Respectfully, -satisfying fans “perceived expectations” is not the responsibility of the storyteller. Just because “fans” created their own narratives in their head doesn’t mean the director has to fulfill them. Too often “fans” think THEY control what the story is or where it should go - when actually they should come in with a blank slate. Let the story develop and play out and then make a judgement at the end. It’s not the director’s fault you came in expecting The Matrix because you saw Carrie Ann Moss in the trailers. . Many Star Wars “fans” simply need to get over themselves. As the Jedi say…”Learn to LET GO….”
