So this is how I heard the story went. Dimash became super famous during this competition. After he performed S.O.S., the next day he had security guarding him. He got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital. And the doctor told him not to sing high notes. You can see how concerned the other competitors were and they suffered with him. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover. After the performance he lost his voice again. It’s unbelievable how he always manages to convey emotions to such a degree. This isn't your average competition like AGT or Idol. It's a 12 week competition between established artists who already have solid careers behind them. Dimash was a wildcard brought in from a foreign country and the youngest participant in the history of the show.
The 500 members of the audience were the judges for all of the 14 weeks of the competition! And the only reason he ended up with 2nd place at the end was that the rules did NOT allow a non Chinese competitor to get first place. When DImash does a cover song by another artist; he takes the song away from the original artist, I have seen it time and time again in so many performances and covers of other songs; no one can do what he does and even if he did not mean to do this, it just happens; as he is just so perfect in his singing style and performance and seems to know instictively exactly what the song really needs. he is a musical genius.
Watch Dimash slay "The Show Must Go On" ...and as a non-English speaker... he's singing it by learning and memorizing the English words phonetically; the sound of each syllable, not the understanding of the word...if you know what I mean? I think they were running the "words" on some kind of tele-prompter that he could see while performing the song...and I'm assuming here...for the first time live before an audience. He is such a showman, so naturally dynamic with such charisma, talent and charm that he can pull off nearly impossible feats, virtually unrehearsed and appearing so at ease... he's like the preformers of early Hollywood, the live TV variety show singers, actors, dancers like Bing Crosby, Sammy Davis Jr. Fred Astaire and comedic actors like Red Skelton & Bob Hope. After seeing this performance for the first time, all I could think was " holy cow, put Dimash on the American Music Awards ( and let him be the first to perform) so I could see who out of the American artists would have the guts to come on after Dimash ! It was explained to Dimash by the other contestants that you need to make a big impact on the audience, so you have to really sell your song so if it seems like Dimash goes too far or harder than he normally would on a song that’s the reason why. I personally think Dimash is the best vocalist ever, and he’s worked hard since he was young to earn that distinction.
Hello dear, in all the competitions that Dimash participated in he won, only in China he came in 2nd because no one there could come in first place, except the Chinese, but he exploded on the 1st day of presentation with SOS and became an idol .

You are right about nkt listening to Dimash in a truck etc. I am not even sure if it would cut across the same even on a download or radio. The thing is the live performance that just pulls you in and once there, you stay abd await to see what is next. He can hold a whole audience of thousands in an almost spell like atmosphere by being very dramatic or by a single gentle hand movement in time to the music he is performing. I really really do not like operatic music but I listen to him singing Olympico often and I just never tire of it because the tone of his voice makes the opera somehow not opera. He does Queen with super vocal boys, he does film theme with across endless dimensions, jeez he did a version of power rangers. Every genre all amazing.

So what did he do? I'd say he truly *lived the protagonist* of this song, *singing to an imaginary lover* (as Lara presumably intended) , but *also to Lara* because he had adored her since he was 12 , and presumably thought if nothing else he was singing it to express his love for her, at least in his heart and spirit (they had never met or even talked when he performed this; she heard about it, watched it, and essentially instantly fell in love with him, as a mother might, calling him the next day, and later writing a song for him, singing with him, etc.), *and, to the audience* , from whom he must have desperately wanted love, especially if it was to be his last performance in the competition. He had first sung in the competition just 6 weeks before this cover of Adagio, opening the whole show's season with his legendary SOS performance, which had already catapulted him to fame. So he held nothing back, blending performance art with his true feelings to the absolute max. There are around 50 Dimash songs I love beyond words; this is absolutely one of them. Dimash composed the music, wrote the script, did all of the singing (In English and sounds like 8 people), and played one of the main characters. It is about war and the need for peace which he advocates. It is intense and hard to watch at times but it is a masterpiece. Then of course, you will want to see El Amor En Ti... 4 Dimash's on stage, as he sings with himself. You just have to see it.

