy talkbox solo !!🤪🤪
This pretty freakin' cool...
Bizarre, but good, I could say HEAVY JAZZ..... ThAnks NiCk..
Huh, well that was different! Nice!
I loved Bo Burnham's Inside and the songs in it. And this is one fun and interesting cover for such a cool song.
This really butters my biscuits!

Nick is the legend!!!!
💖💖💖 To state, that you are 'Legend', would be the understatement of this century 😉
amazing... very cool
The first time I saw Inside I knew this song was a banger, this just reinforces my firm beliefs.
I loved the first part
