Dude it’s freaky asf at night we went in and couldn’t get out we had to Find a different exit in the dark since our flashlights kept going out… scary man
Amazing architectural designs that hid the horrors of the Psychiatric Hospitals. Far too many of them were over capacity, underfunded, and understaffed.
Cool looking hospital considering it's trash. Creepy knowing what it's patients experienced it they had ice cold baths or electro, therapy. This would have been beautiful but functional in its era. Thank you for showing us hidden places. Stay safe.
just to give a little bit of an update on whats going on at the Psych Center property, as of November/2019,,,,the new owners have started demolition on several buildings, for those that may have explored them at one time, Ryon Hall and the Recreation center, are now gone,! Ryon Hall was demolished roughly about 2 weeks ago the main campus is supposed to be saved to be redeveloped into residential and business space, also the residence housing that faces Route 9 is supposed to be saved,, i think i heard that the next building to get the wrecking ball is supposed to be the old power plant
Power plant can't be demolished for a while because it's a huge environmental issue. Cheney is next. Supers home is to be saved. Most of upper campus will not be saved.
These buildings were filmed in Poughkeepsie just north of the Home Depot plaza across from Marist College. The Psych Center in Wingdale (across from the train station) is still there and was renovated a few years or so ago. I believe it’s part of a college or university now.
Excellent video my team just recently went there and you've covered a lot there place is being demolished as I write this and I will be subscribing again awesome thanks. Hermicidal J ( xplorer llttf)
Went recently, was stopped by security, any advice on where to enter? Not at all interested in loitering, but I would love to take photos of the chapel before it is remodeled.
@@kylemirkovic1497 which way did you go ? There are demolishing most of the place but preserving a few that chapel top we were on and your correct its being remodeled you may have problems during the day pick a weekend day the security usually sits near that building because of the materials on site .a little bird told me go down paint shop rd straight into the backyard of this place, past 2 gates and your in
@@kylemirkovic1497 little birdie says paint shop rd park at the convenience store across from it in the far right corner your allowed to park there as.long as your out before 24 hours..and depends on the shot you want and equipment that way leads you into the back good luck
Was that a Jewish facility? I saw Hebrew literature,a menorah and a prayer shawl in this video ( awesomely made by the way) new sub from Dark Exploration 👍🏻👍🏻
No, it was a state psychiatric center. I worked there as the Med/Surg secretary for those 2 wards (the medical ward & the surgical ward) forva time. A lot of geriatric patients in those wards - for many of them, that was their last residence before they passed away. I wasn’t impressed with the doctors or the nursing staff. I thought they could show a lot more kindness to the patients, many of which rarely saw their families. Sad.
Little known fact about this place located in Orange county NY Middletown , designed by the man who designed central park. That smoke stack was used to rid of many body's.
Very cool footage. A little bit of interaction with your audience may not hurt. Talk a bit while you are filming versus only music playing over your clips. :)
VERY COOL 👍
Be careful, don't risk yourself too much, that broken floor could fall down anytime.. 😓
Just walk against the walls and they're fine.
this video is amazing, underated channel
Very sad - I worked there for a couple of years :(
Totally epic that would be legit creepy at night
It is...
@@djdeff1 Not really

I remember going here as a kid and the cops got on their megaphone that we was trespassing and we ran and barely got away...good times man
The cops there couldnt catch a cold.

Is the Rec Center still there, or demolished? Plus, how big was it?
It’s destroyed now, if you care

Except it’s in Poughkeepsie NY. Been here too many times
It's in Poughkeepsie, NY. Right after Marist College and right before the Culinary institute.
Too bad they demolished it! Very sad😭
It would have been sadder to leave it crumble.
Also, molds and fungi can be harmful to "visitors'" health.

Really nice location, its only a shame that the original Kirkbride administration building has burned out recently
I know how it burned down.
