Beautiful video Jill. For 23 years my tree and house have been full of handmade decorations and collected ornaments. It is not pinterest style but homespun style. Even though I have young adults and teens now we still bring out all of those precious decorations made by their hands. Looking forward to doing the same with my grandchildren. It was hard at first not to move ornaments when there are 5 on one branch, :) but even that is a memory to be cherished!
A lot of people can't understand celebrating "Jesus's" birthday, but there is something that goes deep in our hearts of the special memories created! One of my desires to have children was to let them experience the joy of Christ--mas!
I'm in my 70s. I was raised in a very poor household, and am 2nd of 9 kids. We were POOR in stuff, but rich in faith and spirit. My Dad was a minister for many decades, passing away 1 year ago, at age 94. My Mom passed away 2-1/2 years ago. My Mom always made a Happy Birthday, Jesus!! birthday cake. We couldnt really afford gifts at all, but each of us kids did get a pair of underwear and a pair of socks, along with one orange, and one walnut. My Dad bought a 2x2x8 piece of lumber, and cut it into blocks, so we would have 'building blocks' to play with. We made stringed popcorn, to decorate our home grown tree. ,Great family memories. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Loved this video so warming!! Love that my son loves to decorate the tree and drives me crazy to do so. Just something about having those memories together and have nice memories as lil kid myself. Your daughters have gotten so big and tall!!! Amazing how fast they grow
I remember helping my mom untangle lights one year, only to find many burnt out. I think my mother may have sworn(a rarity to today). I don't remember what we did after, but It stuck with me as a family togetherness memory, one of the few memories of my childhood that I can remember. It made me happy, because even though it wasn't ideal, we were together and I was loved and that's what mattered.
Yes savor every moment. It goes by so fast. I love the pictures of the tree with the ornaments on the tree at the bottom because they were so little and that’s as far as they could reach. Our kids are grown and we have great grandchildren now. I still love the holidays because we now have 16 grandchildren grown and 3 great grand babies but still miss those early times.
