    If I may share an idea.
    When discussing the overshoot and inverse whatnot, to put the charts on the bottom of the screen and showcase on the top actual gaming and even a zoomed in window to showcase in slowmotion what is going on and how bad it is.
    I mean, this would be like cherry on top. These reviews of yours are high end professional standard and I respect you as a person for offering this level of details. That idea is just the extra that makes the presentation perfect.
    Cheers and best wishes

    Monitors need much better standardization. Thank you for all the good content and education. Hopefully more people demand better overall quality and color accuracy from manufacturers. Backlight bleed is another big one that seems to slide through without mention, it can completely ruin dark scenes, whereas some monitors the backlight bleed is barely noticeable.
    I see this a lot with GPU's as well with things like coil whine and fan curves. Whole tech industry needs higher standards.

    • @cunt5413
      @cunt5413 Год назад +4

      I'm so glad I went miniLED. The backlight bleed is gone but I also don't need to worry about OLED burn in.

    • @MrRotch61
      @MrRotch61 Год назад +3

      Contrast ratios as well. I bought an AOC 24G2 that had 1,300:1 contrast that was visibly a lot better than my other monitors. If it's possible for IPS panels to have better contrast and virtually no backlight bleed (with the LG 32GQ950-B), I don't understand why monitor manufacturers don't push for better quality, at least on their higher end IPS products.

    • @rustyshakelford1466
      @rustyshakelford1466 Год назад

      @@MrRotch61 Greed and cost cutting. At the low end they assume people have no standards, at the high-end they assume people will put up with just acceptable performance because "IPS isn't a contrast tech, you should have gotten VA". It can take a long time for tech from the pro/enthusiast space to get into "normal" monitors. Samsung started cracking the key to fast VA all the way back in 2016/2017, but you still don't find that level polish in most VAs. Same with IPS, there have been panels that solved a lot of issues for ages, even longer than VA, but companies want to cheap out on panels for most models. With OLED burn-in concerns, I'm looking forward to IPS-Black improving to gaming levels and VA getting even better motion. I would consider OLED even with burn-in risks if they used better pixel layouts, that's the thing that kills it for me. TN LCD seems tapped out for anything but extreme motion for esports players.

    I ended up getting this monitor because the features seemed nice at the price point and my old one was having issues and I didn't feel like taking out a soldering iron to fix them. This one is significantly better than the old 144hz MSI VA I had before. Now I'm wondering how much better others are XD. I did have 1 issue with mine, it came with a dead DisplayPort port, luckily Amazon is good for returns and the 2nd one I got worked fine (also no dead pixels on either, and this one hasn't developed any stuck pixels)

    I bought both Gigabyte G24F 2 and AOC 24G4 and i can say that the only pluses of AOC 24G4 is response time and how UFO test doesn't leave slight traits like in G24F2 on darker parts so it's visibly slower on G24F 2. I wish more people will test G24F 2 because i saw other youtuber that tested it and it was more around 8-9ms than 12ms which is really weird case in this channel.
    What i can say that AOC 24G4 kind if surprised me in weird way because when reponse time seems really good and it the contrast is good then the view angles are avarage and colors as also white are visibly worse than in Gigabyte. It won't be that big deal if not that blue+gray or blue+white colors looks purple than blue, for example galaxy, sky, some rock wall with blueish trait or something like that. I tried to adjust colors in many different ways and used some different options since i'm not professional and don't have stuff to perfectly calibrate screen, but it always leaves that purple color. I can compare it because i have them close to each other on gigabyte it looks naturally blue and on aoc it looks purple.
    I ordered 2nd one 24G4 to see if i didn't get something wrong and it's the same case, but the 2nd one came with less ips glow and blacklight bleeding on the plus. The most what irritates me is that those blue colors combined with gray,white and prolly some others colors looks purple and it doesn't look natural. I even compared it with my old IPS EIZO FS2434 and even if EIZO one isn't wide gamut and have a bit brown trait on screen, still it looks more natural behind it on this case. I would love to get screen quality of Gigabyte G24F 2 and reponse time of AOC 24G4. Personally i kind of wanna stay with Gigabyte, but i think i will see some other options first.

      @Berkelll 5 месяцев назад

      @@raziel5008 Gigabyte G24F 2 for sure having better colors and screen quality, the problem is that overdrive settings are done pretty poorly so like this guy saying here, it's not that fast. I think AOC 24G2SPU( i had it too) looks also better than AOC 24G4X, but it's still slower, but not as much as Gigabyte. Idk i just have weird problem that AOC 24G4X looks too much redish and weird no matter how i tune it. I'm not professionalist so i can't perfectly set it up ofc, but i don't have problems like that with other monitors. If u are just a fast paced gamer, i would still choose AOC 24G4X, you can see if it's to your liking or order 2 of them and see side by side.

