She said in an interview that she had never done a country song but always wanted to do one for fun. That's probably the closest she'll ever get to a country song with this one... and it's awesome of course.

I always liked this song because it cheered me up. At some point I began thinking about the lyrics and realized how absolutely amazing they are! How Grimes takes the situation that's supposedly the worst scenario, "the belly of the beast", and transforms it into something really amazing! "We cut out their eyes and we dance like angels do... We never get sad and we never get sick and we never get weak, we're deep in the belly of the beat..." we're deep in the belly of all the amazing music... How incredible is that?! In this song Grimes prooved to me how great she really is and how she wants to make people's lives better.

This is such an amazing tribute to Kate Bush! Not just the video but the vocals and the production. It's uncanny how she gets some of Kate's vocal eccentricities almost exactly. Grimes is a genius!

@@luigiiodice3517 The dress and hair (I don't think it's a wig!) do not look to me like a homage to Kate Bush but rather just as Grimes! They do not look like Kate Bush except the color of the dress maybe. Grimes took 11 years of ballet, is very passionate about dance and has her own unique style and character. Grimes is a dancer in own right and just becaus her dress is the same color as Kate's, doesn't mean anything!
@@sachalebabe of course Grimes has a unique style of her own, but if I remember correctly her real hair during the time of this video was blonde and short so I guess it was a wig, also, Kate Bush or not, let's agree that both this song and its video are pretty much awesome

Sorry for getting upset it just made me angry people would think this video is a tribute to Kate Bush when it's actually Grimes who's a lso a dancer herself and has a unique special style of her own. The truth is, Grimes does mention Kate Bush as one of her influences so maybe she was some what of an inspiration on her but still, I believe Grimes is Grimes and she mentions other unique , eccentric, artists as influences. All and all, I honestly think this is Grimes and not a homage to anyone else! Yes, I agree, the song and video are awsome! Thanks.

@@ekorobo2082 after some reading, I can conclude that she is indeed gender-neutral, as that's what it means when you can be addressed with all pronouns. These people can still go by she/he/they. She's clearly very aware of the importance of pronouns, and that's great for the rest of the trans community.
One of the top rated comments in Delete Forever was something like "Grimes invented space country and I was there to witness it", I thought that was fitting for this song as well

Update 9/27/22: ty all for being so sweet! Justo had my annual check up and i'm still tumor free 🙂🤘 ---I had a health scare last month, i found out i had a tumor that had to be removed asap, and i listened to this song every day until surgery day finally came.
The lyrics "Everybody dies, we appoint their eyes and we dance like angels do / Writing out your name, little shapes that feign some knowledge of you / And you never get sad / And you' never get sick /And you never get weak" made me feel so much better somehow, like I dunno, they gave me hope.
Anyways, happy to still be here listening to grimes :)

This is one of the most visually pleasing music videos I've ever seen. The dance of bold colours and lucid movements against dramatic, natural terrain - the movement against stillness that makes you want to focus on the dancer and the world behind them. It's true beauty.

I'm late to the Grimes party as well and now all her songs are stuck in my head on repeat. This week my favorite it is Belly of the Beat and Butterfly. It's funny too bc the songs of hers I heard and didn't catch my attention at first are now the songs I'm obsessed with and can't stop listening to.
This is the most ASMR song I've ever heard. My ears (the outside parts of them) feel like they're somehow merging with the music.

grimes is truly one of a kind. Someone might come along and create music of similar sounds but she’s just magic, always will make me feel happy and magical myself when I listen to her.

We're pretty lucky to have a human who can take their painful life experiences and make beautiful art. I mean, I used to hate her music but it was ignorance to what she's about. I wish I could turn grief, loneliness and feeling like an outcast into something that makes people feel everything but.
After seeing the art from Grimes getting more into the world of tech, Id kill to see her get into The tradegy of the commons, Thomas Malthus and the theories of whether technology aids human evolution particularly in regard to resources, or if it just helps us to wreck ourselves quicker. What is 'good', social concious and how people without it usually take more resources to those with social conscious and how that impacts our altruism as a species.
Also break a song down into the arguments for human breeding to stop. That's be awesome, but probably can't since she's pregnant lol

Looking back on this, I really love her earlier music more than the newer stuff. I love it all, but it just seems like she put more of herself into the earlier songs.
