I actually like having the male choral theme when they enter the astral world. It’s so much darker and reflects the chaotic situation better. It then abrupty stops when the family is reunited and a shield of light surrounds them, which I think fits.
Jerry Goldsmiths original ”astral” score in ”Reaching Out” is very ethereal and light, with synthesized ”airy” sound effects. It kinda makes you forget the danger they are in, in favor of a more fantastic impression.
I honestly didn’t notice the choppiness until I bought the OST CD (in the 90s) and heard the uninterrupted version of Reaching Out. Sidenote: The CD had only 5 or 6 tracks, and the ”God is in his holy temple” male choral theme wasn’t included at all. The publisher Varese Sarabande specialized in movie score music, but was notorious for simply excluding tracks that were either too short, or too dynamic to be enjoyed without the movie imagery. These days are much better and publishers realize fans expect them to include everything.

This scared the hell out of me when I was a child. This trilogy was a big favorite in my family's house. I was so devastated by the death of little Heather O'Rourke (I was 8 when she died), I tried to pretend that it wasn't true because I just didn't want to believe it. I still cry every time I watch scenes of these films or whenever I hear Carol Anne's theme song.

I grew up with the poltergeist movies and it’s crazy 😜 how people say it’s a cursed cause 1 by 1 every actor was dying from each movie

The thing about The Beast that is so creepy is that it's not just one spirit but a giant, slimy, worm-like mass of all the restless souls forged into one mass of vengeful rage with Kane in the center of its motives.

Aw can see Craig T Nelson trying to help Will out of that hole at the end he must have been struggling by then with his health. Unbeliavable he performed a shaman exorcism on the set do they could continuie filming the cavern scenes. So sweet Zelda gives Heather a hug.

Yeh sort of happy ending to the saga they got carol anne back. But get sad all over again that Heather O rourke passed on in real life eternally 12.

Yeah her passing is very depressing still to this day over 30 years later. The hardest thing in life is seeing an innocent child taken away never getting to grow up and live a long life as they were meant to

Even though poltergeist 3 wasent as good Heather carried the whole movie with her great performance for being her last one and on her own without her family

Imho Poltergeist 2 is far better than first...Superior score by J.Goldsmith provides an extra drama to the good elements in the movie...last but not least: Rev.Kane deserves to enter the gotha of Horror villains...a deephearted thought to Heather 'O Rourke, Zeda Rubinstein and the fantastic Will Sampson.

That ending was so choppy. It looked like more should have happened in the other world with all this music that was composed. The way it abruptly cuts to the Beast attacking to Carol Anne going spinning through the air just happens without clear transition.
