The reason the last character had so many is that that is a player created character. Throughout the story you can unlock the blazin moves of those you fight against but there are also some moves that are unique to the player character, which are the moves shown by the last guy.
Def Jam fight for New York is considered one of the best game in the 2000s for that reason. Still own a copy myself and a PS2 because of it. I’d rate the game 20/10.
This game was truly a gem when it first came out, too have all these rappers appear in one game was revolutionary. Sadly we won't see this kind of game again due to current music licensing, and game developers under paying them from being in this game.
What I really like about the game is that you can create your own characters, select up three out of the five fighting styles and get creative with it I’ve seen people create Bruce Lee, characters from the Yakuza Games, 50 Cent, 2Pac, DMX and so many others.

I adore this game so much. Hurts to know that you have to pay an arm and a leg just to get a copy nowadays, and the likelihood of a remaster is slim to none. Record labels have ruined any chances of that happening. This is one of the instances where I think piracy for the game is totally okay, because again, there's no way to buy it officially anymore, and even if you do manage to get your hands on an official copy Def jam and EA aren't making any money from it. So there's really no point in them getting mad for people pirating it. .
Being a hip hop and wrestling fan, Fight For NY became an instant favorite of mine! I play it from time to time and it’s instant nostalgia especially when you dress your character in the hip hop fashion labels that were hot at the time like Sean John, FUBU, and Rocawear.
The DefJam Series is SO FRIGGIN COOL! It always makes me happy that I played games like this with some of my Favorite Rappers. I forgot how many characters were in this game, and I gotta say it still holds up with the animations and voice acting. Surprised you knew about Carmen Electra and Henry Rollins, but not Method Man (who appeared as Blaze). Although I'll admit, didn't know Busta Rhymes (who appeared as Magic) was in this. Anyways this was a trilogy with Def Jam: Vendetta being the first, and Def Jam: Icon being the last. Incase you didn't know Def Jam is actually the record label that a lot of these artists were under by, so Shock G, I believe you were talking about was not under the Def Jam label.
There's also Redman (who is Doc) and Fat Joe (which he is called Crack). On the topic of Def Jam one of the fighters Chaing was a producer at Def Jam (although I dont know his real name or if he still is a producer or not.)
Ah okay, that makes sense why certain musicians were in this then. Method Man is someone I’ve heard about and know, but honestly can’t say I’ve ever seen 😂🤗
Having played this game alot, the thing I appreciate the most just based on your Reactions is how each fighters Dialogue is unlike any other fighting game series. Some are hilarious, some are threatening, some are just weird.
What’s crazy about this game in particular is that they were able to execute these combos and fighting styles without motion capture. I still can’t wrap my mind around how the hell they did this!!!!
This game's characters are reskins of characters from a different wrestling game, as this game uses the engine of other wrestling games. They did the same with the Wu-Tang game; it is a reskin of the game Thrill Kill and you can unlock the original skins of the characters after you complete the main story.
Love this game I really wished they made a new one. I remember I think it was a year or two ago that they were teasing a new game. They asked for a certain amount of people to follow on Twitter to get the news faster. They ended up revealing a new album of someone which made everyone disappointed.
Yeah. Ice T posted it on his Instagram and basically tried to start a petition to remake the game. But that's totally up to EA Games and the rest of the development studios. I already know that a lot of fans wants this game remade. It's a classic and one of the best fighting games that ever came out in 2004.
They just read my mind, it's great that they discovered this great game and PS2 classic, I was thinking of telling you about this game so that you could react to your blazin moves, hip-hop stars giving each other great beatings
Who ever would have thought a fighting game with rappers would be good? Well, this, the first one Def Jam Vendetta, and the third and final game Def Jam Icon showed it was possible. Both games were super fun back in the day. Awesome to see you react to it! Cheers!
This is one of my favorite games growing up the fact we can play as multiple celebrities from the R&B and Hip-Hop industry and some actors to wish they brought this game back.

