This is pure history and the stories behind these talented artists brings back fond memories of a time when music was alive and kicking in the Central Jersey area. The time machine has landed for sure!

I worked at the RKO Lincoln Theatre in the early 70s running film & spotlights. I saw a lot of artists perform from James Brown to the Stylistics.

Alexander Rabbit is an American band from Trenton. First called Galaxies IV and was a high school garage band. The group released several 45s. Won the Rock 'n' Roll Olympics in New Jersey (Phil Spector was on the jury). Then they had a great song in 1967 called Don't Lose Your Mind ( The Galaxies IV: Chris Holmes - guitar, organ, Alan Fowler - drums, Charles Brodowicz - Cordoxox and Len Demski - bass ) , which was garage rock with space rock sounds.
In the late 60s, vocalist Steve Shier appeared in the group and the group changed its name to Galaxie V, and then to Alexander Rabbit (this was Steve Shier's pseudonym). The rest of the team also dabbled in pseudonyms. Chris Holmes took the stage name Duke Williams, aka Duke Williams. In 1970, the group released their only album on the Mercury label. Recorded at Associated Recording Studio in New York.
