I was fortunate enough that my brother took me to NASCAR races in '69 and '70 - I got to see the good old boys and the Ford/Mercury vs Dodge/Plymouth wars! - the fact is that Dodge/ Plymouth did win a few more races than Ford/ Mercury during that time, but they didn't "dominate." The wings only had the advantage on the super speedways.

Nascar needs to change its name to Nacar. It is no longer a stock car racing association and hasn't been for a long time. One of a few reasons I quit watching it a long time ago. I always wanted a Plymouth Superbird. Between the Challenger and the Cuda, I vote Challenger. That '64 Belvedere is gorgeous.
I don't see a lot of people talk about it, but I love the "old" video quality look paired with 60 fps and high quality audio a lot of the older recorded films/episodes/videos had.
You’re not alone my friend lol. That’s part of the reason I love to watch these compilation episodes. Also, as we all get older there seems to be fewer and fewer of these shows with the fantastic cars of the 50’s, 60’s, and early 70’s. My son is only in his early 30’s and his friends had no idea that any of these cars even existed until I started bringing them to events like you see in this video. I have successfully created almost a dozen “youngsters” into HEMI-Heads lol Now all they talk about is which car are they going to restore! Lol Long live Mopar!! Lol Cheers

My ‘67 Fury III 2-door with the 383 came with full size wheel covers that were difficult to put on even with a rubber hammer. I replaced them with the same red line dog dish hubcaps on that Charger Daytona. Got them from a local junkyard for $5 each in 1980. Years later and that car is long gone but I wish I saved those hubcaps.
I remember when I was a kid my mum drove a 1964 dodge and the transmission was a push button thing on the dash to the left of the steering column. You had to move the “Park” lever down and be in neutral to start the car lol then you lifted the lever up and pushed the “Drive” button to get going lol. Loved that car as a kid and I remember using it for dates when I was a teenager lol Cheers
A car that needs mentioning is the Formula S Barracuda. I had a Turquoise 1967, 383 with 335 h.p. It had Sure Grip rear, and non-power front disc brakes. Just a great car of it's day, with performance on par with some of the big boys. Sadly it was destroyed by a van who T-boned me, pulling out from a re-hab facility. T.S. RACING

You should watch the compilation show he did for Chevy’s. I just finished watching it and it was fantastic! I will definitely be watching it again! lol I shared it with my son and a couple of my friends that are into cars and of course I shared it with my neighbour who is into hot rods and street rods. He’s really into the paint jobs and detailing with pinstripes and ghost flames. He does amazing work all free hand and how he can do a mirror image is like magic! He helps me keep my vehicles looking good because I seem to accumulate scratches with no effort on my part at all lol
Mopars are great. I wish they didn't cost so much now. A 383/440 Road or Bee in the mid-80s cost half of what you'd pay for a equivalent chevelle ss not only making it a great car but a good deal too. Man times have changed and all those gm guys that jumped ship just to be cool.
I agree with you about the cost of vehicles now. In 2015 I bought a RAM 1500 that cost more than my parents first house lol. A lot of the cars now literally cost 10-15 times more than they did in the late 60’s. You can very easily find a new truck for $60k-$80k! That’s insane! Lol Cheers

Love the Daytona part, I had a Superbird, but that part at 27:16 was the real highlight... who doesn't love a '64 Hemi car, even if it's a replicar? I had a 4-dr Belvidere, 318 Poly Torqueflite push-button (no reverse valve body!), white and red just like this car shown . I'd give your right arm to own it again.
1968 Dodge charger R/T 440 Magnum. My Dad purchased one when I was kid. I still love this car to this very day. In Elementary school my nick name was Dodge charger.

