It’s crazy how easy it is to learn from you just from watching.
Love the quality of the video’s and content lately. You’ve taught me a lot about the craft!
I appreciate that!
That opening is priceless!
You've made me want to make my bottle openers more than just a hunk of bar stock with a loop in one end.
now I wanna learn everything about blacksmithing!
I liked the little bit of humor in the beginning.
That's a lovely bit of craftsmanship.
can we just admire those forearms
Dude I just found your channel and this is exactly what I've been wanting. No commentary blacksmithing is like my favorite thing. I just love listening to it. You sir have earned yourself a sub. Keep it up!
Lol the gag at the start really made it worth it
You deserve a cool refreshment after that hot work. Hope the smoke is better out your way.
It has been much better the past week or so.
"naaah" :) Well done John :) i really like to watch that shorts, but also i love the longer one ;)
The 'nah' that started the video would have been greatly complimented with a token belch at the end.
I'm forging at school, and this video really helped. Learn a lot by watching your video's man, thank!
Must have been really satisfying to drink that beer after all that work
Mineral water actually, but yes. (the only beer on hand was in a can)
Thanks John, as a beginner this looks like a nice starter project. Enjoy your Topo Chico. Joe from Wisconsin.
Thanks 👍
Nooooo
Not the hammer!
Lol
Sweet project
Now I gotta say slit n drift seems like it may be advantageous over punch n drift.
ONLY done one. Punch n drift. Time to made a slitting chisel n try it that way!
Crawford out 🙏🔥⚒️🧙🏼♂️
Nice job, John... Simple but elegant... It was a pleasure to watch... Thank you...
Glad you enjoyed it
Love the no commentary video too. Thankyou!
So simple yet satisfying and fulfilling
Cheers!
Funny intro. :)
Another cool project.
Thanks for the inspiration.🙂
Thanks for watching!
Nice touch on the curved handle i like that it gives the opener a top and bottom face.
Always good bread and butter projects. Thank you for sharing.
Topo Chico for the win!!!
Nice opener.chisel work look cook👍👍🔥🔥🔥
Thanks 👍
One way to pay for your drinks , Make a bottle opener every time you open one . Then put it on your esty shop. :)
Great short video, John. Made me see a couple of things I need to do differently with my bottle opener forging efforts - I'm 1 for 3 with my attempts so far, but my last one is a keeper and you've (quietly) given me some good pointers here.
Thanks for sharing! That definitely looks great.
Excellent project, John! 🐾🔥⚒
P.S. A rr spike makes a cool wall mount type!

Great video! Lot of instruction packed into 7 1/4 minutes ! Well done, thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Great job John, great looking bottle opener. Thanks for sharing with us, Fred. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👋👋👍👍
Nice bottle opener John, and it looks like you got it done before the beer got warm!
Great video, and great choice with the Topo Chico! Haha 👍🏻👏🏻
Thanks! 😁
Very nice job John. It turned out very well.
An interesting variation would be to have the handle section look like a skull or something like that. A lot of cool things that can be done.
Quality video
Nice one, Cheers!
Real man!
Need a mandrel like that, just hoping to find one! Thanks John!
That little one came from Pieh Tool
I want to forge too T-T
I once was fortunate enough to be able to try it but man, I wanna forge lots of stuff
Like swords for example
I'd probably just forge swords and knifes but damn, it'd not only take ages for me to forge anything even merely resembling a knife / sword without burning the iron but also it'd take ages to get the equipment needed to forge
Tremendous
Super maestroooiioooiiioooooooo
Those green bottles have always been hard to open.
I’m getting into smithing and this helped a lot. I just wanted to ask what the reason for the bees wax is does it help fight corrosion or is there another reason?
Mostly its to protect from rust. But it makes it look much better as well
🥰👍
I like the chisel work, John. The question is, does the bottle opener bend the caps? I've been saving my beer caps for years thinking I was going to do something with them. I have bags and bags of them now.
A little, but not as bad as the church key types.
Nice bottle opener how do you keep from getting tennis elbow while forging
Don't use a hammer thats too heavy and keep a relaxed grip.
Oooh, John has a video for that one: ruclips.net/video/ivmXu5jr-JI/видео.html
LOOOOOOL
Nice simple project John.
I haven't tried all the permutations yet, should forge scale be removed before applying bees wax? So far for my effort, it seems the scale flakes off regardless of waxing.
You should always try to brush off as much as possible. I don't tend to have an issue with scale that is resistant to being wire brushed popping off later.
Ill try more vigorous brushing then. Maybe some steel wool for delicate areas.
The criss cross pattern you chiseled: any idea if it means or represents something? Symbols usually have a meaning, and I want to make sure any symbols I use don't represent something evil 🤔
I think in a previous video he said he worked with someone who used that same design and I think he just likes using it. I'm not sure if there is any specific meaning
Do you make one for each beer?
Doesn't everyone?
Interesting. Less yack yack and more whack whack? Of course while nice for a change, we do miss your excellent explanations, but a bottle opener maybe doesn't need them.
The usual narrative style is still on the main channel Black Bear Forge. Here on Black Bear Forge II there will be a variety of styles just to experiment a bit.
HAve you considered buying one for less than a dollar dude
