Gayla Peevey's "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" Sing-A-Long 2018

- On Nov. 28, Gayla Peevey, singer of the holiday favorite "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" visited the OKC Zoo for a live performance in honor of the song's 65th anniversary!
Loved by many for generations, this seasonal melody about the perfect holiday present (a hippo!) has a unique connection to the OKC Zoo. Recorded in 1953, by OKC native Gayla, “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” was inspiration for getting the Zoo its first hippopotamus - Matilda.
Shopping for a hippo fan this year? To commemorate this special anniversary, the OKC Zoo partnered with Peppermint Narwhal to design a T-shirt, available for $35, with proceeds benefiting pygmy hippo conservation. Also available at the OKC Zoo, is a Pygmy Hippo Limited Edition animal adoption package ($100) that includes a pygmy hippo plush, adoption certificate, online name recognition, pygmy hippo fact sheet, OKC Zoo canvas tote, two OKC Zoo general admission tickets, a postcard autographed by Gayla Peevey and the iconic T-shirt. Lots of childstars from back in the day have such recognizable voices, I can't get enough of Jackson 5 still. Nathalie Pinzon she can make her voce sound that way ...and so can I, but I’m telling you, her voice, whether singing or speaking, is almost as angelic as as her heart truly is! I’ve been lucky enough to have known her my entire life....Gayla is my aunt, and I have always loved her more like a big sister! She is a model of what humanity should be.

This would be a great video if it just had Ms. Peevey singing the song, but what's with all the narration and extraneous video overlay? IT's a 49 second video with less than 10 seconds of her actually performing the song. It's mostly narration about her appearance. Total waste of time.