I love those chrysler wheels, My black on black 1974 Charger SE had those wheels. In 1979 at age 16 it was my first car. I paid cash for it from money I had saved from age 10 cutting laws and other jobs as I became a teen. I was always hustling up jobs as a kid. I paid my own gas, insurance everything, mom and pops had a tight budget. They did the best they could.
37:00 Most people don't realize this but the Challenger had a longer wheel base than the Barracuda. The Super Bee's had longer Wheel bases than the Road Runners. Most think they are the same car except for badging and trims....WRONG.
From 1975 until 2002, I owned a 1971 Dodge Demon 340 with factory ralley wheels, pistol grip 4 speed and posi rear end. In 1984, I did an engine rebuild and restored the rest of the car with new paint. As a hobbyist, I did all my own work. Nobody else does that, money is no object to them and they always hire everything out. I kept the car factory stock, original size F70 tires, no engine mods except Chrysler electronic ignition. I sold the Demon because my new wife had no feelings or understanding of old cars, but I have serious regrets today

Top Banana and Lemon Twist yellow were the same color. Code FY1. Top Banana was Dodge, Lemon Twist was Plymouth. The 'Cuda at the beginning is this color 😉
So a couple of things about that 440 six pack cuda at the start... The 426 Hemi was de-tuned for the street. Return that tune and no the 440 wouldn't have kept up. Second the six pack is based of both the ford and chevy six pack systems. In this case the carbs are based on the ford and the linkage is based off the chevy.
At 1:27:06 while they are driving the 1958 Chrysler 300D they are talking about how expensive it was at $6,000 new. The driver says that a 3 bedroom house was going for $15,000 in 1958. My neighbour when I was a teenager came home one day in 1982 in a brand new car. He seemed a bit worked up about something so I asked him about it. He said he paid more for the car than he had his house lol. In 1957 he bought his 3 bedroom/2 bath home in a really good neighbourhood for $11,500! and his new car was around $14,000. How I long for those days to return lol. He never refinanced his home, he simply made the same payment every month for 30 years lol I think his house payment was less than $100 per month lol My first house back in the late 1980’s was $800 per month! That’s more than he paid in 6 months lol. No wonder life takes 2 incomes per home now. I was fortunate enough to become an electrician and made enough $$$ to support my wife and children on one income and we lived well. Definitely in the upper middle class. Now its the end of 2021 and these young people can’t make it on their own anymore. My son is married and has 2 boys. I wanted them to not have to worry so much about money and I didn’t want him to have to wait for me to die before getting his inheritance lol. So I bought them a house that they could make into their home and not worry about making a mortgage payment. It also helps them not stress over every little thing like most of their friends do. It also means they don’t have to work long hours just to make ends meet which means they get to spend more time with my grandsons and so do I lol Cheers
There was another aspect to Petty switching to Ford- and that was the Boss 429. With the Talladega's slippery shape and the 429 power the Ford was a winner. Petty switched back- at least partly- because Ford pulled out of racing.
The Chevy corvettes left room for the air to go over the windshield instead of hitting the fire wall and going down underneath the fire wall. Seconds drop off in the weirdest ways. Duel points helped and learning how to set them up to get them to matching the timing. Especially running a full cam with pop up pistons. Big Daddy Don knew all the tricks. With cheater tread tires running cold with no burn outs was another trick he had me do. He said the sticky track would work for me. The man was always right. I never questioned his words. I bought a 1970 Cuda 442 manual four speed. Off of a Major for three thousand dollars. Eleven thousand miles on odometer. And sold it for thirty five thousand dollars in 1994. It had fifty one thousand miles on the odometer. It was a sleeper with the rally wheels with small caps and spinners. Just two crome Cuda on each side front fenders and crome large Cuda on tail below trunk lid. Metal flake blue with blue bucket seats and rear seats all leather. AC, am/fm caset player. No rust. Shinny metal and paint job under carriage like just rolled off factory floor. Banker in OKC.Ok. Sent man for two hundred dollars to inspect it. Told me I could have gotten more for the Cuda at a auction it would have been well over fifty thousand. I had already told the banker the price and I stood on my word. SEMPER FIDELIS
I started with a Chevy 396 rebored to a 402. Pop up pistons. Ground and policed heads w/heavy duty vale’s and springs. Muncie four speed with cut linkage. In a 66 super sports S/S. Hooker headers, cut-outs between front axle and door. 15 inch tires hosier cheater slicks. Two gallon tank where battery was. Moving battery to rear trunk. Removing rear seats, hood, and jack & spear tire. I had a bum or so I thought who I met at the track in Anaheim California. Later to find out his name was Big Daddy Don Garlet. He had my car set to run low nines. When I started running twelve’s he took me down to low nines. He had me go to a holly eight fifty carb. Remove inside front finders wells & and pull windshield wipers off. Back then he was working with Shirley Muldowney and John Force. Early seventies. I was in the Marine Corps stationed at El Toro Marine Air Base. I ran APO fuel from the base in my two gallon tank up front in battery place. Draining my gas tank when I got to the track. Big Daddy even had me pull my ajr conditioner out and the cooler. When I ran he would set up the races and I would make quite a bit of money, winning. My car was stolen right before I got discharged. It was the end of my racing days. IT was insured but I did miss it. SEMPER FIDELIS
Those scoops on the quarter panels- they SAID it was fr tyre clearance but it was really to cool the brakes. It was a way of getting around the rules that said you couldn't cut panels to help cool the brakes. Think about it- those scoops are thin as but the nascar tyres were huge. It would have helped clearance at all, it was about the brakes.
Mopar muscle styling didn't start to look good until 68' with the 68' B body cars. Before that they still had that Stodgy Virgil Exner styling. The 67' Barracuda was a big improvement over the old Valiant Barracuda body. But I will admit just by adding some fat tires to a pre 68' model can drastically improve the looks.
I believe your data is wrong boutvthe front fenders .. if I’m not mistaken they re from Coronet .. and cut to accommodate the nose cone fir Daytona !!!

