    Hi Heath, I agree with you. The white bucktail is a real universal bait. We bounce them on the bottom, while drifting for flounder. We usually add a strip of squid or a Gulp swimming minnow as a trailer. They work well on Blue Fish and Stripped Bass. I love to watch you catch fish. It always puts a smile on my face. Say "Hi" to the "Fish Slayer" and the "Fishing Girls," Talk to you on Sunday and have a good weekend. Have fun and good luck, Mickey

    I am curious as to how far from the transom are you trolling the jigs and what speed. Also, how heavy are the jigs you are trolling? In the past, I have found that trolling with a spinning reel has been a problem with me. The line burys into the spool. Also, Fisging in Alabama the depths are shallow campared to your area. I would like to field test the white jig against Clark's spoons for Spanish Mack. Any wager on which one will be the winner? Thanks, I enjoy your videos because it appears you are a down to earth fisheramn and not caught up in the quad engine atmosphere.

      Thanks a million for watching and asking some great questions. The jigs I use are either 1/2 or 3/4 ounce from the company SPRO. I troll them between 4 and 7 knots. I let the out between 100 and 150 back. Never really had the line burying problem, but I understand what you're talking about. That and line twist are common issues with spinners and trolling, but sometimes it just makes more sense to troll with the lighter gear.... It's a lot about the shock absorbency factor. I use both bucktails and clark spoons for Spanish Macks... Both seem to work equally effective. Never really thought about a comparison until now. Maybe I'll have to do an apples to apples episode when they migrate through this year. Hope this info helps. Good luck out there. Thanks again for your support of the channel. I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

    How much line did you let out when you were fishing on this video and how deep do you think the half ounce bucktail were swimming? I think the more line you let out the deeper the lure would swim, and likewise, the faster you troll the deeper the lure swims as well, do you agree? Thanks for an excellent demo and for teaching us the art of troll fishing!

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  2 года назад

      I let out around 100 feet. The lure trolls just below the surfaces maybe 6 inches down. I troll at about 6 mph. That depth won't change by letting out more line. You can troll deeper by slowing down. But that defeats the purpose of trolling, which is enticing the impulse to feed from an actively hunting fish. Hope this helps.

  • @garylawlor2288
    @garylawlor2288 3 года назад

    Top channel mate. Can I ask, if you adjust the speed of the troll according to which way your boat is travelling? For example would you go slower if trolling into the tide?

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 года назад +1

      Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. Yes, trolling is active fishing, through your throttle. This is why you have to watch your GPS speed, which is your speed over the bottom, and not your speedometer, which is your speed over water. Your boat will go faster, with current at a lower RPM, and it will go slower against the current at a higher RPM... So yes, I am always adjusting speed, depending on the ebb and flow of the current against the boat direction. Hope this helps. Thanks again for you support of the channel. I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 года назад

      Thanks a boat load for watching and asking a great question. I use the spiderhitch/ no-name knot combo for it's shock absorbancy factor. The albright or alberto knots are excellent, I use them for tying braid to fluoro or mono. But, ultimately, it works either... I would say in this case, if it isn't broke don't fix it. If you're having success with the albright, don't change a thing. Hope this helps. Thanks again for all your support of the channel, truly and sincerely apprecciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

      Thanks a boat load for watching and asking a great question. Yes you can troll the bucktail with a trailer on a planer, it will work just as effectively. Trolling a tandem rig with one 3oz. bucktail and one 1oz. bucktail, in maximum trolling speed of 5 knots and a distance of up to 80-90 meters from the boat, how deep these bucktails will dive to?
