I totally agree with you that is the proper way to install carpet. I’ve been stalling for 25 years and I don’t always do it. That way I used the hook I used to straight edge but also I’m only charging five dollars a yard. I’m charging 12 bucks a yard, I do it the proper way
Excellent video and very informative!
Thank you
I have been install for 24yrs my dad has been installing 45yrs and we only seal berber and have never had and issues
Good to hear
I only repair and stretch carpet now but this is what I've been telling all my clients to look out for when they do eventually go to get new carpet! I'm so tired of fixing these bad installs regardless of how much money it makes me, it sucks that people pay for professional installs that aren't professionally done. I even seam seal all the repairs I do, no reason not to do it when installing new carpet!
You said it right there buddy
Ahh Ruben, i have quarter inch plywood in 8 inch sections and use seam boards and 6 inch tape for my installs, i would ask why aren't you using seam boards for your seams like i do sir lol, sorry had to give you a hard time in light of the industry standard video here, you're a great installer dude
the stores i work for dont know these answers lol
Oh, snap
Definitely should be the case at all times
Yes sir
Enjoyed the video by the way Ruben. Always trying to do better. And your videos help.
Man that is so nice to hear people say that. We definitely need more people thinking that way in the industry. It will help everyone as a whole if every individual would try to do better and stop undercutting everybody’s price. There is enough work for everyone.
Retailers as in lowes and homedepo... I've installed for one of them and just don't. But as a consumer I understand why ppl go thru them but then again you get what you pay for. Almost anything that says free this and that is skipping steps.

Unlikely any of the installers in MD will do it correctly so it probably won't get installed here