This isn't your average competition like AGT or Idol. It's a 12 week competition between established artists who already have solid careers behind them. Dimash was a wildcard brought in from a foreign country and the youngest participant in the history of the show.
The 500 members of the audience were the judges for all of the 14 weeks of the competition! And the only reason he ended up with 2nd place at the end was that the rules did NOT allow a non Chinese competitor to get first place. When DImash does a cover song by another artist; he takes the song away from the original artist, I have seen it time and time again in so many performances and covers of other songs; no one can do what he does and even if he did not mean to do this, it just happens; as he is just so perfect in his singing style and performance and seems to know instictively exactly what the song really needs. he is a musical genius.

Watch Dimash slay "The Show Must Go On" ...and as a non-English speaker... he's singing it by learning and memorizing the English words phonetically; the sound of each syllable, not the understanding of the word...if you know what I mean? I think they were running the "words" on some kind of tele-prompter that he could see while performing the song...and I'm assuming here...for the first time live before an audience. He is such a showman, so naturally dynamic with such charisma, talent and charm that he can pull off nearly impossible feats, virtually unrehearsed and appearing so at ease... he's like the preformers of early Hollywood, the live TV variety show singers, actors, dancers like Bing Crosby, Sammy Davis Jr. Fred Astaire and comedic actors like Red Skelton & Bob Hope. (yeah that dates me, and infact today is my 60th Birthday, so I've seen 55 years of the best of the best)

It was explained to Dimash by the other contestants that you need to make a big impact on the audience, so you have to really sell your song so if it seems like Dimash goes too far or harder than he normally would on a song that’s the reason why. I personally think Dimash is the best vocalist ever, and he’s worked hard since he was young to earn that distinction.

You are right about nkt listening to Dimash in a truck etc. I am not even sure if it would cut across the same even on a download or radio. The thing is the live performance that just pulls you in and once there, you stay abd await to see what is next. He can hold a whole audience of thousands in an almost spell like atmosphere by being very dramatic or by a single gentle hand movement in time to the music he is performing. I really really do not like operatic music but I listen to him singing Olympico often and I just never tire of it because the tone of his voice makes the opera somehow not opera. He does Queen with super vocal boys, he does film theme with across endless dimensions, jeez he did a version of power rangers. Every genre all amazing.
Their minds were blown on the first night of competitions when he performed SOS. He was only 22 here.
🎼💥He came last in the previous round (his anarchic, delightful, but ultimately weird cover of Uptown Funk). So he was under pressure to win this one or he'd be out of the competition. So what did he do?
I'd say he truly *lived the protagonist* of this song, *singing to an imaginary lover* (as Lara presumably intended) , but *also to Lara* because he had adored her since he was 12 , and presumably thought if nothing else he was singing it to express his love for her, at least in his heart and spirit (they had never met or even talked when he performed this; she heard about it, watched it, and essentially instantly fell in love with him, as a mother might, calling him the next day, and later writing a song for him, singing with him, etc.), *and, to the audience* , from whom he must have desperately wanted love, especially if it was to be his last performance in the competition.
He had first sung in the competition just 6 weeks before this cover of Adagio, opening the whole show's season with his legendary SOS performance, which had already catapulted him to fame. So he held nothing back, blending performance art with his true feelings to the absolute max. There are around 50 Dimash songs I love beyond words; this is absolutely one of them.

Dimash composed the music, wrote the script, did all of the singing (In English and sounds like 8 people), and played one of the main characters. It is about war and the need for peace which he advocates. It is intense and hard to watch at times but it is a masterpiece. Then of course, you will want to see El Amor En Ti... 4 Dimash's on stage, as he sings with himself. You just have to see it.

By invitation to professionals, it's grueling months of field eliminations to get to the 13 televised weeks of final eliminations, requiring a new piece every week that hadn't been used to date in the contest. At 22, he was the youngest finalist in its history and the only non Chinese to ever do it. He ran it all the way to the end snowballing it into multi hundreds of millions of viewers, and lost in the final round to a CHINESE girl ! Surprise !
