    Very cool, I like seeing how a guy can go about making these tools that are otherwise living in Dreamland.

    Check out 15:00 at the motor and tank,....
    Good job i like it when people get outside the box. I have a old screw type splitter? I wonder if that would work?

      Balzar Frozenoft wow I completely didn't notice that. It has to be the vibrations and the frame rate working together to make it capture that. That's awesome. Thank you for pointing that out.

    I’ve been thinking about doing this as a cheaper and easier access alternative to a power hammer. All the videos I’ve seen of people making log splitter presses, I see they all put electric motors on them. But I wanted to see how the gas motor would work, and for you, it seems to work just fine. Thanks for this informative video series.
    Oh. And I wanted to add, you’re right about what you said about preheating your thick steel and getting better penetration, but there’s also another purpose. It also keeps the welds from cooling down too quickly, as thicker steel is a heat sink, so it helps prevent the welds from cracking.

      marvin alan cornell I think it was the plastic tank virbrating and the perfect frame rate that captured that because it doesn't do it with the naked eye

    You did it! Looks like it turned out awesome. Gas was not too loud in pre build. might drown out voice a little bit, but whats a race car without the engine roar! Nice job on the build. Makes me want to mortgage the boardwalk and Marvin gardens to build one myself. 🤔 can it be done

    PS. The torch at 8:43, can it get metal hot enough to do rivets and bends in small-ish stock?

    • @CountyLineForge
      @CountyLineForge  6 лет назад +1

      Anuron Ironworks depending on the size maybe...I would say anything bigger than 1/4" would probably not get hot enough

    group I & II aren't too bad about preheat. above 50 deg ambient temp, no preheat for thicknesses up to 1.5" ,1.5-2" 150 deg, >2" 250 deg. that covers A36 to A572, group III which is gunna be more the tool steel I think preheat starts at 1" @ 250 deg to a max of 400 deg including interpass temperature , might be 450??? all to do with the heat affected zone. preheat allows the weld to cool slower and more consistently throughout. pile heavy weld on a joint with no heat and it bows worse and potential of under bead cracking. think of it as normalizing or annealing the weldment

    • @CountyLineForge
      @CountyLineForge  11 месяцев назад

      I'm not sure I understand the question. If you're asking the volume of the hydraulic fluid tank, it's like 10 gallons.
