    I believe we need to stop looking on it as a "battle". I'm calling it a transition 😀 into calmer waters

      I agree. Thinking of your body as a war zone and learning to heal from pain as a battle cannot help but trigger your crocodile brain into thinking it IS dangerous. But damn, it's hard, as our culture uses that language all the time! And so do most of us. Great comment - we are sailing into calmer waters. Doesn't mean the weather will always be with us, but we WILL eventually sail into safe harbour!

    This is me today! Literally been pain free for months and last couple of days gone back into a flare for no reason at all. Haven't injured myself, not particularly stressed at the moment. It's just come on out of the blue again. Hard not to get frustrated but I'm not going to let this win! I'm on it with your help and guidance from your great videos! Calm reassurance!

    9:59 The same for anxiety ...1 month ago I was ok with a first surgery and since a few days anxiety came back cause of a next surgery... first I panic , then I thought it was a protection of my nervous system feeling a danger. So I accepted better and now I m feeling much better. Sorry for my english... thanks Dan, courage to everyone and hello from France 🎉

    Thanks Dan, your videos are like a pill I take to calm myself down ❤ This is a reassuring message, I’m sure we all want to think it’ll be 100% gone. But a few random ‘flare ups’ over many years it’s pretty much the same as any other person without TMS, I’m sure they experience some sort something but just don’t call it anything.
    I’m currently in the process of accepting my sleep being a bit worse and I don’t need to think that it’ll go away in a day if I ‘just have the perfect mindset’ taught in this channel. Be realistic, you won’t be enjoying it or ignoring it, there will be little concern depending on the symptom, but make sure it’s little! Eventually none, but needs to be genuine, and that takes time. Be okay with the idea that tonight may or may not be painful but I’ll still sleep.. let go!!

    Great advice! After being pain free for one year, I had a relapse. Very painful TMS. It freaked me out at first. But after calming down, and knowing what it was, I got back on track. I would add that I know it was caused by a combination of stressful situations that built up over a few months. Unfortunately I got complacent and stopped working at keeping the TMS in check. It’s a good idea to still journal once in a while and check in with yourself even when you’re pain free because life continues to throw us curve balls. Don’t stop the work. It’s okay to ease up and not work as hard and as often, but we still need to keep that reservoir from filling back up. Re reading one of Sarno’s books also helps to reassure one’s self.

    Great advice today. I have been listening to you for a few weeks now, and my pain is much better with your advice, I am someone who thought that if I could get on top of TMS the pain would be gone forever so now I know that if it flares up again I just have to reassure my self that I am safe ♥️

    I would just say I started taking anti-anxiety meds a couple years ago basically to sleep better. The problem is your body gets normalized to it then it doesn’t work and it actually makes you more anxious in the end. I am in the process of weaning off and that is nasty.
    Just trying to let you know, it’s not a solution

    • @thedancingdivaofdaviestree2320
      @thedancingdivaofdaviestree2320 3 дня назад

      I hear you, Greg. Prescription drugs harm in the long term, they don't heal. They numb and sedate - and you can't heal what you can't feel. I was prescribed benzos (that's drugs like Valium, Xanax, and Clonazepam for the innocent, the eager, and the doomed) for 20 years. I had NO idea how harmful they are - they're safe for only 2 weeks, but cause indescribable harm when you're on them long term. Much sympathy - they worsen the symptoms you have and add dozens more! Thankfully, the brain heals, just as the muscles do. Getting off benzos and elavil (prescribed for chronic insomnia and pain from Fibromyalgia and CFS/ME) gave me my life back. I literally went from crawling - my blood pressure was so dangerously low - to dancing, and from being housebound and bedridden to writing, performing, exercising and socializing. I've learned new ways that sometimes help me sleep MUCH better - and when stress strikes and insomnia hits, I don't fuss about it any more. I just exercise aerobically and do lots of short meditations -because both give you similar effects to sleep and STILL accomplish more than I ever did on the meds! Thanks for warning people - I wish someone like you had done that for me decades ago! And wonderful video, Dan!

    I was symptom free for 8-9 years. All of my symptoms were predicated off fear and catastrophic thinking projecting bad stuff into the future. Got through it took a long time. Something triggered me the 8-9 years later I responded with extreme panic and fear and those neuropathways opened right back up. I never knew about tms til this time I kind of just got out and prayed it would never happen again and when it did I found this community and it all made sense. Never did til I found Dan. The brain turns the alarm systems on when you truly believe something horrific is happening.

