Adagio was the 6th performance of The Singer competition in China in 2017. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time. Aagio is a really beautiful song❤️. A song that Lara Fabian has already sung and also written the lyrics for. Dimash has always been a great admirer of Lara. But Dimash takes this song to another level. Every time, I see this performance I forget to breathe. The emotions that Dimash sends out with this performance literally hit me physically every time🤯. And you can see that I’m not the only one. This is so emotional because he literally sang for survival as he was almost voted out on the last episode on Uptown Funk. That's why he had to give everything at Adagio. I love his outfit with his blue suit and white shoes. If you watch several videos of him, you will see that he often falls on his knees during many of his performances. So a Dear gave him knee pads as a gift. I don’t think he wore them on stage though. Although he has certainly gotten one or two bruises😂. What I love about the Chinese competitors is that they don’t behave like competitors. Everyone wishes everyone luck. Everyone watches the other’s performance. Clap, sing along. In my opinion, no one begrudges the success of another. They might not have taken Dimash seriously at first, but that quickly changed after SOS. Through ist honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Contacts that still exist today. Especially to Terry Lin. That’s the guy with the glasses. Just for fun, Terry adopted Dimash and Dimash named him Papa Lin. Do not be fooled. Terry is older than he looks. He was 50 years old then. They performed together on stage and sang Dimash’s song Unforgettable Day together. They visit each other when they can and send each other birthday greetings. He lost his voice the night before his performance of Daybreak. I heard him say in an interview that it was very painful throughout the song, that his throat feels like shredded glass but he didn’t want to disappoint the people who stand behind him and so he pulled himself together and went on stage. He got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital. And the doctor told him not to sing high notes. You can see how concerned the other competitors were and they suffered with him. They knew he was not doing well and one of them even gave him a very expensive Chinese medicine from his own inventory. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover. After the performance he lost his voice again. It’s unbelievable how he always manages to convey emotions to such a degree. Though I think in this one particular version the emotions he shows are mostly concern about his voice keeping up with the song and the pain he must have been in doing it. So this is how I heard the story went. Dimash became super famous during this competition. After he performed S.O.S., the next day he had security guarding him. He reacted by saying that he didn't need protection and was told that he certainly did because people were going crazy over him. Dimash got 2nd place in this competition because only a Chinese competitor was eligible to win. This event brought him fame and he's been getting more and more famous due to all his work. It was a singing competition in China. His 1st appearance was as an unknown performing SOS (A superior version to the one you watched IMO) and he was the first act on the show with it. By the time this song was done everyone in China knew him.

I’ve been listening to Dimash for more than 3 years and I think you’re ready to hear a masterpiece! Story of one sky - the music was composed by Dimash himself and worked on it for about 3 years. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner and a wild card. As we know Dimash smashed it. Dimash came second and not to take anything away from the winner the rules of the competition where that only Chinese competitors could win in 2017. The rules were changed in 2018 and Jessie J won and Dimash was a guest singer. It’s also notable that Dimash didn’t speak Chinese nor did he speak English. His interpreter was with him the whole time. Of course he now speaks some Mandarin Chinese and English and he is becoming more fluent every day. He learnt the songs in this competition phonetically after learning the history of the song. Every concert regardless of the country, so far anyway, Dimash has done or learnt a song, usually a folk song, of that country which we fans are grateful and totally amazed by. He is definitely, in our opinion, a very humble amazing human being. There is so much more to this man than his voice and we are astounded by his amazing hard work and talent. ♥️❤️💕🕊🇦🇺🏴

Hello dear, in all the competitions that Dimash participated in he won, only in China he came in 2nd because no one there could come in first place, except the Chinese, but he exploded on the 1st day of presentation with SOS and became an idol .
I love this version the best I have heard. I think when Dimash takes on a song, he is able to phrase the words in such a way that we can all GET what the song is saying. So we are not just listening to words or the music but to the story and intention of the lyracist.

Watch Dimash slay "The Show Must Go On" ...and as a non-English speaker... he's singing it by learning and memorizing the English words phonetically; the sound of each syllable, not the understanding of the word...if you know what I mean? I think they were running the "words" on some kind of tele-prompter that he could see while performing the song...and I'm assuming here...for the first time live before an audience. He is such a showman, so naturally dynamic with such charisma, talent and charm that he can pull off nearly impossible feats, virtually unrehearsed and appearing so at ease... he's like the preformers of early Hollywood, the live TV variety show singers, actors, dancers like Bing Crosby, Sammy Davis Jr. Fred Astaire and comedic actors like Red Skelton & Bob Hope. (yeah that dates me, and infact today is my 60th Birthday, so I've seen 55 years of the best of the best) Dimash is the best for me, ever. He lives in my heart and I in his... it's weird but true

You are right about nkt listening to Dimash in a truck etc. I am not even sure if it would cut across the same even on a download or radio. The thing is the live performance that just pulls you in and once there, you stay abd await to see what is next. He can hold a whole audience of thousands in an almost spell like atmosphere by being very dramatic or by a single gentle hand movement in time to the music he is performing. I really really do not like operatic music but I listen to him singing Olympico often and I just never tire of it because the tone of his voice makes the opera somehow not opera. He does Queen with super vocal boys, he does film theme with across endless dimensions, jeez he did a version of power rangers. Every genre all amazing.
The 500 members of the audience were the judges for all of the 14 weeks of the competition! And the only reason he ended up with 2nd place at the end was that the rules did NOT allow a non Chinese competitor to get first place. This isn't your average competition like AGT or Idol. It's a 12 week competition between established artists who already have solid careers behind them. Dimash was a wildcard brought in from a foreign country and the youngest participant in the history of the show.

