LOVE this video - thanks for sharing! Irises and Hydrangeas are my fave flowers. I love that you showed how to use the watercolor pencils in the painting!
Another winner for me Michelle. I think that irises are the best subject - strong form and yet soft and mysterious at the same time. And, soooo many varieties to use almost every colour in your palette. I shall have to put this one in my ‘ to do’ box. Thanks!👍
Your work is fabulous! I love your style...clear instruction. Thank you so much for sharing your thought process too. I've learned a lot watching you work and teach.
Wow! That is amazing. I can’t wait to try this. I have some Iris pictures that I would love to paint. I feel bold today so I’m on it. I will post no matter how it comes out. First I will watch this tutorial 3 or 4 or 20 times. You Rock!
Beautiful and elegant. I like the style of painting. Ps. I love looking at your nails and your choice of colours. Thank you so much for teaching your tutorial. It’s very informative and fun. Please keep on teaching. I need you artistically.
I learned so much watching this video Michelle! Thank you! I teach a small group of seniors in my apt building and I am going to show them some of your videos on techniques. Do you have workshops? My dream is to travel to England, Ireland, Scotland for a painting workshop! After this virus gets under control, of course!
Glad it was helpful! Yes I teach many workshops but of course I can't do any in venues at the moment. I was also planning to teach an art holiday in Malta in 2021, but again I had to cancel. I would also love to travel to the US at some point to teach, as so many of my YT subscribers are there. I will return to teaching as soon as possible. Keep an eye on my FB group/website and you will see when they go up :-)
Such a gorgeous iris! Irises always remind me of my father. He had an iris bed that he tended every summer. I would love to paint an iris like this but I struggle when it comes to drawing irises. They don't seem to follow the guidelines you taught in another video about drawing flowers. Do you have any recommendations on how to draw an iris?
My favorite flowers are purple/blue hydrangeas. I know that you have posted a video on backgrounds, but I would love to see one done like this one. Thank you.
Thank you Michele, so glad I have found your videos, they are so informative and just what I have been looking for. I have been selling my artwork for about 12 months to friends and family and am often asked for prints of my work but I have no idea how to go about this. I am sure lots of budding artists who sell their work would be interested in this topic and wondered if you would be making any future videos in relation to this topic. Btw love your nails!!!!.
So glad you like the videos Carole 🙂 Yes I will make a video about prints one day. Meantime there's a page on my website that covers the basics: www.michelewebber.com/producing-giclee-prints
Loved your tutorial. Love and see beauty in all flowers, but favorites are peonies, iris, and sunflowers. I like the effect you produce with the watercolor pencils and would love to try them. Do you have a favorite brand? Do they come with a sharpener? ❤
Just discovered your tutorials. Really helpful. I’ve been trying to paint big petal flowers of all sort eg tulips, lillies, would also like to try roses and wisteria. Do you teach a looser technique too?
I do work wet into wet and a little looser on landscapes and particularly pen and wash. But it is my style to be fairly precise. Perhaps I should do a flower pen and wash! That would be looser...
I would love to learn how to paint a magnolia flower that is just starting to open in a loose style. I have really been struggling lately with my watercolor painting. I want so badly to paint loose, splashy paintings! However, when I start to paint, I catch myself struggling to get all the details just right in a more botanical sort of way. I end up frustrated and letting my grand kids finish the paintings. Any advice on how I can stop the internal war of styles going on in my mind when I paint would be greatly appreciated. I hope you and yours have a very Happy and Safe Fourth of July Holiday, full of Love, Laughter, and beautiful Colors! Much Love and Respect from North Carolina, Stacy
Thank you Stacy, I hope you had a great fourth of July, the weather in England is sunny and warm (for a change!). My advice is don't try to inflict a style on yourself. I used to try and paint like so many different artists I admired, but it always ended badly because I am not them. Just because you admire loose work doesn't mean it is necessarily the right way for you to work. Botanical work is beautiful too. Concentrate on improving your skills, drawing, paint control. Your style will find you when it is ready, it's not something you can force :-)
Hi Michele, how did you mask out the flower shapes? I really struggle doing wet on wet when I have to go round complex shapes like flowers. I then ruin a reasonable flower painting when I attempt the backgroumd. A beautiful painting by the way, I love irises too!
Try my Facebook group, same name as this channel. If it's there it will be under media, albums and there's an album for tutorial photos. If it's not there email me using the form on my website but give me a few days as I am traveling 🙂
Let me know in the comments - which is your favourite sort of flower to paint?
Bougainvillea
This iris is so interesting with the color variations. You’re just delightful to watch. Thank you so much for sharing your gifts with the world!
Thank you so much!

Great painting
The iris is my favorite flower and you do justice to it's beauty.

I love any sculptural flowers with drama. Poppies, Amarilis, Lilies ☺️

Love the idea of following watercolour pencil after applying the wash, tfs
Thanks for watching Maria, it's a nice technique!
Lovely! My favorite flower in my favorite colors, I will try this after I've had some more practice!
Wonderful, good luck with your painting!

Not yet Carol but it's a great suggestion, they still come from a centre point but of course the shape is more complex.
My favorite flowers are purple/blue hydrangeas. I know that you have posted a video on backgrounds, but I would love to see one done like this one. Thank you.
You mean with a white background? My friend has blue hydrangeas, I meant to take a photo, I must do that!
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber Maybe a green background such as foliage.
This Iris was brilliant! Please help with roses!
I think I have a rose tutorial if you do a youtube search :-)

Hi Maggie, Caran D'ache Museum are the ones I use. They are very good. They didn't come with a sharpener, but you can use any sharpener.
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber Thank you. I will look for them.

I didn't mask them. I simply painted the background round the white paper. Remember not all botanicals need a background!
hi.! Id love to try but I cant draw your flowers. Is there a reference photo?