    • @thedancingdivaofdaviestree2320
      @thedancingdivaofdaviestree2320 3 дня назад

      Trauma, tons of inescapable stress, plus grief can cause symptoms to return too. I was 80% better for 6 glorious years - minimal pain and No CFS/ME exhaustion symptoms - which I'd had for 45 years! It felt like a miracle. Then a ton of stress hit, which hasn't yet ended - and back came the symptoms. But learning to do somatic tracking and learning about mind/body medicine feels like a safety net. Knowing what it is helps hugely, and sometimes, when I figure out the emotion or problem UNDERLYING the pain - it disappears in a few minutes or overnight. That feels like magic! We WILL make it and recover - we did it once, we can do it again!

      By George, you've got it! The pain is mainly caused by the brain (and yes, some days it DOES drive you insane!) Learning to be calm about it and "not react to the reactions" is a challenge.

    Thanks Dan! Though I believe that safety is only one piece of the puzzle for many people.
    I think for many it's also a spiritual “problem".
    Maybe some people have to really dive deep into their emotions and really Accept and feel them. That's especially helpful when you have CFS in my experience :)

    • @thedancingdivaofdaviestree2320
      @thedancingdivaofdaviestree2320 3 дня назад +2

      Absolutely. Learning to fully feel, process, express and release your emotions is key to healing for everyone. I love somatic tracking for emotions - use it to "empty my stress bucket" daily, as well as ST for sensations. I too had CFS/ME and Fibromyalgia for 54 years - but recovered from ME fully for 6 glorious years, and had minimal pain too by journaling, dancing out emotions, writing stories and sharing them publicly - sharing our stories heals. Then I had a relapse with a ton of inescapable stress - but I've learned about mind/body medicine and this time I plan to recover completely! Best of luck.

    I'm sorry but I'd kill for neck pain! It's no surprise you can get over neck pain. I have chronic gastritis, where every bite of food, sip of a drink, socializing around food, eating out etc. can be and is hell. The pain can be so debilitating that I'm unable to concentrate at work. I've had a long history of pain and it was easy for me to get over joint or back pain, but this is serious pain even with physical evidence. I know, panic and resentment won't make it better but this example just made me even more depressed. Nevertheless I love and appreciate your work, Dan.

    • @1STBUCKLEY
      @1STBUCKLEY 7 дней назад +3

      Because in your brain you've matched change of diet with lesser symptoms. Even if you only lower the response, your gut/brain axis hasn't triggered IE rest n digest or fight and flight. You're doing great 👍

    I feel i've made a lot of progress these two weeks with your videos and with alan Gordon's the way out. I feel like my whole mindset has changed, the weight lifted off of me is huge, now that i know where the sensation is originating from and that there is no damage. But i feel like im a little bit stuck. For context, im a professional pianist and teacher but symptoms show very quickly and easily when playing the piano. I don't know if i have to let the piano go for a whole and slowly easy back into it. I do practice mindfulness everyday now and messages of safety. I felt my pain almost dissapear when i was at a pool, enjoying the sun and breeze, closing my eyes and breathing.

      I developed performance anxiety after Covid, when the brain mistakenly connected a nerve storm with performing. Visualizing doing what I loved calmly and joyously for a few weeks helped hugely. That plus self-hypnosis - which is super-powered visualization with post-hypnotic suggestions like "The minute I hit the stage, I will feel calm and confident, and enjoy myself hugely." It worked! I'm back performing again with only a small manageable amount of anxiety and loving it! Best of luck, everyone here is on the right track! Great video, Dan.

    I have had a lot lot lot of symptoms the last 4 years from post covid . I now know it always was my Brain Tms … and the last 4 months I have been almost symptom free and if i get some symptom Im not scared anymore . But One month ago I stretched my back and went to a Great guy to Check it upp and he helped me to adjust it and so on , he Said its all ok . The Pain went away the whole weekend , but then it came back from nowhere and different pain too.
    Now its worse than before and Ive had it for a month. I know its tsm as all other symtoms. Its just that Im still afraid There is something wrong with my back but in the same time I know its Tms ! I went out partying with my friends this weekend in high heals and the symptoms went away and I forgot about it, but on sunday they came back with full speed … so I know that it is Tms . Why would it otherwise just dissapear and come back… but because its a new symptom and it started when I stretched my back I cant really let go of that something might be wrong. And thats why it wont get away, because of the fear! Its even better when I work out and forget about it a for a moment …. But this is so annoying 😮Im not sure how to convince my self in this situation that its Tms nothings really wrong with my body ….
