- Firstly can i just say i am so sorry for not uploading for a month! However i did take a long time on this edit because i wanted to make sure it's perfect.
Like i said at the end of the video, this edit really does mean a lot to me. I am very self conscious and don't like the way i look,so i wanted to show how i feel through an edit!

first of all, im so sorry you guys feel this way. back when i made this comment i was feeling terrible about my acne and body. and i wanted to share how i started feeling better. i thought to myself that i would rather be happy than pretty. i am not my body. literally. this body is like a case for your phone. you dont pay THAT much attention to a phone case rather than to the actual phone. whats inside is what matters. our society conditioned us all to think that if we dont fit their impossible beauty standard, we are unworthy of love. and that is so not true. this is all a tactic to get us to buy their stupid weightloss/skin clearing products. and i told myself that i will never buy into it. i learned that we are all unique and beautiful. the fact that you fit the beauty standards is not what makes you beautiful. the way your nose doesnt look like everyone else's makes you beautiful. the fact that your body is not the same as everyone's body makes it beautiful. we are all different and that is what it was supposed to be like. also, if you dont like the fact that you are bigger than others, remeber that Aphrodite, the Goddess of Beauty had tummy rolls!! At the moment I'm at a point where I don't wanna go outside bc I think everyone is staring at me bc of my ugliness. Let’s stop calling girls pretty. Let’s instead say: “You are so smart” “You are so funny” “You have a great personality” “You are so talented” or even “I just enjoy being around you”. Let’s encourage girls to love themselves no matter how they look. Not by telling them they look pretty, but by showing them that there is so much more to love than just their physical appearance. We are people, not a picture, there is so much more than what meets the eye. And sometimes we just need to be reminded of that.

It's Gadfly You are entitled to your opinion, but I’m truly not being “disingenuous”. I’m merely encouraging people to compliment one another because I believe that little bit of kindness goes a long way. I was talking to a boy for a significant portion of my junior year and I had shared my art, hobbies, and dreams with him. I even invited him to my house to play mario kart because he said he liked the game. He told me about his family life and how he wanted to be in the navy and I told him he had beautiful eyes and I thought we were becoming friends. I was sitting near him during lunch but at a different table and he was calling my name. His friends are all annoying teenaged boys and I thought he was different from them but I heard him start to talk about the different girls sitting outside enjoying their days. They made gagging noises at the "ugly" girls and hooted and praised the "pretty" I was fucking disgusted man. Like, none of those disgusting atrocious beasts deserve any of the wonderful girls they pointed out who didn't even know they were being talked about. The worst part is when I heard my crush call my name and I was too scared to face him and his friends because they would all be looking at me knowing I'm ugly. So I didn't turn around and he thought I couldn't hear him calling my name, so he started talking about me. He said "i hate to be honest, but she's really fat." I started crying so hard when I heard that because he had been the only boy who had shown interest in me throughout high school and I had let him in so easily and I thought he was different and he turned out to be the one fueling my insecurities. Later, he spoke to me like he hadn't said those disgusting things and it seems stupid to have a boys words mean so much to me but I feel betrayed and humiliated right now

I once was a girl dreaming about a prince on a white horse, coming to rescue me. My whole life I was lonely, had only few friends. I was the weird one, reading too much, "talking like an adult", not pretty enough to be popular and not ugly enough to get talked about. It was like being invisible until they started to harass me, trying to break my will and to break my belief in myself. At one point I thought they succeeded. I hit rock-bottom and was completely alone. And that was when I decided that this is going to end and that I will be the one to decide who I am. I climbed out of that hole, began with not giving a shit about the people at my school. Everything changed. Even my dream. Because I finally took myself what I wanted to have and there were so many who liked my new self, who liked me for me. I'm almost 21 now and I would lie when I said that I'm over my past and that it doesn't bother me anymore. But I'm not alone anymore and I know that I can fight anyone who tries to break me again.

Lol... the only persons that ever called me pretty once are my parents and that’s bc I asked them how I look like.
this was so so so so beautiful, i really needed it. a guy recently just told me how much prettier my best friend was than me and that “yeah you’re a 8 but she’ll always be a 10” and the sad thing was... he wasn’t even saying it to be mean he was simply telling the truth and i’m not saying that to sound insecure you could just tell by his tone. he’s said it before and it hurt but for him to say it to my face was.... god, i wanted to not let it get to me and i wanted to pretend everything was ok but who wouldn’t be hurt after hearing someone say that? my friend is pretty and skinny and funny.. i believe i’m all those things but she is by more so none of my qualities matter when i’m with her. it’s gotten so bad to where i want her to be hurt.. i want her to be more insecure than she already is which i hate i hate it, why should she be kicked down just because she’s better than me. i constantly compare myself to her whenever i’m around her.. my homecoming is coming up and i literally don’t want her to go just because i know she’ll look 50 times better than me and since we’ll be standing with eachother ,no one will see me because again.. who am i when she’s around. probably no one read this but i’m saying all this because i have no where else to put my thoughts

This happened to me when I was walking around the mall with my cousin. We we're talking to this one salesperson guy and idk what pushed him to suddenly blurt out oh, she's prettier (looks at cousin). It didn't help that I grew up with her until I was 13 and I am aware of how others gush about how pretty she was and have been asked by some guys for her name/number. I always feel like when they tell me 'you're pretty too' it's because they pity forgetting about me lmao. And now every once in a while insecurity would hit me like a ton of bricks especially around pretty friends when I sense other people looking our way. It happens too when I watch movies or read books about pretty girls that people want to be around. It's so hard to tame that insecurity when the world we all live in values physical beauty so much.
Fuck. This sounds a lot like the situation with my friend and she admitted to me awhile ago how insecure she was but she knows how better she is compared to me you can just tell.

I feel so sorry for people who think like this. You all should know that no one is really 'ugly' and beauty is subjective; it's all in your head. I don't want to say that beauty and appearance doesn't matter, because fashion, hair, and makeup are some of the biggest passions in my life, but you should know that when you communicate and/or have some kind of relationship with someone, how you look isn't all they care about. Plus, you should learn to love yourself no matter what anyone else thinks. Honestly, I can't remember the last time someone called me pretty, and I know that I don't look like a perfect Instagram model, but I still love myself anyway. And you should love yourself too.

But if I say that they’ll only think I want them to tell me how beautiful I am. They just don’t get it. I hate talking about how I look and I hate it when people compliment me. My dad tells me I'm pretty all the time and I usually just roll my eyes but when I was home for Christmas he actually told me that he was proud of me and I legitimately started crying. Being praised for my achievements rather than looks means so much more to me. ❤️
I don’t know why but I really hate it when people compliment me on my appearance. Yeah I know that they’re trying to be nice it’s just that I don’t feel like I deserve the compliment. The worse thing is that you can’t even bring up your insecurities without “fishing for compliments”. There are people that are constantly saying “Oh I wish I had your body you’re so skinny, I love your eyes, I wish I had your features” but it’s like boi I don’t feel that way about me you’re way better looking and a lot more like able I’d gladly switch with them. I feel like I’m never good enough, not even good enough for myself.
