This blessed my socks off, Jill. I know all this, I know all of it, but I’d lost my way recently, and I thank you for the reminder to pursue peace. I was beginning to walk down the path of hopelessness, thinking it really doesn’t matter, lighting a candle and reading a book and eating at the table and opening up the harvest pumpkins. Our kids graduated from our homeschool, and I’ve been lost without that purpose. But you’re right, it matters a whole lot that we gals pursue peace - even in my mostly-empty-nest home. Even if they’re not with me, they can know that out there, where they’re welcome, there is a peaceful mama loving their daddy, keeping up with a peaceful homestead for any who enter its gates.

Its a great reminder to make yr spouse a 1st priority. Tomorrow is NOT promised. My husband passed after 17 yrs of marriage. During our "baby" of family Senior year. Let me tell you, that was the hardest thing ever to mourn & still have all the activities of senior yr & still have to work. Now yr a widow that doesnt get any support from SS. Unless you dont work. 3 yrs later. Its still hard.
@ninap1076 Thank you. But God has my back! Was injured in Jan at work. Had surgery & now I get the chance to plan activities for Memory care instead of being the CNA. BTW very backtracking literally career. It gave me much needed time off.

How I wish I could have heard someone talk like you do when I was a young momma…..I’m 75 now…..but had I heard someone like you talking when I was at your age….wow, what a difference that would have made for me and my life and my family…..I’m so thankful you’re here for other young moms…..please keep being you…..you’re amazing!!!!! ❤️🤢❤❤❤
Hi Debi- I'm about your age and was drawn to the-back-to-the-land movement in the 70's. I share your wish that something like youtube could have brought this knowledge to my friends and I back then. If we could have helped one another to learn and hang on and not feel so alone, I have no doubt many more would have made a go of it back then. Blessings, Joy
I have a baby about the same age as Jill's and I wear him while I'm cooking all the time. Whenever my Mom comes over and sees the situation she always gets so nervous. You're not the only one!
I highly recommend Gloria Furman and Sally Clarkson books. They have really helped me in my homemaking journey as well as the Christian homemakers hand guide book. I like to use them as a devotional along side my Bible reading. 🥰

My favorite marriage advice is: 1. In our pride, we often insist on being right instead of combining perspectives with our spouse to solve a problem. Remember, maintaining a strong relationship is more important than merely proving yourself right. 2. The biggest misconception about communication is believing it has taken place!

While all pumpkins are edible, some aren't that great tasting. Look for pie or sugar pie pumpkins. They are usually pretty little compared to carving ones.

Most store bought pumpkin puree is made with other goards and not actual pumpkin 😅

I love freeze drying my pumpkin then powder it since you can't can pumpkin puree. Then I can add it to many recipes.
