You just knew they were going to be very expensive and impractical in the real world. Who do the CAMH club think their market is. Totally missing their membership wishes. Just look around there sites and look what people are driving

CAMC completely missing the point with all these EVs. RANGE!!. I couldn't even get to the lake district towing my caravan as there are no charging points between North y yorkshire and Cumbria.

Does anyone who tests these cars for CAMC live in the real world and actually tow a caravan. A Bentley and a Porsche for towing along with EVs. Delusional at best.

How are you meant to go long distances with an EV if there is no infostructure to charge with a caravan attached? IMO EV's are pointless at present. Plug in Hybrids, did you test when the battery was empty and just using the engine, to get a real world test.

You've not shown how easy cars are to recharge while towing, or how much the range drops

Who on earth would go caravanning if they owned a Bentley.
CAMC need to get real! No wonder they get so much negativity 👎

we had to sell the bentley to afford the camc pitch fees..

Why not have a new category? It would be called " Best affordable tow car? " or " Best second hand tow car?"

CAMC have gone nuts. I played a game with the kids the other week and counted 250 caravans on a 30 mile stretch of the M5. Didn't see one of them towing with a Porsche or Bentley. Just real people with real budgets.
I only stay a member now coz my favourite site is members only.

I am usually very supportive of CAMC activities, but the 2023 awards seemed to be much more useful to the average CAMC member than this 2024 awards list. The reality is that, while diesel cars now account for only 4% of new car sales, petrol powered vehicles are by far the largest sector, at 42% of new sales (Official SMMT figures for 2023). BEV sales have dropped slightly this year, as customer grapple with the practicalities of charging en route with solo vehicles, let alone towing vehicles.
You fail to mention the practical issues involved in recharging a BEV or hybrid on the road while towing, which usually involves unhitching to access the charging station where there is room to unhitch. Also the towing range of award winners is not addressed.
If you really want to be "inclusive" in the current economic climate then maybe you should forget about the Bentleys and Porsches, and consider a used car tow awards for cars 1-5 years old, by second hand value and towing weight category.

What on earth!!! People look to these awards to find a recommendation for a tow car. Average caravanners want a car they can afford. What car should I choose is one of the most frequent questions on forums. They look to the CAMC for this advice. Well not this year. An almost with one exception the Skoda, bizarre selection of cars no one will want nor can afford. Who out of the 1k per year who buys a Bentley will tow a caravan? It’s a joke. Badly done CAMC badly done.

and thats because its run by marketing people who probably had some really nice days out selecting cars to test. I wonder what the testers really thought of this years selection..

I think the club is totally out of touch with its members. Porsche, Bentleys - are you having a laugh or is it April Fools Day.

How van you even consider EVs as tow cars?? Their ridiculous range and charging time make them completely useless for towing duty.

  • @jondu-sud274

Bentley, Porche, VW id car........very nice I am sure. How about ”getting real” in each category and giving normal people a more economic alrernative in each. The prices must be absolutely eyewatering !

I am an EV driver and buying a caravan. Your choices of EVs as category winners are totally out of touch with reality, whilst at the same time making it impossible or very difficult to charge an EV at most sites, being the latest ripoff of members. Until you actually support EV drivers with proper infrastructure, stop pushing them down the throat of other members under the pretence of being green! And yes, I drive a Tesla and love it.

Joke off the year ,lets tow together with my 2003 diesel and your EV with 1600 kg caravan and see when will i arrive at 1000 km trip and when your EV.
EVs are good only if you tow and camp around your neighborhood.
And that 1.0 engine will die after 2 years off towing, maybe even less .
No one can beat diesels in towing ,in range and efficiency ,my opel insignia tourer 2.0 diesel get 700 km range on one tank while towing 1600 kg caravan

  • @pasopaso2

Why are you testing ev cars for towing, you need to recharge for 30 - 40 minutes every 100 -200 kilometers.

  • @presterjohn71
    @presterjohn71 6 месяцев назад +1

This list is utterly bizarre. If I could afford some of those cars you'd not see me within a million miles of those cars. I love EVs but the Polestar is the only one that fits the bill. The Buzz has terrible range and the Nissan is overpriced.

ev and towing, hmmmmmm. don't recommend these to people with little knowledge , its just wrong
