I have a 2018 Civic Type R and cannot get the third clip off, this is bullshit, nor do I know if I can even find it when we initially tried to take the clip off the black side swivle thingamig started to come off to. So we put it back on. I'm going to Midas because this install this. This is harder than my injen air intake installation. Please help!!! the 85$ is not worth the installation fee!!
I know I’m later but there’s a little silver ring that pops out, it goes around the white teeth on the motor, this is crucial cause it’s what grabs the mirror to move it make sure the ring stays on the teeth
This video is fine except for one thing, which might be the most important. I have no idea why they say to take the rods off the mirror and put them back into the assembly. That is definitely not the best way and really the opposite of what you want to do. Leave the rods on the mirror when reinstalling. That’s the only way I could make it work. Honestly, this video cost me an extra 10 minutes having to redo that step on the drivers side. And there isn’t a third clip. It is two clips and then use the non-marring pry tool to pull off the rest of the housing. So they sort of show you how to do it but definitely could have done better. Haven’t looked to see if there is a better video out there but this one is misleading on two of the crucial elements of this rather simple install.
interesting. A few videos suggested putting in the rods back into the housing rather than leaving it in the mirror. Was your mirror fully working after just doing it your way?
I agree. I just put these caps (and Spoon mirrors) on yesterday. I hadn't seen your comment, so I did exactly what the video said. I took the rods off the mirror, and put them back on the housing and pushed them all the way in. When I did that, they wouldn't grab the mirror when I put the mirror back on. I even tried pulling the rods out until they were only in a click or two, hoping they could grab. That didn't work either. Then I saw your comment and tried it, and this is the way to do it. I probably spent 20 extra minutes trying it different ways until finding this comment. Thanks for the tip, you saved me from thinking I was doing it wrong!
Actually update, I've done this install and the reason why they said to put the rods back into the housing first is to prevent the rods from bending the retainer clips out of place and possibly breaking them or the spring.
@@KingTorn I didn't and I was okay, but I also didn't remove the wires from the back of the mirrors. I felt like I was going to break them, so I just propped the mirror up while leaving the wires connected.
It’s a shame that you didn’t focus on how to best mate the small hidden *side* clip for proper alignment since that seems to be giving most people the most grief.
please, don’t try this once you mess up the little plastic nipples inside of mirror then you have to replace the whole things which cost $ 1,600 including labor charge at Honda dealershop.
This item is a peace of shit. Don’t waist your money or time on pro design items. They suck and they don’t test there parts out before they send them out. Thinking they are going to work The carbon mirror cap. Doesn’t even fit
This cover fitment is so so. Best to take the entire assembly off. It's not a simple install. It's one of those Pain in the A@% installs that looks easy but it's not.

But this didn't cover how difficult those clips are to get out, and a proper way to remove the side clips so that they don't snap off
I cant get thqt third clip... any tips?
Just subscribed! Helped me remove the grille & bumper to replace the AC Condenser. Rudy is a civic saint!
I'm glad to hear it helped you out! I'll make sure Rudy sees this comment as well.
Your car wasn't under warranty lol?

Know if the 22 civic is the same?
If I have an si 2018 that doesn’t have heating mirrors. Is this the only way to get to the clips and undo them??
The process would remain the same if they are or are not heated mirrors.
these look badass 😮👍
hi i have honda civic 2017, is it ok to manually fold/unfold the side mirror? thank you
As long it's not a automatic folding, yes. I do it all the time when parked on the street.
i just installed mine and it doesn't fit flush like how it is in the video... also the third clip came broken on the passenger side
Same I just received mine and the bottom clip was broken for the passengers :/
I've been looking for this for 2011crv cannot find it nowhere
Is there somewhere to buy the actuator rods if I broke them? Please help. Thank you.
eBay would be your best bet or a Honda dealer but they will be over priced
@@bladeslayer Do you know what it would be called? I tried to look online for it but couldn't find it.
I'm digging it
What if the adjustment no longer works? The motor seems to be moving and the mirror rotates a little bit but it seems to be stuck. How do we fix this?

Do u have to disconnect battery if u unplug mirror when changing?

Do we have to disconnect the battery?
It is not 100% necessary, but it is best practice when working on a car, especially electrical.
Would this be the same install method for the ex sedan ?
Yes, the process will be very similar or exactly the same.

Does it fit the Sport Hatchback?
Yes, these mirror caps do fit the Sport Hatchback.
Will these also work on civic type r
Yes they will, definitely.
Yes
You have these for 9th gens?
These are currently available for the 10th gen (2016-current) civics only. Sorry!

These didn’t even fit my 2018 si on either side, very disappointed

Rather just get fake mirrors caps instead of risking a expensive repair
