I'll never get over how defeated 12 was by the end of his life. He'd lost Clara, Missy, Bill and Nardole. He only got to say goodbye to their memories too 😥 Yet he still chose to keep on fighting for the sake of the universe.
When Clara's song starts in Twice Upon a Time i always get the "sad chills".
Clara was my first real companion that i traveled with for her full time...
I have never understood the hate for clara as a companion, I always liked her character.
She wasn't my first, Rose was. Even still I loved her so much, Way more than Amy and Rory. Idk Clara just felt like a breath of fresh air when they introduced her 3 times before she actually joined.

@@gamerman782 That can't be right. When Clara started appearing, the Doctor had already been in exile for awhile. All becoz he was hurting from the loss the Ponds. I've never watched any of the classics but I absolutely love each and every one of the modern Doctors and their companions. There's no reason to dislike any of them imho

Graham's was sad you can tell he was really excited to travel again but couldn't bring himself to just leave Ryan behind
yeah, he'd choose his grandson over time and space any day of the week and that's really lovely!
I just hope him and Ace are having loads of adventures now.
Except for when he did in Power of the Doctor to go explore Dalek infested volcanos for some reason.

I saw the title and went nope 😭 The Ponds got me, and I still watch Rose’s goodbye when I’m in the mood for crying.
For me, I never cried harder when The Ponds left. Because they were more than his companions…They were his family. 💙💙

Amy is probably my favorite companion but that Rose ending is so hard. Rose and the doctor were so good together and their goodbye has to be the #1 for me.
The Doctor remembers each and every one of them. And each time, their hearts get broken because they inevitably have to say goodbye.
Martha’s is actually a rlly happy ending for her.
Like it’s sad what happened to her family but it rlly shows her becoming the very best version of herself and excepting it and I love that.

Donna was the worst, the absolute worst…Imagine someone you love so much and to save their life you need to completely wipe their mind…It wasn’t the goodbye that was heartbreaking, it’s the fact that Donna is alive and well but she will never remember the wonderful amazing things she did with the doctor.

Rose's goodbye still breaks my heart. Still remember the first time i watch doomsday, i was in tears at the end of the episode
I dont get how none of the top comments find her exit to be the saddest... Currently rewatching NuWho to introduce my girlfriend to the series and shes absolutely in love with Rose. Going to be ruff to see her leave...
I think the hardest will be saying goodbye to the Doctor one day
I haven't seen up to 12, but Capaldi saying goodbye to Clara still made me feel the most of any of these. That's just how good of an actor he is

Clara's farewell shattered me to pieces .The look at no 12 face when he saw Clara was so heartbroking .
Right before he regenerates, the 10th Doctor is standing alone in the TARDIS, very solemn and looking at the console, up and down. I had the distinct impression this was 10’s (and probably David Tennants) saying goodbye to his longest companion, the TARDIS. He had already said goodbye to the others, and this was his final and most important farewell. Just my impression as a new DW fan . Thanks for the video. Well done!

Martha’s farewell will always be my favorite and it gets me emotional every time I see it. Wish they posted the whole scene but there are other channels on yt that have posted it

Me too! I love her farewell for being the only one to voluntarily give up traveling with the doctor for her own sake and the sake of her family. (Tbh, I have no idea of she was the only one but I'm saying this based off the seasons I've seen so far which do not include the classics). I found her ability to step away or in her words, "get out", showed bravery, maturity and awareness. Definitely one of my favorite characters across the show.
That’s why I liked how all of 13’s companions also just walked away. The fact that it’s possible these important ppl in the Doctor’s lives can still live quietly and peacefully is heartwarming in its Own way

Clara's farewell broke me
Damm you for making me cry like a baby again with the Rose exit
I'm going to be honest, all 4(ish) of Clara's exits were brilliant.
1. End of series 8, where she parts with the Doctor in such a unique way. They were both lying to each other, but their lies were out of love, and while I'm glad she came back because her arc hadn't finished yet, it was one of the most incredible companion exit moments!
2. Face the Raven - Clara has come full circle, and we think her arc is complete. She finally did it, she became the Doctor and it ended her. A true death, and one of the saddest goodbyes.
3. Hell Bent - While Clara did come full circle, her arc is finally complete here, when she gets her own Tardis. She has become the Doctor, with her own companion. Amazingly, Moffatt managed to give her both of the endings that made the most sense with her story, and they both work!
4. Twice Upon a Time - I don't really count this one. It's a lovely moment, but she left in Hell Bent.
You forgot the one from Last Christmas, with Clara in old age, Moffat said that was Planned to be her exit as well, but that Jenna Coleman wanted to stay for another season
Clara really was too similar to the Doctor. Where she went too far in Face the Raven, the Doctor went too far in Heaven Sent and Hell Bent. But once he was able to be with Clara again, she made him realise that he couldn't keep going on the way he was. They brought out the best and the worst in each other. A tragic and beautiful partnership.

