While many may attribute Scriabin and the likes of other late romanticists as a main influence on the early outputs of Szymanowski, I think Chopin is also very evident here as well (e.g. Var 2 and 4). @@SCRIABINIST beat me to it lol...like OF COURSE he would write things similar to Szymanowski if he lived in such an era where such advancing music was prevalent, but he died WAY too soon for any of that to even happen.
