You handled the situation perfectly fine to me. She's only looking for the cheapest solution and unfortunately she'll end up getting less than quality work. Some teenager most likely isn't going to provide the level of detail you consistently provide your customers. It's her loss but you don't need to have a wishy-washy client like that.

I had my own irrigation business up here in MA. People up here suck! Especially the millennials and younger. When i first started i would do like you did and give multiple chances. But towards the end if someone even questioned a price i quoted them i would be gone and never answer them again. I finally got so sick of dealing with customers that i sold my business.

@@BigSouthOutdoorsTV to add to that a little more. Cant tell you the amount of times they went with the cheaper guy and called me begging to fix the “cheaper” guys work for them. Trust me i know what youre dealing with.
@Peter-st9ru I've have the same thing happen to me many times.
When I run across the (I can get it cheaper here or there) .I say by all means go there and get it. I am not giving away my time for free. I volunteer time that's not work related but that's it. Hope she enjoys her $10 mowing job, I wouldn't load my tools for that.

I've had a couple customers..you know the type..they want to keep adding more to the job without an increase in price..can't do it
Yeah, I know that type. It's always "while you're here, can you do this, or that"? By the end of course, what is normally a 1.5 hour job turns into a 3+ hours job. I've even had a few in the past that wanted us to stay for several hours. I finally told one lady she needed a gardener, not a lawn care company. It's ridiculous what certain people expect and don't want to pay more for the extra time.
I'M not in the lawn care business but those type of customers are the kind you don't need. Just move on.

Our economy has never been stronger .she is on a fixed income and cheap but has no loyalty so what happens when the kid s mower breaks
We can agree to DISAGREE on the state of the economy. This lady is NOT on a "fixed" income. She is gainfully employed and works every day. If she hadn't done this 3 different times, I would be inclined to agree with you. Bottom line, She's CHEAP!