Rose’s ending still hurts so bad.
First watched, Matt smith in season 7 so the first emotional goodbye for me was Amy, Roy and Clara. Seeing our favourite companions go is never easy.

Goodbye Rose 🌹
Martha's farewell is just so beautiful and under-rated to me. 1:47 I love her farewell for being the only one to voluntarily give up traveling with the doctor for her own sake and the sake of her family. (Tbh, I have no idea of she was the only one but I'm saying this based off the seasons I've seen so far which do not include the classics). I found her ability to step away or in her words, "get out", showed bravery, maturity and awareness. Its one thing to show bravery by devoting your life to an amazing man but its also another thing to show bravery by knowing when your journey with this amazing man has ended. Definitely one of my favorite characters across the show.
She understand what it's like to travel with the doctor more than anyone that is why she is one call away from the doctor than the rest of his companions because the awareness and strength she has
Graham and Ryan also left voluntarily
And in the classic series, the Doctor's first companions (besides his granddaughter), Ian and Barbara, left voluntarily, mostly because they had never intended to leave in the first place
Rose and the Ponds' goodbyes always make me 😭 like a baby.
Matt Lucas saying, "Cuddles," is an almost sure fire recipe for a good chuckle. The delivery of the word, combined with Twelve's resistance to the very ideas, just totally sells it. That being said, seeing Karen show up again just before Smith changes always brings a tear to my eye.
The Rose ending had me 😭😭😭😭

Four saying goodbye to Sarah-Jane was the most upsetting for me, Sarah was such a good companion. I'm glad she was able to see The Doctor again in several incarnations, 11 being the last she ever saw
The Ponds leaving break my heart every time. The chemistry - the love between the characters feels so real. And knowing the final goodbye of River - truly heart wrenching.
Rose was always such a sad ending, but Amy and Rory topped that for me.

There 4 companions the Doctor saying goodbye: Clara, Bill, Nardol, and you may notice that the music playing during farewell is “Night on the Darillium” - goodbye to Riversong…
Still, Clara’s farewell in “Face the raven” and “Hell bent” are much more heartbreaking
Clara would rather be dead than see the Doctor become something else, but the Doctor would rather break every rule to be with Clara. It's the most destructive love we've ever seen in this show. I don't think we'll see something like it again.
I who write a love letter as often as I can about this relationship, I find in a few lines in the most beautiful simplicities, what I kill myself to say in several dozen lines...

"Parting of the Ways" is the saddest of all, because it shows that Nine and Rose love each other and were willing to sacrifice themselves for the other; the parting between the First Doctor and Susan is very touching.
Martha Jones will always be around for the doctor whenever he needs help because she is one of the most companions that understands the doctor and his life she has more experience than most
Martha and Sarah Jane are the best ones. Martha chosing herself is the best thing ever. And Sarah Jane showing us the hardest part of being a Time Lord friend was something we needed to understand the Doctor and his complicated relationship with Gallifrey.
Do you know what would be the saddest goodbye of all? I am now 70 yrs old - yeah 😊 - and I hope never to witness that goodbye - the time when the Doctor says goodbye to the TARDIS.
even though we know donna gets to remember and come back, seeing her lose her memory still hurts. the ponds are another that kill me. especially since that episode happened RIGHT after 11 told mr weasley that he would keep him safe. also any time i see sarah jane it makes me sad:(

It’s funny it was only after 10 started hugging everyone that I started to notice how there is almost no physical contact between the Dr and his companions in the old series.
I look forward to seeing The Doctor's reaction to seeing Mel again.
Donna has had one of the most rueful farewell... Now that she's coming back, I fear how much more tragic her farewell is gonna be...

It’s The 3rd Doctor’s sad walk back to UNIT HQ alone that does it for me. Joe was one of the few companions he had real romantic affection for, but unlike with Ten and Rose, he actually got to make the decision to let Joe go to a man who could give her the life she really wanted.
@@Popcultureguy3000 I wouldn't say there was romance, but he definitely grew to like her. She wasn't an intellectual equal like Liz, she was more like a student.
Jon Pertwee was sad when she left, if was one of the main reasons he left a year later
@@blueknight07 It was a combinations of things that drove Pertwee away. Katy's departure and most importantly Delgado's death. Sadly enough that scene is the most real because he really had lost his friends. Fortunately, Pertwee never stopped loving the Doctor as he loan's "Betsy" for the 4th Doctor's first story and then again for the Brig's last on air story with the 7th Doc.
Literally every time i watch even the CLIP of the forward from angels take Manhatten i bawl my eyes out! Every TIME!!
Saddest one to me wasn’t even one I could see but simply hear and that was Charlie's letter to the doctor in the audio the Girl who never was. Without spoiling it a misunderstand and the doctor thinks she left hating him.
