Unfortunately, this is not the song that was on the radio or played in the clubs, this is some television appearance promo and sounds like she is singing live to a track.. The song is actually cut off and is missing the climax at the end of the song. So wrong choice of video (too bad). This was a huge club hit.
A great disco song for the dance party would be "More, More, More" by the Andrea True Connection. Just a great tune to get out on the dance floor with.
Like others here are saying, this was Donna's hit disco version of a huge Barry Manilow hit, initially released with his early seventies group Featherbed in 1971 but charting with Manilow's solo version of 1973. Donna was great at doing disco covers of well known, very dramatic songs like this one. Her "MacArthur Park" of 1978 was a cover of an epic 1968 radio hit from Jimmy Webb and Richard Harris that everyone was still familiar with.
It was!! -- But, this was my favorite cut on "A Love Trilogy" album for some reason -- I can't quite figure out how to express what stirred inside of me when first hearing this song, as the feeling never goes away... til' this day🥰
This is not right. This IA a completely different version I know. This was not on the radio (see what I did there) or in the clubs. I've never even seen this video. Weird.
Barry Manilow , had the original cut on this...But he loved Donna's cover of it! So much , he had her come on as a guest performer at one of his concerts they performed it as a duet. The audience loved it they went nuts! And in all his interviews , he had nothing but praise for her cover...The extended version on the album, had a sexy intro ," Prelude to Love"(#1track ) which warmed yah up for "Could This Be Magic" (#2 track) And it did get peeps up on the dance floor!
The Queen of Disco. For anyone who was a young person in the 1970's, Donna Summer was a major turn on. "Love to Love You Baby" and "I Feel Love" especially arousing.
Another sub already mentioned this song was performed and popularized by Barry Manilow! That is an amazing version by him that is beyond profound and meaningful! I like Donna's version too, but not as much! My favorite by Donna is the nearly 20 min version of Mc Arthur Park! Boogie meter 4! See ya!
This I think was the first hit song for Barry Manilow. Maybe it was MANDY. But oh, you can't go wrong when Donna did a cover. What she did on MacArthur Park is still incredible to this day.
Hi Angela 😊👍 Great reaction to Donna Summers cover of the Barry Manilow 1971 version of Could It Be Magic😊👍 I agree with you with the three because of Donna Summer😊👍 Having heard the Barry Manilow version it just doesn't quite match disco as his was more of a romantic tone😊👍 Have a great day and bye for now 😊👍
Where did you learn those moves Day One? Her best and my #1 all time (and I'm extremely critical) Disco song is I Love You by DS. Try that one if you can.
may we all thank the original composer....the one and only Frederik Chopin (Preludes, Opus 28 mvt 23) He composed this music when he was aged 29, I imagine he would have loved Donna Summer, as we all do:)
Three on the Boogie Meter is generous IMHO. Don't get me wrong, it's a good song and she performs it well, but as an inspiration to get onto the dance floor it's kind of lacking.
Well considering it is a cover of Barry Manilow's much slower version, it makes sense you would feel that way. Much different vibe - not really a disco made song. hehe
If you judging the song on this video, I agree with you. But the reality is, this is not what was on the radio, or in the clubs. If you listen the the original radio edit, your opinion would most probably change. Barry's slowed down version (that one is not the original either) was #6 on the pop charts, Donna's disco version was #3 on the Dance charts. This is not a good representation of that track.
@@jbjacobs9514 Umm... in the disco clubs, there always came a point in the night where the DJ slowed things down -- with songs like this -- before revving things back up!! This song was perfect for that! I thought it was a standout on her gr8 "A Love Trilogy" album, her best work in IMHOIt was gr8 for takin' chicks to bed once you left the disco, while cheap, sexy incense filled the air and you and your partner were still lit from whatever you ingested at the Disco. 🤣😂
I prefer the term, "sensual" -- and this song definitely added sensuality to Manilow's original version -- which IMHO took the song to an entirely higher level of feeling, cuz you felt it physically now... kind of like what she did with McArthur Park :)
Angela,I HAVE YOU by Karen Carpenter please!!!!this is my mother's fav.song and she is celebrating her birthday today, can you pleasenplay it with her as a gift?
Gerlie....so glad you mentioned Karen and that song...these reactors do so lil of her ..some of her most beautiful songs weren't released as singles because there were so many. Saw her in 74! Her music saved my life as a kid from an abusive father
@@michaelasay8587 This is one of my fav.songs of Karen too,i'm only 23yo but Karen is my lady...not ashame to say that she's my ultimate crush as well...little bit boyish just for her...hoped Angela read this msg.of mine .
This song was for takin' chicks to bed... but more like slow dancin' for the dance floor?! 🤔 -- But I utterly loved it!! This and McArthur Park were her best work IMHO. :) Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of "Looking for Mr. Goodbar," a powerful 1977 film.
She is one of my favorite singers. Instant goosebumps!! 😅
Donna's voice was absolutely beautiful. Effortless execution. Great cover of Barry Manilow. She made it her own. I love the song.
So much better than Céline Dion 😊
Continue to R.I.P Queen of Disco ❤
This was a legitimate hit by Donna, as I heard it on the radio as a kid.
Donna was Queen in the late 70s both musically & looks
Donna was DISCO.
Unfortunately, this is not the song that was on the radio or played in the clubs, this is some television appearance promo and sounds like she is singing live to a track.. The song is actually cut off and is missing the climax at the end of the song. So wrong choice of video (too bad). This was a huge club hit.
Oh they played it in the gay discos I went to!!
Barry Manilow
I never knew Donna sang a disco version of this! I always loved Barry Manilows, But I love this too!
I only remember the Barry Manilow version.
Donna Summer's 'I feel love' would be high on dance meter. But so would several other of her other songs from that era.
Great song by Barry Manilow with quite a few cover versions. This is a good one-Colin Ward
Live vocal over a recorded track. beautiful full bodied voice. Love Donna Summer.
Great cover.
A great disco song for the dance party would be "More, More, More" by the Andrea True Connection. Just a great tune to get out on the dance floor with.
You should have reacted to the album version. Her vocals on this version sounds different.

