Mario party 8 got screwed over in this game. not only did it only get 2 minigames, but they didn't even choose 2 very good ones! They could of chosen: · Mosh-Pit Playroom · Mario Matrix · Lava or Leave 'Em · Sick and Twisted · In the Nick of Time · Alpine Assult · Trecherous Tightrope · Grabby Gridiron · King of the Thrill · Boo-ting Gallary · Crops 'n' Robbers · Gun the Runner · Grabbin' Gold · Power Trip · Bob-ombs Away · Thrash 'n' Crash · Chump Rope · Aim of the Game · Glacial Meltdown · Lob to Rob · Loco Motives · Frozen Assets · Breakneck Building · Balancing Act · Cardiators · and Rotation Station Every single one of these minigames were, and still are, extremely fun to play! But instead they chose one that doesn't even matter until the last 5 seconds and other that literally just depends on if the coins land near you or not -_-* And no, obviously I would never expect every single on of these minigames to make it in, but a few would have been super nice!
I find it so weird that games like Money Belts were balanced so that the 1 gets fewer coins, but games like River Raiders are incredibly unbalanced. I've seen times where the 3 get absolutely nothing, because the layout simply doesn't allow it.
you’re super right about River Raiders. One lucky time me and my friends were playing, and one of them were gonna get to king boo to steal all 3 of our stars. I wanted to do the same to them, but I didn’t have enough coins. But luckily it was a X2 Minigame, I was the one, and River Raiders got selected. I don’t know how, but I got 28 coins, giving me 56 IN TOTAL while the 3 only got 5 which gave them 10. It was such a turning point and gives why sometimes bad minigames can help benefit.
You forgot to mention that Bumper Balls has different stages and each one changes the way you play. The lava stage has a normal terrain, an island stage that has bumpy terrain, and an glacial stage that has ice terrain.
I was so happy when you put Booksquirm in first, I honestly thought I would cry a bit. I never had any consoles until the switch, so my only mario party experience was playing it at my babysitter's house nearly 15 years ago. That was one minigame I remembered from there, and still my favourite now. I didn't know anyone else would put it so highly, when I got to #2 I thought I may have missed it.
Majority of these minigames are amazing. My only gripe is that there are only Mario Party 8 minigames, one of which is a coin minigame and there are no Mario Party DS games. I understand that a lot of the minigames could only be done with the Wii's or DS' functions, but there were still some good ones. From Mario Party DS, camera shy, domino effect, trash landing, boo tag, memory mash, cube crushers just as some examples could've been implemented in.
I agree, it would have been cool to see some more Mario Party 8 minigames. Maybe if they made a minigame package that was like specific for the joy cons in a free play minigame mode or something, then there could have been more MP8 minigames since so many use some form of motion controls, but I understand that they didn't want to completely disregard all the pro controller players again like in Super Mario Party lol.
Mario party 8 was robbed in this game. Only 2 minigames? Not great ones either. Winner or dinner is super boring, not even mentioning the fact that its a coin minigame. Paint misbehaving is fun in its own way, but still only decent.
Nice list! First the boards, now the mini games. Glad I can appreciate this game even more now that I recognize what it has. I don’t regret getting it this month!
Man I’m bummed running of the bulb from Mario party isn’t in this game. That was always my favorite cause everybody had to work together to win for a change
It's fantastic seeing everyone give their own opinions on the minigames here. Although I hate shy guy says (even thinking about it makes me stressed. I like the idea, but actually playing it is enough to give me a heart attack.) I also think Booksquirm is a bit overrated but still fun. What I genuinely dislike is the fact that only 2 minigames are from mario party 8 and one of them is a coin minigame (my least favorite type of minigame.) Paint misbehaving is only decent. (Mario Party 8 is my favorite mario party.)