@@Mr.2Dirty Probably because some of these artists aren't known or weren't THAT popular so they strong armed them into not having to pay. If they did this today, every artist from Nicki Minaj, Lil Nas to Mason Ramsey would sue
The Predecessor was Def Jam Vendetta which was also a certified classic. Both Vendetta and FFNY was just GOATED in the golden era of the PS2/Xbox era. FACTOID: In the story mode, Crack is unbelievably the HARDEST character that would make you throw your controller out the window. I'm sure everyone here would agree with that.
FYI Flava Flav's fighting style is called "Drunken Boxing". It's insane difficult to master and even more so to defend against because the whole point is for the fighter to act drunk while fighting.
You guys should react to Def Jam Vendetta next. There’s some exclusive Japanese rappers on the Japan PS2 version of Vendetta. Would be very interesting to see how you guys react to those moves 😁
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Looking forward to it! I love watching y’all react to these kinda videos you both know how to appreciate the games, and give good input on whatever you guys enjoyed from it
Fun fact: This game had a tournament competitive scene, and Sticky Fingaz is so strong that he's banned from every tournament. There's also the top tiers, like Crow (Snoop Dogg), Bubba Sparxxx, Carmen Electra, etc. who most of the time are also banned from tournamment play for being so strong (although, some tournaments do allow players to pick these and other banned characters, except for Sticky Fingaz)
Top 5 most savage rockit gaming rap battles 5:Six vs Bendy 4:Bendy vs Sans 3:Who's scarier(Bendy and the ink machine vs Baldi's Basics) 2:Freddy vs Bendy part 7 1:Freddy vs Bendy(I'm not just saying that because it was the very first Rockit gaming rap I ever heard but because of how savage it was I'm not gonna give any spoilers but you'll know why I said it was the most savage when you guys react to it)
Def Jam: Fight for NY is AWESOME, I used to play it a lot back on the XBox, many moons ago. I really hope they do a remaster of this game for the PC, it's a classic. My favourite Blazin' Move was Crazy legs, fast, stylish and to the point.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames fun fact too if it hasn't been said already, this came out with an ESRB rating of "T" for Teen. I think now it might get the "M" rating for the language 😂
Seeing this reminded me of when you two watched the For Honor executions for Tempest, and in a chain of events, seeing THAT reminded me that there are assassinations in Halo, which lead me to looking at executions for Gears of War. Long story short, I have 2 suggestions: -Halo 5 Assassinations. -Gears of War 5 Executions.
Yessssss, you guys finally did it. I got too many favorite ones, it's hard to pick. I still say Redman (Doc) had the funniest intro, my favorite outro was Havoc, and my favorite rage scream was Sticky Fingaz. And just to let y'all know, Redman (Doc) is really funny like that in real life. He was in the movie How High and Seed Of Chucky. True legend. And if you guys were to react to the story mode and trailer, you will two witness the legendary moments, we had growing up 😎💪💪💪. And LL Cool J might not have been in the game but they had his song "Mama Said Knock You Out" in the soundtrack and they basically gave him a skin with Dan G with the purple tracksuit and Kangol hat on. Lastly just in case you didn't recognize them in the beginning, (Blaze) was Method Man, (Crack) was Fat Joe, (Magic) was Busta Rhymes, and (O.E) was Omar Epps
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames most definitely..........not definitive lol. No? Ok. But yeah it was definitely a good game. I also recommend doing Def Jam Vendetta Blazing videos as well because it was some moves that they didn't have in this one. You going to see some of the same moves because Vendetta was the first one but its definitely worth it.
I love this game so much and I wanted to answer some comments you made just because I like this game so much. What was with the dude in the Suit? They made EVERYONE in this game a playable character. Including the folks who run the shops in the game. Jacob runs the Jewelery store where you can kit your create a character out with Rings, Earrings, Chains, bracelets and watches. Other shopkeepers include the Clothing Store (Snowman), Tattooist (Manny), and Hairdresser (Stingray). Henry Rollins runs the gym where you spend EXP to improve yourself, and even buy these moves for yourself (You can get any one from a character you've beat in story mode). Where's LL Cool J? Not Playable, but "Mama Said Knock You Out" is on the soundtrack. I love when his song comes up, I see it as a good sign when I play.
If anyone's interested, I interviewed the Def Jam: Fight for NY Voice Actor for the Main Character (Rough Voice) and the fighter Solo. You can find the interview on my channel, it's over an hour long and is super insightful into his involvement with the game. He talks about so much interesting stuff!
The reason the last character had so many is that that is a player created character. Throughout the story you can unlock the blazin moves of those you fight against but there are also some moves that are unique to the player character, which are the moves shown by the last guy.

