    Yesss, Haxo Gambit. I play this with white I'm 1350 and I get that exact sequence of moves that you showed consistently. If the king goes back to e1, you can throw in Qh5+ to induce the weakening move g6 before taking the bishop. 👍

    I already knew these tips by myself because I have a ton of experience with openings, I totally agree with you and this is a great educational video.
    Sometimes I reinvent the wheel, but I never do it during games only in my studies and with the engine analysis, like for example I have some lines that have never been played before in the London, saving them for tournament OTB games (hopefully my future opponents don't read my comment 😂)

    I am not sure about the decimal point stuff. Some of the lines I play today are lines that back in the stockfish 9/10 used to give small advantages but now with modern stockfish are not even top lines any more. I am not changing my lines based on a minimal engine fluctuation.

    6:26 funny, I play this exact line with black. I go for 8...Ng4?, which is the only full on trick in my opening repertoire. Of course I generally don't like moves like this and I've looked at 8...d6 too, but the 70+% win rate speaks for itself.

    Hi Jack, great video! I was wondering, as someone who is approaching 2400 in rapid, do you see yourself moving to blitz soon? There must be so few players in the pool and so many cheaters at that level...

    • @jacksarkisian
      @jacksarkisian  3 дня назад +1

      probably not, i don't really like Blitz nor am i naturally fast. i'm trying to play more OTB which is what i'm investing most of my time into - i probably do more studying than i do playing games atm.

    yeah what the hell was that first scotch gambit? you have to show all the moves man

    • @jacksarkisian
      @jacksarkisian  3 дня назад +5

      its called the Haxo Gambit in the Scotch Gambit. the theory isn't really important though, just highlighting that if you closely follow theory you'll get deliberate advantages. but if you play systematic openings you don't get these same consistent opportunities.

      It's killer. I play the Haxo Gambit, and I get crushing attacks all the time. You don't have to be lucky to execute the trap, Ive had the exact sequence he showed in at least 10 of my last 100 games.

    10:40 blackmar diemar gambit is in this list right?

    • @jacksarkisian
      @jacksarkisian  3 дня назад +1

      generally this would be my rule of thumb
      with white: any gambit that is worse than -0.5 shouldn't be played
      with black: any gambit that is worse than +0.8 shouldn't be played
      of course its all up to you but those would be my recommendations. if you are going to go for something with a bad evaluation make sure its extremely niche so your opponent won't know the theory.

    I know I'm only 1600, but I don't think not using openings of your own style against much higher-rated players is beneficial. In a way you hinder your own opening development by defaulting to simpler openings against them. The example you mentioned describes me perfectly: I play the Sicilian, and there is no way I would default to a Caro just because my opponent is let's say 2100. (Also, I don't think checking you opponent's rating is beneficial for most players, I for one usually only check before the end of my games when the oppoment might offer a draw or when I might get into a time scramble.) Otherwise great vid, I'm glad I found this channel!

    I follow this principle in chess.
    -- Develop pieces to best places when opponent waste tempo .
    I mostly wins a pawn or a piece till Endgame come.
    My rapid chess rating is 1900 .

    Checking miss & accuracies leads to boring and chess engine type of games.
    Check only for blunders & mistakes.