Now its the end of 2021 and these young people can’t make it on their own anymore. My son is married and has 2 boys. I wanted them to not have to worry so much about money and I didn’t want him to have to wait for me to die before getting his inheritance lol. So I bought them a house that they could make into their home and not worry about making a mortgage payment. It also helps them not stress over every little thing like most of their friends do. It also means they don’t have to work long hours just to make ends meet which means they get to spend more time with my grandsons and so do I lol

There was another aspect to Petty switching to Ford- and that was the Boss 429. With the Talladega's slippery shape and the 429 power the Ford was a winner. Petty switched back- at least partly- because Ford pulled out of racing.

Just two crome Cuda on each side front fenders and crome large Cuda on tail below trunk lid. Metal flake blue with blue bucket seats and rear seats all leather. AC, am/fm caset player. No rust. Shinny metal and paint job under carriage like just rolled off factory floor. Banker in OKC.Ok. Sent man for two hundred dollars to inspect it. Told me I could have gotten more for the Cuda at a auction it would have been well over fifty thousand. I had already told the banker the price and I stood on my word. SEMPER FIDELIS

I started with a Chevy 396 rebored to a 402. Pop up pistons. Ground and policed heads w/heavy duty vale’s and springs. Muncie four speed with cut linkage. In a 66 super sports S/S. Hooker headers, cut-outs between front axle and door. 15 inch tires hosier cheater slicks. Two gallon tank where battery was. Moving battery to rear trunk. Removing rear seats, hood, and jack & spear tire. I had a bum or so I thought who I met at the track in Anaheim California. Later to find out his name was Big Daddy Don Garlet. He had my car set to run low nines. When I started running twelve’s he took me down to low nines. He had me go to a holly eight fifty carb. Remove inside front finders wells & and pull windshield wipers off. Back then he was working with Shirley Muldowney and John Force. Early seventies. I was in the Marine Corps stationed at El Toro Marine Air Base. I ran APO fuel from the base in my two gallon tank up front in battery place. Draining my gas tank when I got to the track. Big Daddy even had me pull my ajr conditioner out and the cooler. When I ran he would set up the races and I would make quite a bit of money, winning. My car was stolen right before I got discharged. It was the end of my racing days. IT was insured but I did miss it. SEMPER FIDELIS
Those scoops on the quarter panels- they SAID it was fr tyre clearance but it was really to cool the brakes. It was a way of getting around the rules that said you couldn't cut panels to help cool the brakes. Think about it- those scoops are thin as but the nascar tyres were huge. It would have helped clearance at all, it was about the brakes.

Mopar muscle styling didn't start to look good until 68' with the 68' B body cars. Before that they still had that Stodgy Virgil Exner styling. The 67' Barracuda was a big improvement over the old Valiant Barracuda body. But I will admit just by adding some fat tires to a pre 68' model can drastically improve the looks.

I believe your data is wrong boutvthe front fenders .. if I’m not mistaken they re from Coronet .. and cut to accommodate the nose cone fir Daytona !!!
