I would personally rank Peach’s cake the lowest. To me what’s most important in a board is having choice. I don’t want everything to be entirely dependent on my random dice rolls; the player needs to have a decent amount of input themselves. Boards with multiple pathways are my favourites since they allow you those opportunities to think about where you’re going to go and adds a lot more depth and overall fun to your experience. Peach’s birthday cake though? It’s just a loop. And the only shortcuts you can take require you to land on the one event space for the slide or what seed you pick with Goomba. How well you do is entirely based on luck; the only real ‘choice’ you get is planting a ‘strawberry’ and hoping a player lands on that space. Granted I haven’t played the board that much, but that’s because I didn’t enjoy it my first time. I also don’t like woody woods for similar reasons; it’s too easy for the board to entirely dictate where you go and how well you do with not enough opportunity for the player to choose themselves. I respect your opinions though, and as someone who didn’t get a chance to experience the original games growing up, this has been my first experience with all of these boards so I may just have no idea what I’m talking about haha. Good video!
Peach's birthday cake is sooo overrated, you turn around in circles, having absolutely no agency in where you go... I'd take yoshi's tropical island over this anytime
My only issues with horror land are how many lucky spaces are on the boards (20+) and how strong chomp call is for 7gp on that map. There is almost always one in play at any given time so it discourages anyone from approaching stars
@@jarredah Yeah, I was done with Horror Land because of the amount of Chomp Call that the COM players uses every single time I get close to the stars. Its so annoying
5. Peach's Birthday Cake Luck 4. Yoshi's Tropical Island Left has a shop with gold pipe and custom dice, don't go to the right 3. Space Land Everyone rolls the event space at the start, 1 shop for triple dice. 2. Horror Land Woody Woods with boos and more chomp call. 1. Woody Woods Use a mushroom or triple dice, custom dice to switch left to right, plunder chests for gold pipes.
You should rank all minigames. Sure, it'll take a while but I really liked this video and it got some views. Very nice video, you definitely earn my sub!
Peach’s birthday cake is underrated. In my opinion it’s a good board. It’s really fun and cute and one of the most prettiest boards ever. All the sweets around looks so cool. Gorgeous and fun board. And the music is cute and catchy
Although I've never played a mario party before 8, I think it would've been good to include more boards from later games. After all, the game is about celebrating mario parties from New and old. If I'd have to name specific examples, it would be Boo's haunted hallways and Koopa's tycoon town. They both have really great gimmicks and are really fun to play on. (again I've only played on mario party 8 9 10 and super boards, though boards from before that would be great)
Koopa's Tycoon Town from Mario Party 8 would have been a really cool addition! I think it's really an underrated board in general too. Hopefully, we get some boards from other Mario Party games if there is some eventual DLC.
Although I love the board selections in this game, I think if there were a few more selections I would've picked: Mario's Rainbow Castle MP1 (I love how simple the board shows and uses risk vs reward) Western Land MP2 (It's just a really solid board) Spiny Desert MP3 (Ik that is two Desert stages, but I think the other MP2 stage I would pick which is Pirate Land, already plays too similarly to Yoshi's Tropical Island)
At first I wasn't sold on "Peach's Birthday Cake" being the runner-up, but after hearing about the big changes they made to it, I can definitely see why it's so high up. If they ever make more boards for DLC, maybe they could see about fixing up some other boards that have bad or frustrating mechanics.
havent got the game yet but long time mario party 1+2 fan, I loved space land, so im happy to see it. I think I would have liked to see western land from mp2, and then also Bowser land from mp2. I wish they could have thrown in a couple more maps into this game, at least like 2.
Western Land is the other board from Mario Party 2 I would've loved to see make a return as well and I think Bowser Land is such an underrated board! Hopefully, we'll get some DLC in the future with some more boards!
Dude, your videos are great! Just one thing, make the audio more loud. I have my volume high trying to be able to hear your videos. Great videos though!
