    The environment in Jindo island is not old or before development or anything. It is just typical rural area that is not so rich or fancy. And, the houses were not so much destroyed by Korean war or Japanese invasion(technically just under Japanese regime, no war). The houses were just thatched and just too old.

Its nice in the village because you immediatly feel the decongestion from the crowded and anxious cities but ive seen that after 2 weeks in the village, i had very few things to do and got bored so i got back to the bustling city

Some people dont like english as a universal language and dont think its a sign of respect to like speak a language that the most people on earth in most of the countries understand it. and im not english, i am from europe, if you dont know at least one foreign language its like you never traveled around the world, knowing another language opens up new mental and spiritual posibilities

    This is an amazing island, but weren't you scared hiking all by yourself in the middle of nowhere? 😂

      Simplicity in what sense? I'm curious (in a good way!)
      As for whether I was scared hiking alone in the middle of nowhere... You know, not really! My airbnb host assured me that people on the island kept to themselves, and that the island was safe overall.
      But watching this video now, I also feel like I should have been scared haha.
      I'm going to be home in a few weeks, so might be something I film this time! ;)
      Hugs back to Lebanon 🇱🇧 from thousands of miles away! 🇰🇷

    The countryside in Korea looks very peaceful. But I was worried when you were breaking the thorny branch. As I thought, you get thorn injury. Does it hurt a lot? Some thorns are poisonous. Watch out! Did you went alone? I didn't saw your boyfriend. Why he didn't followed with you? I'm worried about you. I also see dogs on the way you are going. Be careful. I wish you always be happy, healthy and safe.💕💞💓

      I DID go alone! It was a solo trip for me. Valentine is in the US right now becoming an American citizen! 🇺🇸
      And the dogs were not too aggressive thankfully :)

    13:39 it is not the traditional way,
    the grave usually looks like a little round hill,
    and if it is family gravesite, it need almost like a small mountain.
    However, nowadays, people cremate and make that way in the video,
    so they don’t have to care as much ( cutting grass of the grave and so on)
    since most of the descendants are in the city and don’t have time to care.

I've watched your video some of that, and it seems ordinary but unique at the same time. For me, this is the perfect video for learning English. Your voice, tone, and everything is a masterpiece, you know. Sometimes, it's a little regrettable when Koreans don't say hello and give good information because of the language block. But it's lovely you have the power to do it on your own. Keep up the good work. Koreans must love you.

    About the snakes, i had this thing in the area i like to hike in, all the people said there are snakes there and poisonous ones like Corn Vipers but i really havent seen one snake and especially not on the road and i have searched the area a lot. Others have seen them but more like in the gardens. Makes sense because in the gardens there can be more food also for the snakes (house rats...) Generally in the forests i havent seen a lot of animals and they usually hide or are shy of humans. Animals that come in the village, they are different. I guess it depends on the area and the season you go to hike (in the spring here its mating season so more snakes) but generally animals gravitate where there is a lot of food. I dont think snakes like to stay on roads (even if covered by leaves), maybe im wrong but ive tested this and definitely i havent seen snakes on the road anywhere. I have seen snakes in the garden or water snakes, although not poisonous. Still you can never be to carefull. I think some snakes like to hide under a rock. It depends on the area you are in of course.
    And i see you have found a red Rusula mushroom, same as here in my area, they are edible (i think its a red Rusula, they look similar)
    And yes dont take anything with spikes from the forest, not worth it. Here there are many plants with spikes including blueberries (large ones), its a pain in the ass, better find another stick

    • @20CamelsEmily
      @20CamelsEmily  Год назад

      Good to know about the snakes. I wasn't sure how common they were here, and neither did my host, so it seems he prepared me for the worst haha, but yeah always good to be extra cautious just in case.
      Next time I see one of those mushrooms, I'll definitely pick it! 🍄 (And consult a local to double check)
      Out of curiosity, which area of Korea are you in?

    • @truckersforfreedom4535
      @truckersforfreedom4535 Год назад +1

      @@20CamelsEmily Strangely, i am not in Korea:) but i recognised kinda the same vegetation, mushrooms, the snake risk, rural life, lack of english from the area i go to hike in Europe which is almost as isolated with literally no one on the trail. Also the same lack of knowledge from the villagers to tell you for sure how common snake are in a specific area. It also seems snakes are common near some rivers in some parts (although i havent seen them personally) but ive seen others say it.
      And yeah in "snake land" its actually good to make noise, not to walk in silent to not "disturb the forest". Its better i think to make noise because usually animals are afraid if they just "bump into you" and noise gives them time to run away. About snakes, its good to find out when is their mating season, usually snakes are shy creatures that will hide from humans or just sit on a rock and your equipment is good, boots and long pants, long bluse i see too many people going out in nature unequiped and they risk bites. Even if a snake can bite you even with clothes, there is a high chance to inject less poison which is always better.
      And yeah for snakes its not good to consume their venom (its painfull) so they will only do it for survival.
      I think in general snakes are misunderstood and other animals can be more of a pest.
      But yeah, if someone makes the mistake of pulling out a snake they can get bitten and young snakes are just as venemous as adults (if there is a venomous snake), or if you dont see the snake and get too close...
