    Cucumber Lemonade:
2 cups cucumber juice (freezing in 2 cup portions makes this easy)
    2 cups water
    3/4 cup lemon juice
    3/4 cup sugar
Garnish with a fresh basil leaf (optional, of course)
Pour over ice for instant summer in a cup 🤗

Thank you for the pep talk today. I think that the flack people give are because they're afraid of "failure." Something I learned a while ago, I learned from Adam Savage and the Mythbusters. "Failure is always an option." Over the years that has morphed into "Failure is just another word for iteration. If something doesn't work, we learn and try again. I actually learn more from not really succeeding than I do from success. ALWAYS BE OPEN TO LEARNING.

  • @kmarshall53

“Failure is just a steppingstone to success” - so TRUE!
I realized that this year I started waaay too many seedlings of a lot of things. I’ve pulled out several things because I needed the room for something else and I knew I wouldn’t use the plant. I also found out that tomatoes need a LOT more room than I realized. So it’s always a learning experiment. I’ll do better next year, for sure. Yes, I kind of felt bad about “wasting” food and not being aware of what I didn’t know. It’s okay. I’m learning. Thanks for the message, Jill! I appreciate your clarity and honesty.

Long time gardener here and my experience in situations like that is that ripping out the plant doesn’t always solve the issues. Usually they will persist throughout the season. If I were growing to sell, I would just step up my control methods to get the most off that crop and prevent the problem from spreading. Then make a note to not grow that crop again or if I decide to grow it again, locate it in a spot where the chances of any problems spreading would be less. I always “trial” new varieties in a separate garden from my main garden just to prevent this situation. During the off season is the time to address your pest issues by working beds and looking for larva that are over wintering, adding a biodiverse compost and letting the soil rest while keeping it covered.

People get so discouraged in gardening so quickly without realizing how many variables go into it, a lot of them out of their control. After meeting you though it was brief, you struck me as a person who does what's best for you and your family. I totally agree with ripping those cucumbers out. Building soil health is way more important than what money you might have made off of those cucumbers. Because the amount of money you would have had to spend on getting your soil back healthy not to mention the time and effort. I say kudos to you for making a smart decision!! I would like to ask if you have ever grown the Mercury cucumber?? It is prolific as well but mine are close together and they are rocking it with no pest or disease.