My opinion: 1. Peach’s Birthday Cake 2. Space Land 3. Horror Land 4. Woody Woods 5. Yoshi’s Tropical Island I wish Koopa’s Tycoon Town from Mario Party 8 was on here. MP8 was the first Mario Party I ever played and KTT was my favorite stage on there, so it would’ve brought back some great memories. (Also, I know minigames have nothing to do with this video, but I wish they brought back a few more/better minigames from MP8 🤷🏻♂️)
Personally, my rankings are: #5: Peach's Birthday Cake. This board is almost entirely centered on luck. Your only choices on the board are what "strawberries" you plant should you land on one or what you buy from the shop. Otherwise, it's just hoping your dice rolls and encounters from Goomba end up in your favor. In addition, since there's no Boo spaces and a star-stealing "strawberry" only cost 30 coins, players with surplus coins are left with little to do but buy Golden Pipes from the shop, which are an extremely easy and boring way to win since the shop is right after the star, allowing you to avoid Goomba and other players' traps altogether. #4: Woody Woods. Like the video states, the board is quite luck based by design... until you realize that there are two shops that both offer Golden Pipes very early on. Every time I play on this board, the victor usually belongs to the player who grabs the most of those rather than the one trying their hardest to grab stars legitimately. #3: Yoshi's Tropical Island. Agreed with most of what is said in the video, though one crucial detail was left out: the difference between the islands. The left one contains the shop, which houses powerhouses such as the Warp Block, Custom Dice Block, and the Golden Pipe. Each of these can be used as safeguards to jump to the other island or switch the star placement when used properly to make the board more strategy based. Alternatively, the second is a great space to retire to once you're in the lead in both coins and stars. Just raise the Thwomp toll a large amount so that nobody else can pass and then use the Boo space to further your lead. It's the dynamic between these islands that make this board more interesting than #4 and #5. #2: Space Land. The extreme freedom that this board allows for is what makes this board a lot of fun. Choosing what path to take, be it the shortest path to the star, the path to the shop, or going on a route to land on a good space, there is so many opportunities to make different strategies and plays that make this board very replayable. #1: Horror Land. Like Space Land, there is a lot of space to move around and implement different strategies for. However, it beats it because of just how many ways there are to mess with your opponents using Boos, Whomps, and the Day/Night cycle. Even better, the music that plays for the last 5 turns is an absolute BANGER for this board. There can be no doubt that this is the most replayable and fun board.
For me, my list is the same but with space land and peach’s birthday cake switched, I really want DLC to come with some more boards like Luigi’s Engine Room, Western Land and Creepy Cavern
My Ranking: 5)Yoshi’s Tropical Island (6.5/10) While I do think the gimmick of the star and Bowser switching is really neat, since it is based only on happening spaces it is way too random for my taste and that largely ruins the board for me. The toll system is really cool however and the animation that plays when the star and Bowser switch is priceless😂. 4)Peach’s Birthday Cake (7/10) Out of all boards, this is easily the most improved compared to the original. That being said I am not very crazy about this board as in my opinion it tries to do too much at once. The luck based intersection that can send you to Bowser or send you around the cake again is vastly improved over the original but I still dislike it though I don’t hate it anymore. I do like how the happening spaces work but in general this feels like a star stealing board where you have to buy stars and where it’s random where you will have to travel based on how lucky you are which while very interesting is just not something I really like. I much prefer a star stealing board like Snowflake Lake from Mario Party 6 where all players start with stars. 3)Woody Woods (8/10) This board’s gimmick can be annoying but honestly I kind of enjoy how crazy it can be. I do think it should be easier to correct movement in the top half of the board if you get unlucky and do also wish that the direction switched only every other turn instead of every turn but overall I like this gimmick more than most people but still only find it okay. The rest of the board really doesn’t have much to comment on either other than I love how the signs can get out of sync as that adds some potential strategy. 2)Space Land (9.5/10) This board was awesome in its original form and still is here. I love the counter in the center, especially since you can lower it pretty fast if you wish to by looping around near the bottom skeleton key door, and how when the counter hits 0 a massive laser destroys all coins in the line of fire. It’s also very fitting Bowser of all characters does this LOL. I also really enjoy the happening spaces on this board although I do believe that it can be annoying if the happening spaces are landed on too much as at that point it can feel near impossible to make progress which is my only real issue on this board though I wouldn’t say it’s a common issue. 1)Horror Land (10/10) The original version of this board is my 3rd favorite board of all time and this is about as good as the original in my opinion. I really don’t have any complaints with this board. The day and night gimmick is my favorite gimmick ever in Mario Party history and considering Mario Party 6, which uses a modified version of it on every board, is my favorite Mario Party game of all time, I would say it’s really good and unique. I do love how it’s every other turn and not every turn and also love how players can influence it in various ways. Also there are several boos on the board but only certain ones are ever available at once and one of those is King Boo who you can only access at night and requires a skeleton key to access (or a very lucky and very mean warp block I suppose with a very unlucky opponent who will probably unfriend you after doing such a cruel action🤣) who can steal coins from every other player for free or a star from every other player for 150 coins. This board is amazing and I absolutely love it!!! Good ranking video btw. You deserve more subs!:D
