- 2014 Volkswagen Passat 1.8 Turbo Motor Oil Change takes Torx 40 and Torx 45 size tools. The belly pan bolts are Torx 40 and the motor oil bolt has Torx 45.
I recommend using a Wix motor oil filter.
The limiting factor on this vehicle is the size of the filter. Wix motor oil filters are extremely high end filtration and the filter will get clogged over 10,000 miles because the filter medium filters at 10 to 12 Micron size.
Amsoil EA ( 15,000 Miles ) & EAO ( 25,000 Miles ) oil filters filter at 20 Micron size and they flow better for better oil circulation efficiency. Wix oil filters are limited to 10,000 miles.

That's a great question I honestly don't know I would take it if it was my car to the dealer and they can use the rescan tool or any garage that has a scam tool they plug it in and can turn it off.
You can also contact the dealer and give them the last eight of your VIN number and they should be able to give you the exact procedure.

Very handy video. Just wanted to find out. After doing the oil and oil filter change do you need to reset the "oil change" reminder in the vw Passat or does that automatically reset itself?
You can reset it the reset is in the owner's manual.
I don't even look at it on my Corvette because it goes off at about 5000 miles and I always forget where I am so basically all I do is just reset it every few months and just write down the mileage cuz I go about 15,000 miles on my car on my Corvette for oil change

Great question here now I understand so you're having an oil consumption problem which can be usually about 90% of the time it's because there's carbon buildup around your rings that is keeping the oil ports from allowing the oil to lubricate everything the Rings are stuck and it's blowing right by it's going out your tailpipe so if I personally owned your car what I would do is an Amsoil engine flush you'll see that under cleaners and protectants I would also get a bottle of Pi performance improver and I would also get the signature series motor oil I would also get two filters one Wix filter for the first 2000 miles and then I would switch to the Amsoil filter after about 2,000 miles because what's going to happen is all the buildup that's in your motor is going to end up in the filter because the flush will only get about half of that old carbon build-up out after that you will most likely barely burn any oil only about half a quart of oil every 10,000 miles.
If there's physically something broken inside your motor will then the only thing you can do is have a rebuilt motor but other than that the very best thing you can do immediately is to do the Amsoil engine flush with the pi performance improver this will give you the very best value on the products thank you for being a part of my RUclips community and I appreciate your business future business in advance!!

What about the crush washer . Do it requires with the oil drain bolt?
I've never had a crush washer leak before and I tightening very lightly to about 18 to 25 lb of torque that's about it

Yes that's very common on a lot of the turbo cars and little motors they start to all burn oil at about 50,000 miles The best thing is to do the AMSOIL engine flush also a bottle of the PI performance improver will clean your valves exhaust valves and all different components inside the motor.

How do you do the engine flush for that same car ?
All you do is put the amsoil engine flush in the motor oil for 15 minutes and idle it and then you drain the oil and then replace the filter and then fill it up with fresh oil
Hey I got one of these vehicles, Whats the most common issues you see with them in your experience and what can I do to prevent those issues from rising.
I personally don't know a whole lot about those vehicles I do know a lot of the European vehicles are turbocharged and the most important thing the number one thing is to use the highest quality oil filter in motor oil as possible and change the oil before it gets broken down.
Other than that all the other fluids are very important keeping your cool doing the radiator coolant doing the transmission fluid and changing the rest of the fluids

@billydecker9396 it depends on the filter and the way the vehicles driven most of the filters like the Wix filters are good for about $7,500 Mi of City driving that's what I do on my personal car in the filter looks pretty good however if you're going to push it out to 10,000 miles or more you would only want to use in my opinion is the Amsoil filter it's a proprietary synthetic media and it holds four times more contaminants than a cellulose paper filter and that filter is good up to 15,000 miles
@@Syntheticoilprotection Yes. I have yet to see a 10K filter. Ford and VW claim 10K oil changes in their service manuals, but this is misleading and leads to premature wear and end of services life of the vehicle.
@billydecker9396 yeah I mean if you live somewhere with very thick dense air like Florida and you do all highway driving with no mountains you can easily go 10,000 miles it's just that everywhere else isn't that thick air and it's always up and downhill LOL which creates more heat so you're right pretty much 92% of everywhere you would want to have a filter change and run a much better oil LOL👍

The other big difference is we're Scar and the way your pistons and cams are protected with Amsoil Amsoil is 100% synthetic so the film strength is more complete you'll have less friction less where your bearings last longer your cold starts will be much smoother because the molecules are much closer shape than Mineral Wells and you're cold starts will be significantly better with less we're because about 80% of the wear on an engine is during the cold start.
Also the Amsoil oil filters are a huge difference as well.

It's a Starkey to take off the oil pan it's like a 22 I think and the oil filter is a pressure fit

I think it took 5.9 so I would get 7 or 8 quarts. That way if you want to do a filter change and you can always top it off a little more.

From all of my research, super tech is awesome oil, it's SN-Plus Certified. Only problem is Walmart doesn't carry it in the 5-40 or 0-40 weight for eurotrash.
