Phly, you should try out the SBD-3 Dauntless, it recently had its BR lowered to 2.0 so it absolutely slaughters pretty much everything with its gunpods.

Still a fun little jet in DCS, but anything other than pretty much clean it's a bit of a dog. Also having most MP servers have lots of much more modern air defences and BVR capable aircraft even in PVE does make it quite the challenge. I've taken to bunker busting with it on 4Ya, it's surprisingly OK to fly with A mk 83 under each wing and a single centreline mk 84, just takes a while to build speed so you can climb.
@@Parabueto I occasionally take the Tiger out for some CAP on some of the MP servers. There's nothing more satisfying than shooting down some oblivious scrub in a Hornet or Viper with a Tiger!

There's a great book (imo) called "Warriors" by Barrett Tillman that I think you'd enjoy. It centers around the F-20 Tigershark which was intended to be the final version of the F-5 and the book is the reason why I'm more excited for this plane than anything Gaijin has added to date
Navy still uses them as well. Last I checked (five mins ago!) VFC-111 still uses them as aggressors. Edit: They operate F-5N/Fs, not As. Unsure of the specific differences between the aircraft outside of probably the obvious (avionics, weapons, engines, etc).
Bonus fact: My country ( Brazil ) is modernizing the Air Force in the past few years and we have the most modernized and capable F-5's in the world, if any of you wanna search something extra about it google a little bit it's really interesting. It's an amazing aircraft We're also getting the first Gripen's NG's, would be cool to see it in War Thunder in a near future.
@phlydaily the F-5 is often considered to be pretty similar IRL to the MiG-21, with the F-5 a little more maneuverable and the MiG-21 with a little more thrust. Maybe worth trying to keep the MiG maneuvering in the horizontal or in a rolling maneuver? As if you were fighting an F-4 in a MiG-21. The F-5 has actually fought the MiG-21, in Ethiopia (where they went 7-0 against the Somali MiGs) and Iran (where it had the missile advantage over various Iraqi MiG types for a while, but its combat record is hard to know from the outside.).

IRL this thing is pretty badass it is getting along in the years though now but in its heyday its actually really good for what it is. Obviously your loadout can't match up to a tomcat or an eagle but you can mount the same armaments in those loadouts and technologies that go with them. Also when you look at the price tag you have to wonder why the air force didn't buy up a bit more, as is the ones they have are usually used in training, and the bulk is exported.
The comet I at 7.7 is actually really good I've been using more than my Vickers mbt and there's never been a shot where I wish I had the bigger gun and I can actually survive a shot with it. Also only 3k for repair unlike the MBT.

Idk if you (PhlyDaddy) ever played Lethal Skies II on PS2 back in the days, but the F5 was one of the most nimble, lightest, and fastest vehicles on that game with an Air-to-Air lock-on system which you to goes berserk really fast, like literally AIM9's? Lock-on faster than your reaction goes xd

You should revisit the T54E1. I thinks it's very underrated. Surprisingly tough, 9 round autoloader at 5sec reload for a 105mm.