    This really looks just like a 24" version of the G27Q as far as stats go, just in F not Q. Seems ok.
    Now we need some of the budget 1440p 27" that are out there in the $220-250 range currently, even in the off brand stuff like KTC (which could actually be the OEM for a lot of manufacturers). Sceptre has decent stuff but nobody covers it and to me their 1 year warranty is a negative in a field that has a 3 year warranty standard.
    Finding an M27Q 2.0 and testing that would be nice so we could see the difference between what obviously is 2 separate panels. There has to be a performance difference that we should see, since they advertise a bigger coverage of DCi-P3 at 95% instead of the 92% they claim on the 1.0.

    This is actually an amazing 1080p monitor. The level of quality and polish is way above the asking price, and would have cost you at least double a few years ago. It's so good it really puts into question "budget" monitors that have always hovered around $100. Many of these budget monitors are bottom barrel and you can tell immediately from poor colors and atrocious IPS glow and black uniformity. So why wouldn't you pay the extra $50 to get such a big jump in quality? It reminds me of buying pro Dell monitors back in the day, sure they were so much more expensive for the specs but when you actually used it the polish was immediately evident. Now you don't have to pay those prices, so I think in 2023 if you're settling for these super cheap IPS and VA you're just getting scammed. Cheap VAs still have smearing bad enough to make them bad for most games, and I've seen plenty of IPS with backlights so bad they're basically unusable, even for productivity.
    I blind bought the G24F2 based on the rep of the previous model and the fact it seemed to have an above average panel, and the bet paid off. These were actually super cheap when they first released at Microcenter at the end of last year; I walked out the door with one for like $120! Even as just a secondary monitor this is a good pickup now. My only complaints are you can sometimes see glue in the gap for the "frameless" design and IPS contrast still is nothing special, but decent black levels and uniformity alleviate this a lot (nothing is worse than IPS glow, ugh).

    Hey Tim, great review! I recently got the Dell S2722DGM, which is a little bit old 1440p 165 Hz monitor, but I have been very impressed with its quality after trying myself a few other monitors (like the AOC CQ27G2), especially considering the low price tag (I got for 200 euros, but I saw it's often going under 200 dollars in US). I think this is definitely a bang for bucks, I hope you will considering it for review.

      @@C0BEX That's the S2721DGF, which is a completely different monitor despite the similar name. That has an LG Nano IPS panel and costs more, despite now it's also going on sale many times. The one I have is a VA panel, generally much cheaper. In terms of specs they are very similar, but I think that for price and performance the 22 model is way more convenient. It has among the best response times for a budget VA I have ever seen (not as Odyssey G7 of course but better than most competitors in its price tag), and also quite good viewing angles and uniformity. Not very wide color gamut and no HDR but none has at that price, It has a very good panel for being a VA, with the usual advantages as deep blacks but much better in other areas than usual VAs. It took long time for me to find a panel like this that was not as pricey as the G7, which anyway I think has worse uniformity and view angles, at least the sample I checked.

    Just picked up a two Dell 24" 1080p 165Hz G2422HS for $150. Had a $60 rewards so used that to bring each of them down to $120 instead. Even at the sale price is great monitor as I tend to like Dell monitors. I'm using it for half work and gaming as I wanted to upgrade my work issued Dell 22" 1080p 60Hz monitors to something slightly bigger. What a big difference. This is probably the max side by side setup that I would do as I would hate having to turn my head that far left and right at something bigger.
    I wanted to at least get 1440p monitors but there is no point as my work labtop through the Dell hub doesn't support anything beyond 1080p 60Hz so I was stuck with 1080p still which I don't mind at this small of a screen. Plus it's hard to impossible to find a 24" 1440p but at the same time I didn't want any scaling issues from 1080p content at such a large screen. I rather benefit from the native resolution instead.
    I also have a 55" S95B hooked up to my rig if I really want to game as well. Once you got OLED it's hard to go back.

    "There's no golden monitors in the budget class." It can be argued that there aren't many golden monitors in the expensive bracket, either. There are ones that are damn close, but it feels like all of them have at least one issue or drawback in one place or another (quality control, firmware issues, software incompatibilities, fake HDR, fake HDMI 2.1, or even just WAY TOO MUCH MONEY). Only reason I finally grabbed a C2 is because of a significant price cut on Prime Day, and that its biggest shortfall (no adjustment in the stand) is something I can work around. Having said that, if I was still running my ancient 1050p 60Hz monitor, I'd probably consider this one as a cheap upgrade.
