- On a cold, rainy day in Busan, we randomly stumbled across one of the city's most famous restaurants that specializes in the local favorite "Dwaeji Gukbap", Pig Intestine Rice Soup. We were a little intimidated by the pig body parts hanging from the wall, but we decided to go for it anyway...

I'm late because I just discovered your channel. I'm Korean-American and I was quite impressed by you guys recognizing elements about the dish without knowing the culture and language. I can see you guys are seasoned travelers. Like he knew the salted shrimp was for salting the dish without needing it to be explained to him. And you Emily(?), recognized it was an old traditional hearty dish for villagers and weren't freaked out like a typical westerner would be. Cheers to you and safe travels.
You've identified correctly ;) Plus, we spent 1 month in Korea studying the culture, learning how to speak some Korean and read Hangeul, and asking lots of questions before we started filming content to post on RUclips. We're by no means experts, but we did get somewhat acquainted with Korean culture before we started filming :)
And you're not late! Still lots of content coming!
You're supposed to put about a table spoon of the salted shrimp into the soup, and then dump the rice into the soup. Eat them with side dishes.
I like having the rice on the side, but you're right, the dish is supposed to be eaten with rice inside ~
You guys are very funny as always, nice entertaining video keep enjoying time there 😊
Thanks Ben! :) 🇰🇷🇰🇷🥢🍚
Love the popping of the subtitles
Thank you!

If you come to South Korea, I highly recommend trying this soup at least once! (You can even find it in Seoul)
It’s a soup that many Koreans love (especially after a night of drinking), and it’s a unique eating experience :)
Also, don’t forget to add the “pap” (rice) into the soup towards the end when there’s only about 1/4-1/3 of the broth left
Eat on Busan is much better than Seoul
@@boomyitv Yes 👍🏼
Must add salt/shrimp most Korean soups of that nature are purposely not salted much so that the eater can add salt to their personal preference. So if it’s a little bland don’t be afraid to add salt!
It makes me happy to see you enjoying your food. If you go to a restaurant and don't know how to eat, it's a good idea to ask the restaurant staff. :)
2:56 What a clever man! You got the right answer~!
Dwaeji Gukbap literally translates to Pork Rice Soup. The milky color comes from boiling bones for a long time at high temperature. And the reason why it tasted a bit bland is because when it comes to all kinds of bone broths in Korea, usually the patron seasons the broth at the table with salt and pepper or with a spicy salty paste made out of garlic and gochugaru (korean chilli powder). These bone broth soups are very healthy and usually don't have much fat because Korean's like to strain the soup so you are left with no floating fat on top. And the green that was served as a side dish and in the soup are Korean chives.
lol.. good job.. it was already impressive you ordered that.. but to figure out the salted shrimp into the soup is almost korean.
Thank you! 🙏🏼 I am honored ☺️🇰🇷
wow I would certainly love to try here when I visit Busan! How did u guys find this place out?
Someone told us we should find this soup when we went to Busan, and we just stumbled across this restaurant and were like: there it is! Little did we know this place would be famous 😅 It was random
The Korean subtitle is like watching this video makes me hungry..haha
Her assessment was accurate, and I recommend eating sundae soup rather than pork soup. It is more popular and has a refreshing taste. Pork soup may be slightly cloudy and the smell of pork may be unpleasant. Good day
Made me hungry 🤤
Haha, you do love yourself some Dwaeji Gukbap!
I had been always curious about Asian history, cultures and manners, but I’m not so sure about their food 🙈 I may be not that brave to taste that like you guys 😅
Haha it was definitely intimidating when we saw the pig hanging from the wall there 🙈 but we decided to push ahead and go for it anyway
stick with your sandwiches and starbucks, beta people 😂
My fav soup !!!!!!!!!!! When i was in Korea, i ate that for 4-5$😂
Best tasted with soju

Is it raw shrimps?
yummy🍜😋
I’m not sure if they’re raw or cooked, but I know they’re fermented :) and they’re suuuper small 🦐🤏🏼
And so salty, so if you try them don’t add too many!! 😝
@@20CamelsEmily It's salted and fermented and raw just like kimchi
u r braver than me. i could not do that.
Thank you 😆 we could do it together!!
You guys remind me of Maddie Jack McKenzie and Dakota!❤
And by the way you look like Brooke!❤
Who are they? 🙈 ❤️
I looked them up and couldn’t find them
Jack is Maddie‘s boyfriend and decoda is Kenzie‘s boyfriend and Maddie And McKenzie are from dance moms and so is Brooke!
Oh I see now! Thank you 😊
When will you visit Pakistan?
Hopefully soon! 😉
Just a side note but, Koreans use spoons much more heavily than rest of Asian countries as far as I know. We'd mosly use spoons for rice and soup/stew (for its contents and broth), and chopsticks for noodles, side dishes or somethings that spoons won't do easily. So whenever I see westerners keep trying to eat rice with chopsticks in Korean restaurants even when they can't do well, I feel quite a bit frustrated. Even if I tell them you'd use spoon, they won't listen and just keep trying.. LOL
Hahaha I guess we don’t know that Koreans eat rice with a spoon 😆 So we try to do it the “Korean” way
@@20CamelsEmily I am frustrated prolly because I guess that those people just assume that Koreans live exactly like other east asians (Chinese and Japanese). Kinda a stereotype of "asians" I reckon. 😂
Yeah, I can understand your frustration there@@terrayi
