The reason is that we only know about the "Abominations" of Abundance from the Xianzhou, their bitter enemies, that maybe do not even distinguish the creatures (animals, plants, that just propagate without control, because it is their nature, not good, not evil) from people (races who, unlike them, manage to live in harmony with their gifts, and all pros and cons that they bring), seeing all as their "prey", simply dehumanizing every Denizen of Abundance. What one side sees as a freedom from the frailty of mortality, others perceive as a loss of humanity and life they are accustomed to (naturally you cant expect that culture of mortals, with all its disturbing aspects, can bring any good to the race of immortals). The other reason is that I am honestly tired of the cliche in all works of media that is summarized in one sentence: "Immortality = Bad, automatically, and all who seek it, even with admirable motives, are automatically villains because they do not respect the so-called balnce of life and death", because we are never given the alternative, and if such examples arise, we still chose to be afraid of potential cure from death. In that sence the story of Baizhu was like a breath of fresh air, and I had a thought, that if he was born in the universe of HSR, he would probably be the disciple of Sanctus Medicus, if not the Aeon of Abundance instead of Yaoshi. Is it really that bad to be always young, never have to experience sickness, and have all the time in the world just to marvel at the beauty of life, or, is it a bad thing to desire and fantasize about such existence? I think no, because, like in the case of xianzhou immortals, this kind of longevity doesn't erase the concept of death, you can still die from outside factors or the hands of others, but not from old age, or an otherwise incurable sickness. You are just given an opportunity, and choice, to live how much you want, and do anything you want with the given time, in all other aspects, its all up to you, whether you choose to do good, evil, or nothing. You yourself can turn a gift into a curse with your choices. That is where I return to the Xianzhou Alliance, and although I like them and their conflict\concept, they are the ultimate hypocrites for me. The reason is, unlike those planets who suffered from wars and plagues and maybe even harsh natural conditions, due to which life was doomed to perish (to whom Yaoshi came in person to help, without asking anything in return), xianzhou actively searched for Yaoshi themselves and judging by the fact that it took them a good few thousand years to find him, they haven't experienced any plight on a similar scale on their comfortable ships, otherwise, Yaoshi would just come to alliance much sooner themself. And since it is not in the nature of Abundance to turn down any wishes of others, he granted the xianzhou their wish, immortality, nothing more, nothing less. What happened next? Xianzhou, who haven't felt true suffering, and have taken their gift for granted, suffered because of it, but instead of learning from their mistakes, and taking responsibility for the disasters, they blame Yaoshi in their hubris. More than that, they regard their painful experience as an ultimate truth, and because of it see themselves in the right to destroy other civilizations that have, or need to have Abundance for survival. Thus, the only sin of Yaoshi is that he is too trusting, even generous with his gifts, and belives that all can handle them responsibly, which is not the truth with the xianzhou. The Emperor that has send the fleet of Xianzhou wanted immortality out of mortal greed, then the motives of his people were largely similar if they agreed to this journey, but now when they have it, they pose like they have a moral high ground to deny Abundance to everyone else, even those whose motive is to save their home. By irony, even after siding with Hunt, they remained greedy celestials, not unlike those they fight against. Their idea is "If true abundance and peace is unattainable, then you should not even try to work in order to achive them, and if you will, we will come and smite you". Just imagine the scenario that you are living on a dying, apocalyptic world, where resouces are scarce, people turn on each other for the illusionary chance of living to the next day, and then, suddenly, a divinity you never saw comes from the hevens, and revives your home, breathes new life into it, preaching about forgiveness, healing, and altruism. No surprise that you will be thankful to Yaoshi, and worship it as a benevolent god, because from what you saw, it is true. Of course, life still has its problems, but by staying true to the teachings of Yaoshi, and by remembering the horror that was before his arrival (immortality helps in that sense because there always will be those who remember and lived through those events), you manage to overcome them and prosper for hundreds of years, in transition from the cycle of samsara to the state of nirvana. And then, just as suddenly, another "guests" from the hevens arrive, who call you and your planet an abomination. They destroy and kill everything you love and worked for, simply because invaders turned a blessing into a curse for themselves, and think that that is the case for everyone else. No wonder the survivors will call their spiteful god, the Hunt, a devilish bow author, and some even will join warmongering borisins, just to return that pain to the alliance. Funny enough, the xianzhou are not even fully consistent in their distaste for the Abundance, because when it suits them, they will gladly use the technologies of abundance, like their signature starskiffs, that are not constructed, but grown like plants. And regarding Mara, xianzhou sees it as something like a fate worse than death, and for some it really is, but we have seen how disciples were able to control the metamorphosis, thus retaining their consciousness and sanity. If the price for immortality (and cool looking design like disciples have) is a few moments of pain, to no longer feel the pain of illness and erosion of time on the body, then sign me in. In the end, I hope we will meet Denizens of Abundance on our journey not purely as enemies, and get some characters from this faction, because while following the path of trailblazing, we should see and experience all perspectives, otherwise, it is just incomplete and thus, pointless.
The cliche immortality being bad is quite new tho. It used to be the opposite in media as a lot of story often shown immortality as the peak achievement and goal. In fact xienzhou inspiration are the immortals or celestial in both chinese and japanese literacy and they are often depicted as wise sage instead. Keep in mind for xienzhou mara struck is not the main problem. To be fair our main info are heavily tipped towards lan and xienzhou side.And there is slight contradiction of both side propoganda. On xienzhou side they acclaimed the immortality caused scarcity of resource and since abbomination wont die while they can still reproducting, it exhausted xienzhou resource to the point it caused unrest. Meanwhile in abundance propaganda planet that was blessed by yaoshi wouldnt having resource issue as watet will never run dry. We need more info to find out who telling the truth. As dan shu said the role might be swapped if she met us first before tingyun, which i find a valid point. My main consideration is everything that happend in laofu are orcastrated by kafka. It is for her interest that we sided with lan and i am curious what is the reason for that.