After seeing this performance for the first time, all I could think was " holy cow, put Dimash on the American Music Awards ( and let him be the first to perform) so I could see who out of the American artists would have the guts to come on after Dimash !

This was a Chinese reality show called I Am Singer, incorporating a friendly singing competition. Dimash was, as a foreigner, invited as a wildcard. NOBODY knew who he was. He was totally unknown in China and the world, but as soon as the first round aired on Chinese TV Dimash, got his first shock. 600 thousand hits on his social media account, and hoards of screaming fans. He was also given bodyguards whenever he went outside. His life changed, and this 22 year old, unknown boy from Kazakhstan, was a star. Then his performances were put on RUclips and he became a phenomenon. Now a world reknowned musician and vocalist, he is so highly regarded that people such as David Foster amonst others want to work with him, and he has performed with other world reknowned stars, like Lara Fabian, Aida Garifullina, Andrea Bocceli, and many more. So here you see his rise to fame, from well-known, professional artist in Kazakhstan, Central Asia, and Belarus. To superstar in China, then, the rest of the world. Dimash has fanclubs in most countries of the world. In professional music circles, he is well known and respected as probably the greatest vocalist on this planet. There are many who want to work with him, but he refuses to get tied up in contracts. He needs artistic freedom, so he is very careful. Dimash has his own team, he has musicians that work with him in his concerts, dancers, and technicians. He has his own creative studio and releases his own music which he does the production on. He puts out incredible music videos and ge gas his Dears who promote him at every opportunity with some amazing ways to advertise him, his work, and his concerts. Next for him now, a huge concert in Hong Kong on 23rd December, tickets will be on sale shortly. It's part of his Stranger tour, each concerts had had huge surprises so as this is his 7th Anniversary in Chuna concert, I am expecting quite a few surprises and maybe a few guests too. It was a singing competition in China. His 1st appearance was as an unknown performing SOS (A superior version to the one you watched IMO) and he was the first act on the show with it. By the time this song was done everyone in China knew him.
My fave version of SOS is the one he reacted to but they are all amazing because Dimash is amazing. 😉

The Singer competition was for professional singers only with great careers already. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner and a wild card. As we know Dimash smashed it. Dimash came second and not to take anything away from the winner the rules of the competition where that only Chinese competitors could win in 2017. The rules were changed in 2018 and Jessie J won and Dimash was a guest singer.
It’s also notable that Dimash didn’t speak Chinese nor did he speak English. His interpreter was with him the whole time. Of course he now speaks some Mandarin Chinese and English and he is becoming more fluent every day. He learnt the songs in this competition phonetically after learning the history of the song.
Every concert regardless of the country, so far anyway, Dimash has done or learnt a song, usually a folk song, of that country which we fans are grateful and totally amazed by. He is definitely, in our opinion, a very humble amazing human being. There is so much more to this man than his voice and we are astounded by his amazing hard work and talent. ♥️❤️💕🕊🇦🇺🏴

Hello dear, in all the competitions that Dimash participated in he won, only in China he came in 2nd because no one there could come in first place, except the Chinese, but he exploded on the 1st day of presentation with SOS and became an idol .
I love this version the best I have heard. I think when Dimash takes on a song, he is able to phrase the words in such a way that we can all GET what the song is saying. So we are not just listening to words or the music but to the story and intention of the lyracist.

Watch Dimash slay "The Show Must Go On" ...and as a non-English speaker... he's singing it by learning and memorizing the English words phonetically; the sound of each syllable, not the understanding of the word...if you know what I mean? I think they were running the "words" on some kind of tele-prompter that he could see while performing the song...and I'm assuming here...for the first time live before an audience. He is such a showman, so naturally dynamic with such charisma, talent and charm that he can pull off nearly impossible feats, virtually unrehearsed and appearing so at ease... he's like the preformers of early Hollywood, the live TV variety show singers, actors, dancers like Bing Crosby, Sammy Davis Jr. Fred Astaire and comedic actors like Red Skelton & Bob Hope. (yeah that dates me, and infact today is my 60th Birthday, so I've seen 55 years of the best of the best)

You are right about nkt listening to Dimash in a truck etc. I am not even sure if it would cut across the same even on a download or radio. The thing is the live performance that just pulls you in and once there, you stay abd await to see what is next. He can hold a whole audience of thousands in an almost spell like atmosphere by being very dramatic or by a single gentle hand movement in time to the music he is performing. I really really do not like operatic music but I listen to him singing Olympico often and I just never tire of it because the tone of his voice makes the opera somehow not opera. He does Queen with super vocal boys, he does film theme with across endless dimensions, jeez he did a version of power rangers. Every genre all amazing.

The 500 members of the audience were the judges for all of the 14 weeks of the competition! And the only reason he ended up with 2nd place at the end was that the rules did NOT allow a non Chinese competitor to get first place.