That last one is the Player's Character, thats why he has so many finisher, I love that game, played it a lot when I was younger lol
😎🤟
You guys are great 👍🏼. Always drinking for every reaction too lol 🍻 cheers
Cheers! 🍾🥂🍻
I had to see the Mack 10 reaction his was vicious as hell. 😂
They were more vicious than we expected. Especially all the bone crunching 😝
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames lmaoI’m surprised the wife handled it as well as she did. 😂🔥
😎🤟
@Cab Ikari maaaaaaan the handicap match took me from 2 hours to pass...
@Cab Ikari yea but on hard difficulty shit was damn near impossible and blaze would get smashed within seconds lol
@Cab Ikari yup you right if I get my hands on this game again i know what to do now lol
I love this game I having play this game when I was a kid
FYI Flava Flav's fighting style is called "Drunken Boxing". It's insane difficult to master and even more so to defend against because the whole point is for the fighter to act drunk while fighting.
Didn’t Jackie Chan have a movie where he did that style 🤔🙂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames A trilogy, in fact, called "The Drunken Master".
Wow, that takes me back! I feel old right now, thanks a lot! ^^
Haha, we hadn’t meant to make you feel old 😜🤗☺️🥳
Xzibit used to Pimp your Ride, now he's gonna Take your Hide. :D
😂 I remember that show 😀
Henry Rollins was in the band Black Flag. He now has a pod cast.
Lol when I was a kid this game made me think rappers really could fight like this 🤣
Lmao 😂
2:18 that was a good laugh 😂
Yup. A good line 😂
Holy crap!!!! I cant believe ur reacting to this! This was my favourite game when i was a kid
☺️🥳
You guys should react to Def Jam Vendetta next. There’s some exclusive Japanese rappers on the Japan PS2 version of Vendetta. Would be very interesting to see how you guys react to those moves 😁
We have it on our request list to check out in the future 😇
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Looking forward to it! I love watching y’all react to these kinda videos you both know how to appreciate the games, and give good input on whatever you guys enjoyed from it
WHOA!!! SERIOUSLY???
Fun fact: This game had a tournament competitive scene, and Sticky Fingaz is so strong that he's banned from every tournament. There's also the top tiers, like Crow (Snoop Dogg), Bubba Sparxxx, Carmen Electra, etc. who most of the time are also banned from tournamment play for being so strong (although, some tournaments do allow players to pick these and other banned characters, except for Sticky Fingaz)
Heard Carmen Elektra was a beast in this game 😀
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames
Yeah, she's great in this game. Oh, and Suspect is also a banned character, because all his stats are maxed out
Top 5 most savage rockit gaming rap battles
5:Six vs Bendy
4:Bendy vs Sans
3:Who's scarier(Bendy and the ink machine vs Baldi's Basics)
2:Freddy vs Bendy part 7
1:Freddy vs Bendy(I'm not just saying that because it was the very first Rockit gaming rap I ever heard but because of how savage it was I'm not gonna give any spoilers but you'll know why I said it was the most savage when you guys react to it)
I was in college back in 2005 and I would go over to my mates house and smoke a pound of weed and play this game all night. Good times.
Def Jam: Fight for NY is AWESOME, I used to play it a lot back on the XBox, many moons ago. I really hope they do a remaster of this game for the PC, it's a classic. My favourite Blazin' Move was Crazy legs, fast, stylish and to the point.
😎🤟
I said I would be here for def jam
So here I am
Greetings from the Netherlands

29:37 the Twist 'n' Slam move is almost similar to the Jackhammer made by WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg
Oh man I remember playing Def jam fight for New York on PlayStation 2 and it was the best fighting game ever
☺️😎🤟
I remember playing this when it came out & I had a blast with it!
😎🤟
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames fun fact too if it hasn't been said already, this came out with an ESRB rating of "T" for Teen. I think now it might get the "M" rating for the language 😂
Seeing this reminded me of when you two watched the For Honor executions for Tempest, and in a chain of events, seeing THAT reminded me that there are assassinations in Halo, which lead me to looking at executions for Gears of War.
Long story short, I have 2 suggestions:
-Halo 5 Assassinations.
-Gears of War 5 Executions.
Haha, thanks for sharing the chain of thought that brought you to the suggestions 😀🤗🥳
I'm looking forward to playing this now
😎🤟 heard it’s tough game to find

You should check, as I said in a previous comment, The Bourne's Conspiracy's takedowns
Have it on our request list to check out at some point 😇
Glad they had mama said knock you out. Feels appropriate 😁
Amazing Job on 110k!!
Thanks so much! 🥳🥳🍾🥂
Nice that they have Mamma said knock you out In this game. Thanks for answering our questions we had 🙂
Flava Flav was doing the drunken fist fighting style (it's where the fighter pretends to be drunk and fights in a drunk karate style)
Ah, thanks! 🙂
HOLY SMOKES!!!!!!!! that game takes me back, I feel old now sad fish
😂 👴 👵🏻 🤗
Another Fun Fact
Santos special move was Created by DMX on the 1st Def Jam game
I forgot how brutal this game was.
The bone crunching sounds were brutal 😯
A classic this game kept me up so many nights loved it and truly missed the story and characters
☺️😎🤟🥳
If anyone's interested, I interviewed the Def Jam: Fight for NY Voice Actor for the Main Character (Rough Voice) and the fighter Solo. You can find the interview on my channel, it's over an hour long and is super insightful into his involvement with the game. He talks about so much interesting stuff!

When ken said 🤨 @23:17 then “what are you doin” 🤣💀

I still play this game to this day.
😎🤟
5:10 by the way here's fun fact, the rapper Sticky Fingaz is one of my father's childhood friend.
Holy crap, small world 😀😎🤟
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames yep my father also has a childhood friend including LL Cool J, 50 Cent, & his childhood neighbors RUN DMC.
This game loves "Nut Shots" & folding people in half...LOL