thanks for the history lesson!!
I had such a crush on Donna in the 70's 😅😊 BEAUTIFUL 😍
this was a huge hit for Barry Manilow in 1973 and then 75
Barry took it to #6 on the pop chart. Donna took it to #3 on the dance chart.
Donna and the Bee Gees ruled peak disco. Endless hits. Barry Manilow did the original on this in his style.
Me favorite disco record of 1976 was "You Should Be Dancin" -- that and Andrea True Connection's classic "More, More, More"
If you have the patience for 19 Mins, "TRY ME (I know we can make it)" was Donna's masterpiece in the clubs.
It was!! -- But, this was my favorite cut on "A Love Trilogy" album for some reason -- I can't quite figure out how to express what stirred inside of me when first hearing this song, as the feeling never goes away... til' this day🥰

I heard this on the radio what planet your on
I recently drove to her house in Nashville and to her grave nearby.

What an excellent choice, particularly when you DJ-ed in 77-78! I think Barry Manilow wrote it, Donna "the Queen of Disco" perfected it!
Not one of my favorite Donna songs BUT.... how I love Donna Summer.❤
The Queen of Disco. For anyone who was a young person in the 1970's, Donna Summer was a major turn on. "Love to Love You Baby" and "I Feel Love" especially arousing.
I loved how refreshing "Spring Affair" sounded as a follow-up hit to those wonderful songs as well!! IMHO :)
Never heard anyone but Barry Manilow sing this...
Joseph....well you must not know her music...I find that strange 😢
Take that a UK boyband did a version as well
Live!!!!
Another sub already mentioned this song was performed and popularized by Barry Manilow! That is an amazing version by him that is beyond profound and meaningful! I like Donna's version too, but not as much!

Mandy came out first.
This is a cover of a Barry Manilow song
I love Donna but this is Barry's song
This was a FRE cover of a Barry Manilow song. His original version is a great ballad.
I love Donna Summer but this is a Barry Manilow song which he sings it great, I never knew Donna sang this and it’s not a song that she should sing
Great Reaction Angela, BTW...I like the "Avengers" T-Shirt, I have that T-Shirt.....Cool Man 😎

Donna Summer was an amazing talent but... The Manilow original is epic.
@@caryriggs5719 😏... 😅🤣😂
I so disagree! My favorite Donna Summer song
Where did you learn those moves Day One? Her best and my #1 all time (and I'm extremely critical) Disco song is I Love You by DS. Try that one if you can.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😃
This is a Barry Manilow song. Gotta do "Last Dance" and "Hot Stuff" by Donna.
may we all thank the original composer....the one and only Frederik Chopin (Preludes, Opus 28 mvt 23) He composed this music when he was aged 29, I imagine he would have loved Donna Summer, as we all do:)
This was written by -- and a big hit for -- Barry Manilow too. Listen to it a few items, including the Manilow version.
They made a live Manilow concert duet in late 90's. Incredible 😊
Three on the Boogie Meter is generous IMHO. Don't get me wrong, it's a good song and she performs it well, but as an inspiration to get onto the dance floor it's kind of lacking.

70s disco.
Isn't this a Barry Manilow song?? Donna still Disco Queen! Barry version romantic and powerful.
Love your reactions. Loved Donna. Having survived the 70s though I can't say the same for disco. Egads
had forgotten about this cover. But, while I liked Donna Summer, I was never a disco fan.
This is a very weird version of Barry Manilow's classic. It is a song about sex to begin with, and lord knows Donna sexes it up even more!
I prefer the term, "sensual" -- and this song definitely added sensuality to Manilow's original version -- which IMHO took the song to an entirely higher level of feeling, cuz you felt it physically now... kind of like what she did with McArthur Park :)
Weird?
No, this is the version of this song period.🎉
Hot Stuff or Bad Girls are better dance songs. Love to Love You Baby is her best dance song but you have already reviewed it.
Angela,I HAVE YOU by Karen Carpenter please!!!!this is my mother's fav.song and she is celebrating her birthday today, can you pleasenplay it with her as a gift?

OMG! -- Karen Carpenter had the quintessential voice of "an angel" 😇
love her- but please listen to the original by Barry Manilow- NO comparison
😉😂🤣Even Barry Manilow himself said that he liked her version better!! -- But Ok?! =
Boogie Meter is under 1 Donner Summer is a great singer but this ....😮

Its not the best version you heard
I love Donna and she did some amazing songs. I have not heard this before. I think she should have left this one to Barry Manilow. I'd rate this a 2.
Even Take That’s version is better than this but personally I prefer the Manilow version. 1 from me.
