I found your channel just today and I am literally OBSESSED by your recipes 😁I think your ideas are brilliant!I am Greek and love the fact many of your recipes or ideas are Greek inspired😍😍😍 lots of love from Germany!!!!
Actually the lettuce thing is: during the 16thcentury you weren't suppose to use a knife with your lettuce because the vinegar (dressing) made the silver rusty and knives were made from silver at the time. So this is why you are not suppose to chop it, just a tradition. (I hope I'm understandable lol)
The knife is what makes the lettuce wilt. Studies have even been done to test this. Cut lettuce with a knife lasted 1 day less than lettuce cut with a lettuce knife (plastic) and 8 days less than ripped lettuce.
When you rip lettuce, you are tearing along the 'seams' of the cells, so you aren't breaking into the cells. Cutting rips into the cells, causing browning and wilting.
I'm hooked! Thanks for your healthy recipes, making things very easy and saying what can be substitutes in or out of the recipes. You're awesome! Much success!
I love that you put everything in mason jars as a student this is so perfect for me because I hate taking big Tupperware makes my bag pack so heavy plus everything looks so yummy & pretty
I just wish I could find jars like those you have here in Sweden. I loooove the idea to make things in jars because you can keep them in the fridge, take them to work easily and I just don't like the idea of using plastic around my food. Love your recipies, I got hooked after the first one I was. Great job on making yummy foods that are healthy and easy.
yum yum gimme some!!!! definitely wanna try these except no where to go!!!! they look really healthy which is great in my case. pending craniotomy in the middle of the month and these will be great especially that Asian inspired one!!!!
this is a great idea for my kid's school lunches. I would probably use the same ideas and make them in a smaller jar for them. thanks for this video. It will make lunches a little more fun for them as they would have to shake it first and then eat it. only problem now that I'm thinking of it is that the jars are glass. will need to find some plastic containers. lol
You know sometimes I think, "why does my favorite kitchen pixie call herself a GEEK?" Then you say something like "OLIVE THE FLAVOR" and I am reminded....cus you're bleeping AWESOME,😆!
I made the o/nite oatmeal for the first time with almond milk no yogurt, frozen berriesand mango. it was wonderful. Next time I plan to add no/fat Kefir instead of yog. Now I can't wait to make a bottled salad. However I will "ALWAYS" leave room at the top for dark leafy greens.
Wow these look so delicious! I don't really like salads very much (which has made dieting rather difficult in the past), but I sure do like pasta lol. I'll definitely have to give these a try, especially that first one!
These look so bomb I'm going to make these for my daughters lunches this year! The next time you make it could you maybe show how you would eat it from the mason jar? I mean with all of the dressing at the bottom and it being so full would shaking it really get everything combined?
Yes, it would as long as you leave some room at the top of the jar, it should be fine. Maybe before packing it into the lunch box try to shake it a little bit to see if it'll work and adjust how much you put into the jar as you get comfortable w it.
you can do that too and that's probably what i would do just bc its easier , but this style is supposed to be for presentation and so the ramen noodles in one of the recipes dont get soggy bc of the dressing
I usually turn my jars upside down for a few minutes before I'm ready to eat so that the dressing/oil/whatever at the bottom can run down and coat the rest of my salad.
I have always heard that it is the metal in the knife that turns the lettuce brown. If you use a plastic knife, or maybe ceramic, it helps to prevent that.
I really must thank you for mentioning the tuna thing!! I usually happen to be a total anti- tuna consumption person and freak out when people use it, but i guess sustainable is okay:) like I said, thanks for making people aware of the tuna problem once again. interestingly practical ideas/recipes though! keep up!:)
I don't mean to come off as "that person" but to be honest the best way to insure a fish population's natural growth is to leave it out of your diet completely. Sustainably caught fish still cause a whole list of issues on the ocean's environment and can't often be regulated at a single definition.
+Huntress Artemis thats ABSOLUTELY my opinion.!! since i was like seven i used to ask my parent why humanity just can pause eating tuna for like two years or so! i absolutely exclude tuna (and palm oil etc.)out of my diet and also encourage my friends to stop their consumption! but i still think sustainable tuna, even if sustainable is a pretty relative term, could be if real better than the normal one and many chefs just use it on mass and dont say anything about it. I'm just glad sara lynn saud SOMEthing. but yes, actually tuna is something to avoid and leave for a time. :)
Ah! I'm so glad you agree :D I constantly worry about the condition of the ocean and it's something that any person should worry about :( that's one of the main reasons I stopped eating fish of any kind because they're so important to our planet (not just the ocean!)
Great ideas as always! Also could you do a video about your favourite homemade dressings? Because store bought ones always have a lot of unnecessary additives.
Hi Tereza, of course! I actually have two videos featuring some of my favourite homemade dressings. You can check them out here: ruclips.net/video/P2TMMFGXflQ/видео.html ruclips.net/video/cjlv95oTREU/видео.html
Can you tell me where you got the white funnel that you have on top of the jars please. I want to make these and you make it look so easy with that to help you get everything in without the mess
great recipes!😍 I have only one question: isn't it better to put the light things on the top of the heavier ones? because the lettuce is so light and full of water, doesn't it become squishy when you put it between the pasta and the meat? Otherwise I'll make them for university, thank you 💕
i love how much you love greek cuisine. i am from greece and every now and then i see in your videos a lot of greek ideas.

I didn't know that ! I always heard my version (I'm french) but maybe both are true ! :)
When you rip lettuce, you are tearing along the 'seams' of the cells, so you aren't breaking into the cells. Cutting rips into the cells, causing browning and wilting.
Awwwww come on now.

you can chop the lettuce with a plastic knife. contact. with the steel from the knife is what causes the lettuce to wilt quicker. Great video!

+Rayna S y dont we just mix it and then put it in a jar
you can do that too and that's probably what i would do just bc its easier , but this style is supposed to be for presentation and so the ramen noodles in one of the recipes dont get soggy bc of the dressing
typically I take a container/ or bowl in my lunch kit and dump my salad in it
I usually turn my jars upside down for a few minutes before I'm ready to eat so that the dressing/oil/whatever at the bottom can run down and coat the rest of my salad.
Oh these look so delicious ! I am definitely going to try them ! Thank you!!