Tug o War doesn't feel the same as it did in the Original game. Even with the rotating stick on tug o war it feels a lot more easier. I also feel like people bash on coin minigame a little to harsh. Coin minigames have always been a staple in Mario Party since the very beginning. My favorite coin minigames are Hammer Drop, Xray payday and even Castaway. Money belts is alright but it so unfair when you play that minigame with a cpu Master difficulty because it can predict every coin before it comes out for that one cpu player. You know you can literally cheat on both Roll Call and Messey Memory right, you can just easily take a picture of them with a phone just before the game even begins. My only complaint about Face Lift is its not in the 4 player minigame rotation, its only restricted to as a Bowser Minigame, and the only other way can play face lift is in free play on Mt. Minigame. There various of minigame in Superstars that are missing variation of the minigames like MP2 Shy guy says, or MP2 face lift version with different characters, or MP2 version of Bombs away. Like slot cart derby, crazy cutters, Dungeon dash, tred carefully and bumper balls all have different variations. Like Crazy Cutter has Boo from MP1, Chain chomp and blooper from MP2 while Crazy cutter uses MP2 version were it just the one player that wins it. Kind of a shame they also didn't bring back the Goomba and Hot Bob-omb from MP1 Crazy Cutters.
I have mixed thoughts on coin minigames. When I'm playing on a board, they're enjoyable because you are getting rewarded with more coins than a normal minigame (usally). On the other hand, they don't usally feel fun enough to want to go and play at Mt. Minigames. I agree with everything else though.
For a small channel you did an amazing job for example you had a great thumbnail, good use of music, nice visuals and even a decent mic, this video just proves that anyone can make a great video 👍 10/10
I don't get why everyone says they wish you could push players in Coney Island. That's the best part - not being able to push people actually makes it a skill-based game because it makes you have to react quickly enough and, if someone gets to the spot you wanted before you, having a feasible backup plan. The fact that you can't push people is the best part IMO. It's so rage-inducing when you're pushed out of the way in Booksquirm and that's part of why I don't quite enjoy that one as much as most people seem to.
Hey! I haven’t watched this but I’m dropping a sub, like, and comment! I can see the effort! You definitely deserve more subs! Keep up the good work, you’ll make it to the top
Thank God, I thought I was the only one who didn't like Stick and Spin lol. I mean it's a fun puzzle idea but it just takes waaaaaay too long. The one time I played it online as a duel I swear it felt like it took half an hour just to get through it (thankfully I did at least win though haha). I don't hate it overall, but definitely prefer the other sports and puzzles over it by a longshot.
Piranha's Pursuit is probably my #100 as it's always a free win for the solo player if they don't mess up (which is even easier than it sounds unless they're a CPU who's programmed to mess up here and there lol). It's so awful to be on the team of three in that. It's beyond unbalanced, since it takes a totally incompetent solo player to not win it lol. As much as I think the overall minigame selection is great (aside from the fact that MP8 was so grossly underrepresented), I'll never understand why that or Sneak n Snore or Tug o' War were included.
I actually like the rotating mini games because they aren't about speed they're about rhythm. There's a speed cap on how fast you can rotate for them to register it.
i’m going to have to disagree with you on putting volleyball at #95🥴you haven’t lived until you played 2V2 mario party volleyball with your friends, it’s surprisingly chaotic and fun when you get good at it😂
Ice Hockey was wayyyyy funnier in Mario Party 5. I used to "power shot" the opposing team, and they used to make sounds of dismay!!! 🤣 I am actually disappointed in a lot of the little elements they removed from some of the minigames. Squared Away used to have Thwomps chasing after the losing team. It was far more entertaining than watching the losing team "☹️" because they lost. Also, while I understand "vine skipping" would be functionally challenging to implement with the modernization, it added to the skill of winning Vine With Me in Mario Party 3.
I was thinking of doing a video like this but just haven’t played the game for long enough. Moreover, I can tell you put a lot of effort into this both editing and scripting
I think coin minigames in this game gives you way too many coins so by the end of a 30 turn game will have each player with way too many coins and star steals are way too often
Honestly when I play online I see the solo player win more often than not in Spotlight Swim...I don't get why everyone finds it so unbalanced against the solo player lol. It's just a matter of knowing how to fake out your rivals and keep changing your direction while diving underwater. Archer-ival is infinitely more unbalanced (in favour of the solo player that is).
same with Tube It or Lose It, you just have to know when to brake when you're on the team of three and deke out your opponent. I honestly think that minigame is also pretty balanced
