I like how the toy version has pinless joints. That little change seems to clean up the look quite a bit.

I love the retro look of these figures. Damn you, Super7, now I have to give you my money again...
Good thing for Super7 that LJN is no longer here as they have no problems reproducing the the classic look of the figs. They seem to have a problem with Playmates with the TMNT line. Super7 did a great job on this reissus as they are not just a simple repaint of the original figures they have released
Dan... One thing you did not mention during the comparison time is that the toy versions are pinless. And that is a big deal for me. I am glad most figures are moving in this direction. The motu classics are a great line & have aged well but them big pins look bad. 😕
McFarlane use pin in joints and it gives it so much more better articulation . So pinless is not always better
@@Charmander009 very true; however, the pins are small, not BIG like the Classics motu line. And there's no denying pinless looks better. Now posing can go either way. I have motu origins, Mondo motu, tmnt ultimates and they all look awesome & are pinless. Btw my G.I. Joe classified pose better than all the above including Mcfarlene DC.and they are majority pinless.
Most of the Thundercats line is pineless except for the first few made that were using the Mattel Classiscs molds. Super 7 uses pineless for all their other lines.

I initially assumed these were straight re-paints... But I gotta give them credit, they did a good job making these unique from the standard versions and also capturing that nostalgic feel.
I prefer to have the toon colours to toy. I would also prefer toon to toy for the Silverhawks as well.
mumm-ra looks bastardized quite a bit but that Lion-o hits hard in the feels... I remember making their eyes light up with those little ring things.. Those figures were revolutionary.
It would’ve been funny if those figures would’ve had a hole in their back‘s to reference the old light up feature on the original figures
My Lion-O arrives today. I'm beyond excited. As you know, Thundercats is my jam! That poor poor Mumm-Ra... what a missed opportunity, man. I canceled my pre-order once I saw the green. I had some special backgrounds made by NickDoobs, too, to fit the matty collector wall stands so I could put these and the vintage toys together. Guess that's not gonna happen. Thanks for the review, Dan.
The color is close enough and it still looks so much like the vintage figure that it's fine but that's just my opinion
@Briar Shinn I'm glad you like, I feel most will. It doesn't work for the display I was going for. The Lion-O transitions perfectly from the vintage toy, and this doesn't. On its own or with the rest of the Ultimates, it's great. The sculpt is spot on. The color is supposed to be spot on, not close enough. With that said, this Lion-O is the best figure I've ever purchased.

Great observations! You voice some valid concerns and offer justified praises for these releases. I hope Super 7 continues making LJN homage variants. I also hope they offer vehicles for the villains to go up against the recently released Thundertank. I would also love to get 2011 animated series inspired ThunderCats action figures and comic book variants.

Nice. The new Mumm-Ra is a definite improvement when it comes to the painted-on skirt piece of the original. I have to say the earlier cartoon version looks like a must-have. Great-looking figure, that one.
They should have put a red transparent visor strip on the back of both of their heads so the sunlight or bedroom light can make the eyes light up
When i was a kid i hated how figures looked different than the actual characters. I am glad i am inmune for the appeal at this tough that Ronald McDonald Lion-O looks better paibted than Tygra

No reason in 2023 to not nail colors. But will still be getting these.
Pretty sure the reason why Lion-O still has the peg on his hip is in case you want to swap accessories.
The claw glove and the the sword on this release are not show-accurate, but Lion-O's paint scheme here is. With some accessory swapping, you'll have as close to 100% screen accurate as possible.
I was going to skip these two but they look better than I initially thought. Monkian and Cheetara are the two I am super excited for!
Pixel Dan, it seems like forever since we got one of your interviews with Brian Flynn. While being professional, you seemed to get to most of the questions we as Collectors had for Brian in regards to the line. (My opinion, most other interviewers just stroke his ego)
Is it possible to get a one on one with him again to get some clarification on the direction of the TC Ultimates Line?

In my recent Sarima video called Sarima and The River of Doom it borrows many scenes from The Super Friends short River of Doom starring Wonder Woman and Rima.
Missed opportunity not having the light-up eyes feature or including them with a non-articulated Snarf and Ma-Mutt. Also, $75.00 for Mumm-Ra is steep, when Mumm-Ra the Ever Living was $60. Rent must climbing in S.F.!!

Hey Dan If/when you get a super7 Thundertank be sure to comment on how the tank treads are far too low and not high enough like it is on every other toy and animation. The tank treads are supposed to reach to the top of the tank and significantly extend beyond the back of the tank but super7 tank treads are short and flat ruining it. 😒

I think I like these figures more than the ones based on the animated series. The figure that most resembles Lion -O in the animated series was Bandai's, unfortunately it was not successful and it was noticeable that there was not much interest in doing things right, since Tigro was a pretty bad figure. In short, these S7 figures are very good, I would like them to improve the joints a little more, but taking into account that the old figures did not have any joints, these current ones are perfect.
I’ve stayed away from collecting thunder cats just cuz I don’t have a lot room but these new ljn versions look really awesome. I’ll have a talk with my wallet first though. 😂😬👍

I've gotten so used to the "new look" Thundercats toys that these versions almost seem like 2 steps back in terms of sculpt, colors and accessories!

I don't know if it's just me, but your last several videos have been far quieter than like...other videos on RUclips. Even with everything turned up high, it's tough to hear everything.

Ah you realize that this is the LGN inspired toys right? So the cartoon has nothing to say about this figure.

I don’t see how these are any more of a “lazy exploitation” of that nostalgia than any other adult collector line.

Taking a set of toys that have already been released and repainting them, not even accurately, to look sort of like the classic toy line so that you can make a few more bucks off the same toys you've already released without doing any work or even caring if it is even actually the same as the classic toys is lazy beyond lazy exploitation of nostalgia whether or not you see it. This is not even remotely what good nostalgia is about.

It's such a lazy attempt that even the sugar sweet overly nice never really says anything bad about a company Dan says that he is probably an idiot for buying this...when Dan points it out OMG it is bad. Anyway, you don't have to see it, but that doesn't change the reality of it. It is the laziest of lazy .
