Ultimately, it mostly came down to how far away the characters could be while still activating the bomb.
or they could have a good recovery

Here's a real question, do you consider the ones that didn't make it but had enough air time for the platforms to respawn successes or failures?
@@lisamariefan Because of the way the title is worded I have to consider them successes. If the title was "Who is fast enough to make the Bomb Run" then I would consider them failures cause they didn't use speed, they used floating. But, if that was the title, you'd also have to retest any character that used a projectile to hit the bomb, and I don't think anyone wants to put the effort in for that.

bayonetta might still be possible, you can cancel the up B at the apex with an arial(i think up air is fastest) for more horizontical distance
I wonder if @Bladeplays would be able to get Bayo to make it.

I didn't expect everyone to be setting off their own bomb. Guarantees characters with only melee moves basically have no shot unless they can fly. But it makes it interesting. Would be fun to see them start at the second block and start running when another character set it off too
Lil mac out runs it other wise
Fox managed to make it though without a projectile. No extra jumps like Jigglypuff either.

To pass this a character needs range, speed, or recovery
I was 99% expecting Steve to blow it up and then just use blocks and build his way all the way over there.
an alternate option would've been to just use the elytra all the way

It was kinda cute that pyra and mythra could only make it by working together
At 7:09 Pyra shielded for a moment, I think she could make it, but I'm not main Pyra so idk for sure
@gerardogzz5860 i think that was to cancel the animation of her getting her sword back, she likely would've been slower had she not shielded
Pyra alone would have made it if Prominence Revolt hadn't been used so early. Her going completely above the platform shows how much time could have still been spent drifting.

Sonic is the only one I actually saw run across the whole thing after setting off the bomb. Everybody else cheated in my eyes lol
Do you consider Zoom cheating too ?
If yes, then I think hero might be able to do it legit, by jumping offstage and then double jumping back onstage while doing an aerial to set off the explosive, then land and run.
If only projectiles are the problem, then a huge hitbox like magic busts could give him enough time to run after the endlag.
Jiggs and Yoshi might be able to roll if they start it very high up on top ,
Junior , wario and Steve might drive their kart/bike/minecart all the way

Mostly, though, my comment was just subtly pointing out that the thumbnail led me to believe the test was way different than it was lol
Once I saw the way they were determining who passed it made sense.

wouldn't that kinda defeat the point though? if it was just about running faster than the bomb blocks exploding it'd just be a numbers game, which wouldn't make a very good video. Characters needing to use their whole kit to do it is what makes the video interesting. It's not the same to see everyone do the same thing but worse than Sonic.
I'm confused by the order of the characters, usually, in challenge videos, it's in the order of the roster

I think it's because you have to watch the video for a longer period of time as you can't approximately skip to the number of your favorite character since it's in random order.
So it's good for his watch time

ROB and snake could have flown too
All the "just detonate it with a projectile and bypass half the run" kind of feels like cheating. Especially the ones that can just remote detonate something, like Snake and Link.
Considering how loose the rules are here, I bet a lot more short ranged fighters would have survived if they recovered towards the bomb block instead of the green platform since it's closer and respawns first.
It wasn't expressly said that landing back on the reappearing blocks was a success.
I believe everytime it happened they did not finish the run by running the character to the green platform, as though it was a failed attempt.
Considering that Joker was recovering away from the blocks it seems that that would have been a fail.@@WesleyFiles
I can say that Wario knows not to be a "Cheater." While like half of the characters do attentively cheat.
1:40 he is GOIN, gosh I love that goofy ahh run, but the fact that Dr.mario made it but zero suit Samus didn’t baffles me
Does Corrin's Dragon Fang Shot not destroy the bomb?
I was so disappointed seeing them do everyone else's charge shot but then make Corrin do the lunge. Must've had a brain error or something on that take. 😴
Kirby is def possible if the bridge didnt rebuild, just airdodge and up low

i’m a bit iffy about shulk, wouldn’t running short hop nair with speed monado allow to get a running start by nairing while moving forward then change to jump when needed.
all the characters: *run in a straight line or jump / jump using abilities*

Crazy how falcon and mac failed. But unlike most challenges of this nature there wasn't a fuse to allow for recovery time
what about Shulk's "speed"?
Doesn't matter cause he's setting off his own explosion. He doesnt have an attack that he can set off the explosions and still get away after. Might get him a bit more horizontal movement, but speed nerfs his jump, so he'd never make it back up after he starts to fall

I bet they tested it, but I still feel like Shulk with the speed Art could have used down tilt and then ran like Sonic

i think it’s more than just speed, i can’t think of a move that can set it off with enough space and lack of end lag to use the blocks to run on.

Falcon probably has the run speed for it but he doesn't have a good way to trigger the bomb.
Perhaps a Falcon Kick while barely on the bomb block, but I get the feel the recovery would fuck him over regardless

I think Kazuya can make it easier if he does that crouch dash thing Riddles does.
I feel like this ruleset was very inconsistent and should be redone, not to be like "that guy" but all the Melee Characters stood no chance because you were allowed to start it from basically wherever you could reach it, which gave certain characters a distinct advantage. To change this I think they should have to start from a set distance but can reach the end from using moves and running, if they drop from the block, then they should be out unless the up B allows them to reach it while falling
Plus, since the rules were so loose, a lot of them could have survived if they recovered towards the bomb block instead since it respawns pretty quickly.
I feel like shulk could've made it if he used manado speed.

huh i thought little mac, the base games 3rd fastes runner would make it, he can certainly out run the explosion. Although I guess the attack lag to activate the bomb may be too much since he has to be close to activate it.
the other 2 fastest character in run speed are captain falcon and sonic by the way.
Edit... i forgot about speed shulk and shulk kirby actually. edit 2, and accelerate hero.
So what I have gathered from this, you have a 96% chance to make it with a projectile

can't Captain Falcon detonate the bomb with a falcon kick and then continue running?
Perhaps doing a Falcon Kick to the right while barely above the bomb block, but I get the feeling that it won't recover fast enough
The fact that inkling made it before 50% of the path was gone makes me strangely proud that i chose Splatoon as my hyperfixation
