I mean they are actually responsible for these 90% of races being boring. Almost everyone is saving tires for the whole race and then charging off in the last few laps. Daniel Ricciardo outplayed McLaren in this game today.

And with the help of Verstappen's racing engineer, who called him to pit stop in the penultimate lap, instead of leaving him on the track. It was Verstappen's victory if Red Bull didn't screw up their strategy.

@@anurag2009 is would say it was the teams' fault as they were the ones who rejected 2020 tyres. Remember these are the 2019 tyres which are just unable to keep up with the massive gains of Mercedes this year

There are so many small turn that burn that tyre when the car passed it with high speed

unlike 2005 where they said they would punish teams who put ANY drivers at risk with poor tyre strategies to gain championship points/cash. Remember Kimi's flat spot suspension failure at nurburgring then backing that up at Indianapolis by not trusting teams to comply with commonsense tyre safety. where have we progressed in 15 years? devolution until death

That comparison is irrelevant, when you have a big time lead an incident like this a few corners before the checkered flag doesn't make a difference.
Don’t let people you that he “managed his tires better.” Thats bs. Bottas was 2 seconds behind and lost his tires literally a few moments before Lewis. This was PURE luck. It’s true that you have to be good to be lucky and lucky to be good, but at the same time, I can’t help but notice Hamilton has been the luckiest driver I’ve ever seen. He won the title in 2008 because Glock handed it to him on a silver platter. He chose Mercedes the year before they turned into the best team by pure fluke....just like the stock market, it’s a lie to say that people know what’s going to happen in the future. No one knew Merc would be like this and Hamilton got lucky. Guys like Alonso and Massa have been tremendously unlucky throughout their careers. Hamilton is the polar opposite.

Apart from Lewis's drive, can we all appreciate the splendid overtaking of Gasly who took that AlphaTauri to 7th place, the great drive of Ricardo who took that Renault to fourth place, the beautiful teamwork of Carlos and Lando to keep those midfield cars at bay, and the superb start of Leclerc.
At this point apart from a failure of the car or as today, tire for Merc...it's all about the ever expanding and competitive midfield.

The image at 6:26 is so iconic and defining of this time in F1. Mercedes/Louis domination - winning the race with a blown tire due to being 30+ seconds in the lead. A smoking Merc way ahead on the straight with a perfectly functioning Red Bull not able to catch it. It's annoying to watch sometimes now but looking back on this era of Merc domination will be amazing.

Akmal Ibrahim I watched the first 10 laps woke awake. Then napped laps 11- 47 only to be woken up by the commentator and my mom who was watching. Once Valterri tyre popped I got excited and then my satellite lost connection.😤 Was so mad because everything was starting to unfold and just had breakfast. It connected back when they were giving trophies and I was so disappointed that Valterri somehow managed only 11 while Lewis got 1st. Champion hopes gone in the blink of an eye 😪.
