- Having properly working brake lights is crucial to the safe operation of a vehicle. Over time all brake light bulbs will go out and need to be changed. This video shows you how to change out your brake lights, as well as your brake light Assembly on a Nissan Rogue 2014-2019!

This worked like a charm on our 2015 Rogue. They tried to charge me $80 at Firestone but when I said they didn't clarify that to me they lowered it to $60. This time I went to my local shop and got a pack of 2 bulbs for $12 and it took us 15-20 mins to change the bulb. Thank you so much!!

Excellent video! As a 57 year old woman determined to save money I followed your video and successfully changed brake light and did the little white bulb since I was there. If I realized there were 3 I would have done the 3rd! I did have to use the screw driver as light would not budge. I put a medical glove over the screwdriver and gentle pushed and it was easy to remove the light. So proud of myself! Thank you again!!!!

Friendly tip for everyone, don't use a screwdriver. It makes the job way more difficult and it may scratch the car and crack the light. Just pull the brake light out from the back. The screwdriver isn't needed.

Just for some clarification, you only have to worry about getting finger oils on bulbs that have quartz glass (halogen bulbs). If it's a regular incandescent bulb with non-quartz glass then there's no worries. The issue is that the halogen bulbs get a lot hotter than standard incandescent bulbs and the oils on the hotter quartz glass will cause the glass to turn black and crack. To get rid of any oils, use a clean paper or cloth towel with rubbing alcohol on it. Using just a towel alone is not enough to remove the oils from the glass.

Thanks for the clear instructions. Just a tip I found a small hard plastic putty knife to be the best at popping the housing out without scratching the paint. It’s able to fit in the curved gap and gives a stable point to punch the top of the handle to release the clip.

I couldn't get it to budge. I was worried that using a screwdriver might crack the assembly. I finally tried a thin putty knife (with tape on it) and that did the trick. Of course I was given the wrong bulbs and have to do it one more time. lol

If you touch the bulbs with your bare fingers, you should use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol to moisten your paper towel before cleaning the bulb, not just wipe the bulb with the dry fabric. The grease and salt from your fingers need to be actually dissolved and removed thoroughly.

Do not use a screw driver, it will take the paint off your car, even if it coated with tape. It the light assembly is stuck, go buy the correct plastic tool to remove it with for a few dollars at your auto store.
Yes if light is stuck get a plastic tool to be sure u don't scratch paint.

Should have converters so that it connects to your old plugs. Hope you get it fixed.

Hey got a question about the rest of the tail light attached to the trunk door. Does that require taking the whole back panel off?

I tried to change the tail light bulb on mine, but the new bulb didn't work. I don't know if the current gets to the circuit, also I want to know what type of taste can be used to check the current?

I was wondering if you could explain which fuse is for the backlight?
You made it seem so easy but I didn't know the part number for the driver side housing. I contacted the Nissan dealer and was told the part number for my vehicle after providing the vin# is 26555-6FL0D. Wrong connection piece! My vehicle has the same connection piece for the entire housing as the one in this video, only on the driver's side. what part number is it?

I got all the screws loose and went to push light back but neither side will move. It was almost like something else was holding it place. The easy his came out was because he already had them loosen. When I pushed all I did was chip away at my lens cover.
