So what keeps the heat pump and fuel from running together? If you turn that stat up more than 4 degrees it brings on the Aux heat also?

Tad, what dual fuel thermostat do you recommend? My contractor installed a Sensi Smart (model 1F87U-42WF). That thermostat has no lockout based on outside temperature, so the heat pump always runs when heat is called for. I am thinking of a Sensi Touch 2 or Ecobee smart. These two thermostats use the outside temperature from the WIFI rather than a temperature sensor.

I have the Goodman dual fuel unit. Heat pump and two stage gas burner. Selecting 255 heat pump will only let me select one auxiliary home 221 and not 2 stage heating? Two stage heating is only allowed for conventional systems. This is TH6320WF2003 thermostat. Thanks for your videos and help, they’re great.

Trane due fuel furnace with American Standard Heatpump. T6. Wired like I always do. Heatpump stayed in circuit when I asked for higher demand. ODT was mid 40s. All should be good?

@@harrygilbert4593 I just put an ICP heat pump on an existing Trane Propane furnace with a Trane thermostat. Found out on the first cold day it won’t cycle to aux mode. Connected the white wire on the stat and now it won’t shut down the OD unit while in aux mode. Which brings me to this vid. Looking at a T6 to replace the Trane stat. But will it shut down the OD unit by removing power from the Y terminal in AUX mode?

If you drive the temp up on the Tstat with Dual Fuel . Is it supposed to lock out the heat pump and go straight to gas? Working with a T-9 TH6220WF2006. I appreciate your content.

355 compressor lockout / balance point is the temperature set point at which if outdoor air is below that set point the compressor is locked out and only backup gas heat can be used. 356 outdoor lockout backup heat is the temperature set point at which if outdoor air is above that set point the backup heat is locked out and only HP heat can be used.

that's a very loose use of the term "Heat Pump balance point" Heat Pump Balance point is when the heat pump capacity equals the heat loss of the structure. Calculated using AHRI performance data and Manual J form.