I....honestly wouldn't do it. I just feel that I would simply stagnate if i had an eternity to do things on my own. And even if all my loved ones did take it, I still wouldn't because to me the shortness of life is what gives meaning to me. I just know my depression would surface back in full for if i was immortal and then things wouldnt be very good. No i wouldnt take it even before knowing of the troubles that immorality would bring. It would get boring and tedious eventually, like playing a never ending turn based game that never changes or evolves.

It should be noted that Aeon are beings of extremes and Lan the Hunt is also known for killing his own follower with little remorse. Both are not something you really want to come across. Their followers can be bother good and bad depending on how they interpret the path. So far the lore we learned demonized Abundance because it was from the perspective of Xianzhou, and as with most thing Hoyoverse, the side materials are written with the bias of the in-universe writer in mind.
I can’t wait to learn more about the denizen of abundance. For now there is very info about them and their reason for taking the blessing of other civilizations blessed by Yaoshi besides power. Nor do we know the consequences that they suffer if any, whether it’s the same form as the Xianzhou or not.
The problem of Abundance is that they give their blessing to everyone and everything. The problem of a Hunt is that in his vengeance he kills without second thoughts, even if with abundance he kills his own followers and innocents. Their gods and slaves of their Paths. And people are just trying to understand what gods want from them and please them, even if gods doesn't give a fuck.
Like herta said followers are not understand Aeons and they create their own beliefs how they suit to them.Some people understand sometimes like Herta.
I love humans, the good the bad the ugly all of it. We're interesting creatures capable of so much even in the creation of fiction itself it's all wonderful. Damn right I'd take the fruit so I could watch people for better or worse for all of eternity.

Sorry boss, but I’m joining the war on Abundance on the side of Abundance. Abundance is a dream for small groups but for a society it is a nightmare. Doesn’t change the fact that it’s still a blessing, just one that if you let it get too extreme will destroy you. I’ll take the poisoned apple of eternity over a lifespan that lasts less than a century
It all depends on how you handle your eternity. There may be some races or societies out there that was able to adapt better than those humans. Obiviously if you procreate, then your society is going to need "elbow room" which would need for you to be on separate planets or ships, have a limit on how many offspring you can produce, have ability for people to work in chosen fields, have a really good resource management system etc. Just because your society failed doesn't mean that others won't. I'd take the pill after making sure that I didn't have any issues that would be problemsome after I became immortal - like cancer, genetic defects, etc.
for me... sadly, the hunt is incompetent, because the meaning of hunt is to hunt and not utter annihilation unlike destruction. so the Alliance kinda got played around by these beings.

