Stunning. One of my favorite bodystyles ever. Love the loop bumper up front and the tail lights in the bumper. Overall styling on the outside is so wonderful. Thanks for sharing, Lou!
I agree, the colors on Mr. McDonald's '71 GTX are quite striking, especially under the hood. The white interior with the pistolgrip shifter must be a crowd pleaser, too. What a great muscle car! Thanks, Lou!
A friend of my dad's had a 1971 Plymouth Satellite, the "civillan" version of this the GTX, back when it was new. It was green & had the 440, instead of the Hemi. Riding in that car was the 1st time I'd experianced the feeling of rapid acceleration. Always loved cars, but that experience as an 8 year old, began my fascination with automotive performance.

Amazing how so many people are under the impression that performance died after the 1970 model year. Truth is only GM lowered their compression ratios in '71, Ford and Mopar did not. Their '71 engine lineup was the same for '70, although I think Chrysler did drop the compression .2 on the 6-BBL for a 5HP drop to 385. Even AMC held on until mid-year before lowering theirs. I love the fact that Al put in an overdrive and is out there driving this Hemi like Mother Mopar intended. BTW, those 11" drums are no joke, even if they're manuals. Those big drum brakes stop very well! Cool car, cool video!
Still...the superiority of disc brakes is well-proven...I am amazed, that disc brakes were an "option" in 1971! Most American cars had disc brakes up front at least, by 1970. And this powerhouse of a car should have been ordered with discs, all the way around! But I guess the drum brakes make this rare car even more valuable? lol.

So many wonderful cars over a few years time. I've owned some of them. Nothing like them today and real, normal people could afford most of them during the Muscle Car Age. My GTX was a 1969 440. One & one half years old when I bought it. Not Today $$$$$$$$$$ Beautiful, Wonderful Car. Thank You Both.
Positively beautiful and extraordinary car I like the way he disassembled the model car from Kmart and painted the white interior in it to matches real car😀❤
Love my 71 Roadrunner… 383 - 4 speed, sure wish I had the Air Grabber on mine, it’s the coolest one ever made. Always loved the Curious and even the Citroen yellow but white interior is by far the classiest. Hemi 4 speed cars are very special and it sounds like he has a love for B-bodies like I do. Damn beautiful GTX !!👍🏼
Cool GTX I had 1972 petty blue road runner with same hood The 1971 mopars had those high back seats like the challengers that when your a short guy its perfect to drive Thanks Lou
Very cool GTX - these always seem to be overshadowed by some of the other Mopar classics of the era. This one is spectacular- love it. Thanks Lou and Al!

Back in ancient times when this body style first arrived I really thought Chrysler had made a styling misstep. The mechanicals were always great but the rest? No. But now like so many things as I become an old man I find these much better looking. That is a beautiful car in that color combo. Nice find Lou.
The soda bottle bodies were special. Richard Petty drove the '71 roadrunner on the NASCAR tracks 55 years ago. This car probably built before Jan. '71. when front disk brakes were mandated by the National Safety Highway Administration. If it didn't have the vinyl top, it probably would have the strobe stripe over the top. Cool ride Lou!

Oh big bro Lou. WOW-now THIS is a car to come home to😜. Your little brother from another mother JV Johnny just returned from a trip to Oaxaca and Huatulco, Mexico (my first time in sunny ole Mexico), where my JV baseball jock tube socked stocking feet were up and kicking cause of all those gorgeous Mexican gals, Lou. No doubt, man. My sneakers blown right off my stocking feet, man lol 🤪🤣. This GTX has a similar quality to it, and with a super angry exhaust note, to boot. The fuselage looks of these Chrysler cars never gets old and when I see one, my sneakers are immediately left behind for a brother to throw back to me like a football. Just stunning, Lou. Al here is an amazing steward of her and I am so thankful you brought her to us for inspiration, big bro. ⚾⚾JV Johnny
Awesome car! Sexy! Designed by Elwood Engel's team, and he designed the 1971-72 Plymouth Satellite, GTX, and Road Runner as sort of a tribute to Virgil M. Exner Sr.'s 1960 Plymouth XNR, with the wraparound front bumper-grille assembly especially. Great to see this rare Hemi car. I remember these! Sounds mean, like a race car at the track.
Beautiful car ,but Lou let owner know this on this, beautiful car before it became a major problem later on down the road !! That on this vinyl hard top roof ,on the driver left side of the roof ,just the slightly lower part there is a rust Bubble coming through OK !! Other then that problem , this Plymouth GTX 426 Hemi Muscle car looks flawless and awesome!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪💪💪🥊🥊🥊🥊
The color name "Curious Yellow" is from the Movie; "I'm Curious Yellow". They also made a couple more of those movies- Curious Blue, etc. I had a friend who bought a 21 foot Donze boat with a 427 Ford engine in it, from the producer of the movie. The name on the boat Was "Curious Yellow" and it was that color. Great Boat & of course, this is a Great Car.
That's one awesome looking muscle car there odd color but definitely still very cool and the Hemi still sounds great although I'm surprised that when they order the the car didn't order it with power brakes🎉
This is another nice muscle car from 1971. There is another thing that I noticed from the engine sound that was called an angry sound. This car sounds like it has a racing camshaft installed to give the engine more power. The cars of today have variable valve timing. However in the past the valve timing was fixed. To get more power a racing camshaft could be installed in the engine. The main sign of a racing camshaft is a rough idle, which this car has. Car manufacturers have commonly gone for a camshaft that gives a smooth engine idle, with somewhat less power to satisfy car buyers.
Kinda funny whenever I see an "Air Grabber" hood. . I remember back in the day, those things would quit working and instead of repairing them we'd rip it apart and bolt a snorkel on the the hood. 😆. If we only knew then what we knew now.

super nice model! Very nice engine, but has a little "knock" and one of his silencers has a problem(inside's shaking). The studs from the rear spoiler are to long(4.03). For the rest no comments ;-) , just a great great car, I love the early 70ties !
Hi Cas par, Happy to read you enjoy this "great great car" :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing what you notice, Lou

Lou, what classic muscle car do you have?
Douglas, Waiting for my classic muscle cars to come soon, however until then, you see my car at the end of the videos. Here a feature on mine, Lou ruclips.net/video/_cVNSu5xv6Y/видео.html
@@loucostabile Sweet ride Lou. It all makes sense once I saw the license plate… 😝
The only thing that would look better would be the canopy roof, but too rare to not be original.

Better looking than the Charger
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car over a Charger.
🙂👍
:-)
Anyone notice the manual choke ?
Thank you for sharing what you notice.
Is that an aftermarket, repop air cleaner cover? The edge of the top does not look wide enough, and looks uneven to me.
Hmmm, not sure.
I always thought the 71 Rallye Dash tach went to 8k
Thank you for viewing and sharing what you notice.
So sinister looking
Thanks for viewing and sharing.
Beautiful car, but man does it look
Heavy.

Sounds like it's about to throw a rod.
Hmmm, that would not be good.
The interior wood grain looks like it is plastic on the dash. Manual drum brakes and a Hemi, owner wanted to cheat death.
Thanks for sharing. Are you watching the commercials before the videos in full? If you skip them I don't get paid and does not help me share with you. Thanks in advance.