I'd do it there's too much I want to do and there's always new things to learn so I don't think I would have the issue of getting sick of life like many are afraid of.
If I was a somewhat strong being with knowledge and capabilities tantamount to that of an Aeon, sure. I can just have this endless mission of helping other lesser beings as my never-ending distraction (AND I will make sure to think deeply of the possible consequences of my actions...) But if I'm just a normal person with just a normal life, that'll be hell. I dunno if it sounds like I switched things up, but immortality without this grand, bigger-picture purpose is such a waste. Good thing I personally don'tlike the concept of Immortality. It should be given to someone with overall a good, balanced, smart and compassionate will so they can make the most out of it.

one thing i learned about elderscrolls what it taught me.. there isnt really any GOOD OR EVIL.. its nauances and all aspects have both good and bad.... example hunt has the delusional facton that is utterly intolerent of abundance and wants to genocide it.. then u had the other group that disappeared that didnt hate the abundance despite

It should be noted that Aeon are beings of extremes and Lan the Hunt is also known for killing his own follower with little remorse. Both are not something you really want to come across.
Their followers can be bother good and bad depending on how they interpret the path.
So far the lore we learned demonized Abundance because it was from the perspective of Xianzhou, and as with most thing Hoyoverse, the side materials are written with the bias of the in-universe writer in mind.
I can’t wait to learn more about the denizen of abundance. For now there is very info about them and their reason for taking the blessing of other civilizations blessed by Yaoshi besides power. Nor do we know the consequences that they suffer if any, whether it’s the same form as the Xianzhou or not.
The problem of Abundance is that they give their blessing to everyone and everything. The problem of a Hunt is that in his vengeance he kills without second thoughts, even if with abundance he kills his own followers and innocents. Their gods and slaves of their Paths. And people are just trying to understand what gods want from them and please them, even if gods doesn't give a fuck.
Like herta said followers are not understand Aeons and they create their own beliefs how they suit to them.Some people understand sometimes like Herta.
I love humans, the good the bad the ugly all of it. We're interesting creatures capable of so much even in the creation of fiction itself it's all wonderful. Damn right I'd take the fruit so I could watch people for better or worse for all of eternity.
It's funny how most youtubers just assign genders to the Aeons as they seem fitting when Aeons transcend the thought of gender as they are concepts/ideals personified 💀

Sorry boss, but I’m joining the war on Abundance on the side of Abundance. Abundance is a dream for small groups but for a society it is a nightmare. Doesn’t change the fact that it’s still a blessing, just one that if you let it get too extreme will destroy you. I’ll take the poisoned apple of eternity over a lifespan that lasts less than a century
It all depends on how you handle your eternity. There may be some races or societies out there that was able to adapt better than those humans. Obiviously if you procreate, then your society is going to need "elbow room" which would need for you to be on separate planets or ships, have a limit on how many offspring you can produce, have ability for people to work in chosen fields, have a really good resource management system etc. Just because your society failed doesn't mean that others won't. I'd take the pill after making sure that I didn't have any issues that would be problemsome after I became immortal - like cancer, genetic defects, etc.

I'd do it there's too much I want to do and there's always new things to learn so I don't think I would have the issue of getting sick of life like many are afraid of.
If I was a somewhat strong being with knowledge and capabilities tantamount to that of an Aeon, sure. I can just have this endless mission of helping other lesser beings as my never-ending distraction (AND I will make sure to think deeply of the possible consequences of my actions...) But if I'm just a normal person with just a normal life, that'll be hell. I dunno if it sounds like I switched things up, but immortality without this grand, bigger-picture purpose is such a waste. Good thing I personally don'tlike the concept of Immortality. It should be given to someone with overall a good, balanced, smart and compassionate will so they can make the most out of it.
Not going to lie I would take it out of curiosity, I would probably end up being like the xianzhou and following the hunt though if the result is very bad

As my mc took the elixir so i will take the peach. My reason are closer to erudition and completely selfish as i am curious person and i want to learn all i can which is limited to my mortal body. As one of the option i pick as mc. I dont look for immortality as it is, i sought power that i can achieve by having it. Yep i do enjoybthe role play so much lol.
Indeed I would most likely take the elixir not as a goal but as a means to an end. Immortality is only a tool to learn more about the universe and to experience many journeys across stars.
